Adam Strange and Magnus: Robot Fighter

Giant robots wrapped in a science-based mystery is just the type of situation that would get these two together.  I'd love to see them share an adventure.

Magnus Vs. The Terminator in: "Rage Against the Machines!"

Magnus first faced off against The Terminators in STF #1882, and I felt that a confrontation this epic was worthy of a follow up tale.

First Prey for Predator and (from the reviews I have read) now Alien: Romulus,  have brought worthy sequels back to long-running franchises after a series of misfires.  Can The Terminator hope for the same - or has too much damage already been done?

Magnus: Robot Fighter Vs. Brainiac

I was a little surprised when I checked and saw that I had not pit these two against one another yet on this blog.  It seems like a natural battle to feature, so here is the long overdue match-up.  Here's hoping we will finally see Brainiac on the big screen now that Superman is flying back into the movies.

Iron Man and Magnus: Robot Fighter

I wonder if these two would get along or not.  Sure, they are both heroes with an interest in technology and robots, but I still sense there might be some friction.  Tony Stark is all about creating mechanical wonders and Magnus' specialty is destroying them, after all.

Magnus: Robot Fighter and Red Tornado

Not much has been revealed about Superman: Legacy yet, but I hope we get word on a villain for the project soon.  I think that most Superman fans agree that it's high time that Brainiac showed up in the movies.  Just imagine how cool that ship of his would look on the big screen!

Magnus first crossed paths with Red Tornado in a Robo Force adventure presented in STF #2090...

Magnus: Robot Fighter and Blade Runner

I've been meaning to use Blade Runner for a while, and when Ken Roskos, A Patron of this Blog, suggested I pair him up with Magnus it seemed like a perfect fit.   Thanks, Ken!  There's definitely plenty of story potential here.

Magnus: Robot Fighter meets C-3PO and R2D2

The latest trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker features an ominous moment where it appears that C-3PO is saying goodbye to his allies for the last time.  If they must kill of the beloved droid, I hope that he at least sacrifices himself in a heroic manner.  I'm still mad at the way they had Admiral Ackbar go out like a punk in The Last Jedi.

Mr. Spock and Magnus: Robot Fighter

Some people first discovered Star Trek through the original TV show, and some through the movies.  My first memory is playing with the action figures.  I remember my dad bringing some home and giving them tome and my brothers.  I got Mr. Spock and thought he was pretty darn cool.  It was only later that I saw some reruns of the original series.  One of the first movies I remember renting at the advent of VHS recorders was Star Trek: The Motion Picture, and that movie truly cemented my fan status.

Magnus: Robot Fighter and Swamp Thing

Hopefully we will see some sort of footage from DC Comics' streaming service's upcoming Swamp Thing series.  I am very curious to see how the title character is presented.  Will he be an all-CGI creation, a man in a suit, or some kind of combination between the two?  I am also curious as to who will be playing Abby Arcane, which will no doubt be a crucial role in the show.  The Titans trailer didn't do much for me, but I am still holding out hope for this and the Doom Patrol series.

Robo Force Vs. Magnus: Robot Fighter

It was only a matter of time before Super-Team Family's premiere team met the one man who would like to disassemble them all.  Let's hope that Magnus realizes that not all robots are bad robots!

This is Robo Force's fifth appearance on the blog - they faced off against Brainiac in STF #1850... they almost lost one of their own in STF #1450... they Battled Ultron in STF #202 and first became a team back in STF #150...

Magnus: Robot Fighter Vs. The Terminator

The first two Terminator films are such classics, it's too bad that later installments ave failed to capture the mac of those films.  While the last three films each had a cool action scene or two, they haven't really been worthy of what had gone before.  Like the Aliens and Predator franchises, I am sure that Hollywood will keep trying, though.  I think the only thing that could really get me excited is if James Cameron returned as director, but he has moved on to Avatar unfortunately.

