Hawkwoman and Lady Sif

Uh oh!  It looks like Mr. Universe,  the arch villain of the STF universe, has returned!  This time out, he is vexing two of comicdom's greatest warrior women.  As the cover indicates, the adventure is just beginning - Who will show up in part two?  Make sure to come by tomorrow to find out!

Justice League Vs. Squadron Supreme (Plus 4 More tales!)

What the...?  Didn't I just post STF #2000 the other day?  Time is certainly flying by! It seems like not that long ago that I was sitting on my bedroom floor reading 100-Page Giants and feeling like I had a whole lifetime ahead of me.  Today is my 49th birthday, and I am definitely aware of my age and mortality - but I'm still glad I have this blog and a love for comics and superheroes to help keep me feeling young!

This is the fourth meeting between The League and The Squadron.  The were last seen together in a two-parter that began in STF #1425 and concluded in STF #1426....  and they first met way back in STF #205...

Catwoman Vs. Daughters of the Dragon

Another reason that I am really looking forward to Netflix' The Defenders is that we will finally get to see Misty Knight and Colleen win cross paths.  Will Misty get a bionic arm?  Will they join forces to form Nightwing Restorations?  I certainly hope so!

Catwoman Vs. Wolverine

If I had to pick a favorite Wolverine story, I would still go back to his original self-titled mini-series by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller.  I had been a fan of the character through his X-Men appearances, bur this solo outing really allowed the character to flourish.  Miller's artwork was a revelation for me - I remember being amazed at the first image of Mariko.  I also have to admit that I really enjoyed Wolverine: Enemy of the State  by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr., even if it did go over the top a bit.

Catwoman and Tigra

Gotta say, I see Tigra winning this battle... but then again, Catwoman is not above fighting dirty...

I am very interested to see what Christopher Nolan and Anne Hathaway have in store for audiences with the latest on-screen incarnation of Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises.  It's a role I think we have yet to see realized perfectly yet.  Michelle Pfeiffer looked great, but her character's origin and motivations had little to do with the Selina Kyle of the comics... and that was a downright reverential portrayal when compared to the truly head scratching Halle Barre Catwoman film.  Hathaway has the looks and acting chops to do the role justice, I hope it is written as well as the previous villains have been.  The glimpses of costume we have seen have been fairly simple but cool and in line with the world Nolan has created.  Hathaway has claimed that we haven't seen the full Catwoman look yet, so who knows what else to expect.

Batman and She-Hulk

I mentioned in a recent post how I was not in favor of the over-proliferation of Hulk-like characters, as it diluted the concept.  She-Hulk, however I can give a pass to.  Turning strong and green due to Gamma radiation is where her similarities with he cousin end.  Jennifer Walters not only retains her intelligence upon Hulking out, she prefers life as a She-Hulk, which makes for a very different character from the tortured and cure seeking Bruce Banner.  I first really took notice of She Hulk as a team member of The Avengers and The Fantastic Four.  I enjoyed John Byrne's brief run on her second series that used the conceit that Jennifer Walters knew full well that she was a comic character, and was disappointed that that aspect of the character has bot stayed with her.  I also very much enjoyed the recent Dan Slott She-Hulk series, he was able to strike the nice mix of action and humor that suits her.
