Hyperion Vs. Black Adam

Battles between Superman and Captain Marvel have always been entertaining, so I figured that a clash between a pair of their dark reflections would be fun to see as well. If anything it would be even more brutal - but who would come out as the victor?

Cheetah Vs. Kraven the Hunter

Could their savagery in battle lead to passion for one another?  Stranger things have happened.

Captain America and Captain Kirk

Continued from yesterday's cover, we see just what Captain America has gotten into in his adventure with the crew of The Enterprise.  This issue would be enjoyable for me just to watch the interaction between the two captains.

Hawk & Dove Vs. Doctor Doom

It's a good thing that these two are working together because taking on Doom on his own turf is no simple feat.  Let's hope they have and ace up their sleeve.

Spider-Man and Starman in "The Perilous Partnership of Payton and Parker!"

With the strong legacy aspects that Starman has that spread from comics' Golden Age to the distant future, the character seems perfectly suited for a streaming series.  I'd base it on Jack Knight and branch out from there, just as James Robinsons' excellent 90's comic series did.

Spider-Man met Starman in his Prince Gavyn form in STF #3374, and crossed paths with the Ted Knight Starman in STF #1479...

The Creeper and Doc Samson

Have we all forgotten that Doc Samson is part of the MCU.  If William Hurt and Tim Roth could continue their roles after The Incredible Hulk, then way can't Doctor Leonard Samson?  Actually, if he were to get a Gamma infusion like in the comics, this might be a good candidate to recast.  As much as I like Ty Burrell, It might be hard to take the former Phil Dunphy seriously with  a muscular physique and long green hair!

Ultraman Vs. Venom

I thought I would present a take on the crossover that started it all.  I remember seeing ads for Superman Vs. Spider-Man and being fascinated by them.  It was a mythical comic to me as it took about a decade before I would be able to own a copy.

Ultraman here is by Ethan Van Sciver.  I was glad to get a sketch by him several years ago:

Venom Vs. Bane

Even though the first Venom movie was kind of crazy and over the top, I did get a kick out of it.  The sequel promises to be lots of fun as well.  Director Andy Serkis is the undisputed master of motion-capture characters and he seems like a perfect choice to be calling the shots behind the camera.  I can't wait to see how Carnage is realized on screen - both the CGI and Woody Harrelson's performance.   Hopefully we'll see some footage soon.

Blade and Green Arrow & Black Canary

Thank you to Blog visitor Wolfhammer for suggesting a Blade/Green Arrow pairing.  It's a pretty natural one that I am surprised I had not done before.  I figured that I would let Black Canary join in on the fesivities.  As much as I like both her and GA as solo characters, I think they work the best when they are together.  It always bothered me that writers seemed determined to break them apart in the comics.

Hawk and Dove Vs. Deadpool

I was interested to hear that brothers Donald and Steven Glover are going to bring an animated Deadpool series to FXX.  Not much more is known about the show, but they certainly have the comedy chops necessary for The Merc With a Mouth, so I will definitely be keeping my eye out for this one.

Captain Kirk on the Planet of the Apes

Once again a fantasy concept from STF: The Lost Issues has turned into reality!  I originally had this cover slated for a couple of weeks from now, but I decided to move it up in the rotation due to the announcement that publishers IDW and Boom Studios are teaming up to present a Star Trek/Planet of The Apes comic.  That sounds very cool, it will be great to see the two worlds collide.

The Apes are really on a roll - Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is a commercial and critical hit, and deservedly so.  I loved how the film expanded on the set up from Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and really turned up the tension.  It did a great job of presenting realistic and believable motivations for all the characters, even the villains.  The special effects were once again top notch and the directing provided a visual feast to go with the thought provoking narrative.  I can't wait for the next installment!