Magnus: Robot Fighter and Machine Man

I was almost exclusively a Marvel and DC kid during my early years as a comics fan, because that's pretty much all I was exposed to.  I did have a handful of other comics including some Gold Key Magnus issues.  Even though he wasn't a hero from the big two companies, the amazing Russ Manning artwork really impressed me and made me a fan of the character.

Magnus and Machine Man met once before on the blog, with Jocasta along for the action...

Magnus: Robot Fighter and The Iron Giant

I have always though that Brad Bird's The Incredibles was worthy of a sequel, and I am glad that one is finally in motion.  Bird's other animated classic, The Iron Giant, is another story.  As much as I love the film, I think that it is perfect just as it is.  I think this is a definite case where the story is so perfectly told that a sequel is unnecessary.

Jocasta and Magnus: Robot Fighter

I'm not sure why I have always liked Jocasta.  Maybe it is because she is from my favorite era of the Avengers, or that she has ties to Ultron (my favorite villain of theirs), or maybe just because she has a really cool design.  At any rate, I always enjoy when she makes an appearance in a story.

These two shared an adventure once before, with Machine Man along for the ride...

The Vision and Magnus: Robot Fighter

Like many, I felt that The Vision was the best part of Avengers: Age of Ultron.  Even though his origins differed from the comics, I enjoyed how he was depicted in appearance and performance.  I look forward to seeing him in future films, fully utilizing his abilities - we only got the quickest glimpse of him phasing this time around.  We also got a quick look between him and Wanda, and I hope that was a hint that the romance from the comics will make its way to the movies.

Machine Man & Jocasta Vs. Magnus: Robot Fighter

Like a lot of young comic fans, I created my own comics as a kid.  I had a whole bunch - Alastor the Avenger (who I spoke briefly on in my STF 1000th Issue Spectacular) was my main guy, but I created some other heroes and villains for him to interact with (when I wasn't teaming him with a real DC or Marvel hero).  There was The Lynx, The Gimmick, Clay, Sonic Man and... Machine Man!  I was surprised to find out a few years later that there was a real hero going by that name - with similar abilities to the ones I came up with.  My guy was more of a Cliff Steel Robotman type.  Has anyone else had a similar experience?

G.I. Robot and Magnus: Robot Fighter

When I was a kid, I inherited a stack of comics from my older brothers.  They were ninety percent Marvel and DC.  The remaining comics were Archie, Disney and Harvey titles, so the Big Two were my main outlet for super-heroic adventure.  The few Gold Key comics featuring Magnus were an exception, and I was intrigued by this guy who had no connection to the larger comic book universes that I was discovering.  I must not have been the only one because he is a character that never seems to stay down for long.

The Hulk and Magnus, Robot Fighter

Pretty much any time I see an image of Magnus, he is smashing some kind of robot to bits.  Seems to me that he would be just the kind of guy that The Hulk would not mind joining forces with.  No need for any major strategy sessions, just see a robot and pound away!

Magnus: Robot Fighter and Ultron

I am hoping that the post-credits teaser scene after Guardians of the Galaxy will be some footage of Avengers: The Age of Ultron, just to give a tease of what that film will be like.  There is just so much that Joss Whedon is going to have to cram into the film, with all of the new characters and repercussions from the various solo movies. I know they are still filming and effects work probably hasn't even begun, but it would be nice to see something to whet our appetites for next summer.

Magnus: Robot Fighter Vs. Magneto

It is going to be interesting to see Magneto played by both Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellan in next summer's X-Men: Days of Future Past.  McKellan was too old for the part even in the first X-Men film, but I liked his interpretation enough that I was able to overlook that.  I thought Fassbender did a great job in X-Men: First Class, and he had the physique and presence to closer emulate the character from the comics.  The sequel looks to be quite different from the DOFP comic storyline, so who knows where Magneto will wind up by the end of the time-bending tale.  Will Bryan Singer bring things around to reflect the comics more, or will the franchise continue to stake out it's own wonky continuity?  I guess we will all find out next year.
