The Thing and Hawkman & Hawkgirl

This is the Thing's third outing with Hawkman.  They first appeared together in a MTIO cover from my MS Paint days, then they had a classic adventure in STF #3632. I thought that it was time for Hawkgirl to get in on the action.

Doctor Strange Vs. Eclipso

I had previously featured a battle between these two as one of the back up stories in STF #2400, but I thought that this was a match up that was worthy of its own issue.  Doctor Stephen Strange is familiar with having to stave off his own darker side - The end of his last cinematic outing left him doing just that, after all - hopefully it will not be too many years before we see that plot point resolved.

Spider-Man Vs. Poison Ivy

Spidey has had experience fighting a villain that controls sand, but what about all plant life?  At least he has the full face mask to prevent her from giving him one of her hypno-kisses!  It would be a fun battle to see.

Captain America and The Flash in: "20-Foot Temper Tantrum!"

I've had these two share adventures in team ups featuring the Invaders or the JSA, but never the two of them together.  That surprised me and I decided it's time I remedied that.

Captain America shared adventures with the Barry Allen Flash in STF #3273 and STF #726...

Batman and The Blonde Phantom

I've been re-watching the entire run of Batman: The Brave and the Bold on HBO Max and it's just such a fun show.  The love for DC Comics history shows in every episode, I'm amazed at some of the characters they decided to use.  I can't seem to find Justice League Action on the service, however.  I'd love to do a re-watch of that series as well -  I'm not sure I caught all of the episodes when they were first briadcast.

Batman and Spider-Man (Vs. Clayface & Mysterio)

Mysterio was very well realized in live action.  Will Clayface ever get a big budget silver screen treatment?  Considering how Hollywood likes to keep making Batman and his rogues darker and more grounded, I'm not holding my breath.  It would be cool to see though.

Batman and Spider-Man enter The Wacky Races

The last time the Spider-Buggy appeared, Blog Patron Bob Greenwade suggested Spidey and Batman Join the Wacky Races.  I laughed to myself because I had at that point already created this cover, and it was just waiting it's turn to be posted.  Great minds think alike, Bob!

Tigra and Cat-Man (Part 4 of 7)

As we pass the midway point in our week-ling tale, we see that Cat-Man is seeking revenge against Tigra for busting up his crime wave.  Let's hope Uncle Ted has arrived in time.  it's hard to see any reconciliation happening now - make sure you tune in tomorrow to see where this story goes next!

Regular STF visitors know that Tigra is Wildcat's niece, as outlined in STF #2551.  They first shared a cover on STF #1265...

Tigra and Cat-Man (Part 2 of 7)

For the second part of our week-long tale, we see that this alliance between a hero and a villain was doomed to fail. At the first sight of adversity, Cat-Man has turned tail and abandoned his partner.  You can bet she won't forget this if they should ever cross paths again - which they will in Part 3, coming tomorrow!

Tigra and Cat-Man (Part 1 of 7)

Presenting the longest continued tale yet for The Lost Issues - This pairing of feline-themed characters will span the years and include some special guest stars along the way.  Here we see the beginning of the Tigra/Cat-Man team - but how successful can such an alliance be?  Tune in tomorrow for chapter two to see where this story goes next!

Hawkman and The Thing in: "Death Cult!"

It's almost a certainty that The Thing will be realized via CGI when The Fantastic Four finally join the MCU - but what design will be used? Will his features be modeled after the artwork of Jack Kirby, George Perez, John Byrne or someone else?  If I was in charge, I would keep his look as close to Ron Wilson's depiction from his run on Marvel Two-In-One as possible, that's the Ben Grimm I see when I close my eyes.

Speaking of that title, Hawkman and The Thing last shared an adventure way back in my MTIO: The Lost Issues days in 2011.

Batman and Captain Caveman

One of the cool things about seeing different artists' interpretations of Batman is how they each choose to depict the Bat-Cave.  It's still the coolest superhero HQ in my mind, and I'm sure its fun for each new illustrator to put their own spin on it.  I'm looking forward to whatever version we will be getting in next year's The Batman movie.

Daredevil and Hawkman

Hawkman is one of the toughest looks to get right in live action.  Previous attempts have always made the wings look too small to my eyes.  The helmet is iconic, but tricky to get to look good from multiple angles.  Plus, you need an actor with an incredible build to pull off the shirtless version.  Aldis Hodge seems to have been working out, though (he would have to to be able to go up against The Rock!).  Hopefully the costume designers for Black Adam will give him a suit and wings that finally do the character justice.

Sub-Mariner and Batman & Robin

It's been a constant rumor that Namor would be introduced as an antagonist in the Black Panther sequel, focusing on relations between the advanced societies of Wakanda and Atlantis.  With the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman, nothing is certain as to how the story will move forward now.  When you factor in the delays already caused by productions shutting down, it looks like it will probably be quite a bit longer before we see the Avenging Son make his live action debut.

Batman and The Sub-Mariner met a couple of times back in my Brave and the Bold: The Lost Issues days - once in 2010, and then again in 2011...

Iron Man and Hawkman in: "Exhibition of Evil!"

I love looking at Golden Age covers featuring Hawkman.  Sheldon Moldoff and others really went to town when depicting his wings - they were huge, almost out of control and very impressive looking!  Let's hope the next live action Hawkman can do them justice.

Iron Man and Hawkman shared a Bronze Age adventure in STF #2301...

Aquaman and Sub-Mariner in : "Slaves of the Mer-Mutates!"

Rumors are that we may finally see some footage from James Wan's Aquaman at DC's upcoming Comicon presentation, and I am dying to see what it looks like.  There have been some still shots and production drawings released that look very promising.  My favorite is a shot of some Atlantians riding some huge underwater creatures.  If they can find a way to get Aquaman on a giant sea horse, I will be very pleased!

Aquaman and Namor have a bit of history on this blog.  They last met trying to avert war in Issue #1105, faced the sea's wrath back in Issue #751 and starred in my very first STF two-parter in Issue #3 and Issue #4.

Batman Vs. Kraven the Hunter

Every time I see Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan on The Walking Dead, I am more convinced that he would make the perfect cinematic Kraven The Hunter.  Come on, Marvel - make it happen!

Batman tangled with Kraven before on a couple of early MS Paint covers - once with the aid of The Falcon, and once against the entire Sinister Six...

Green Lantern and Captain America in "Picking a Bone with Al Capone"

I haven't even seen Captain America: The Winter Soldier yet, and I have already seen images of Chris Evans in costume for Cap's follow up appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron.  The shots are blurry and from a distance, but from what I can see, it is my favorite look yet - a good blending of the suit from the first film and the more modern one shown in commercials for the current movie.  Best of all, they fixed the wonky helmet from the first Avengers film - no more covered up ears!

These two first met in STF #372

The Spectre Vs. Scooby Doo

Is there any cartoon property that has had as many incarnations as Scooby Doo?  I remember being a fan when I was a kid, I even had a Scooby Doo lunchbox.  The fact that Scooby and the gang would meet with characters like Batman or the Harlem Globetrotters added to my admiration of the show - even back then I loved crossovers.  The live action movies seemed to kick the property into high gear again, and new series and animated movies have been popping up on a regular basis. Not bad for a bunch of hippies and their dog!
