Power Girl and Kitty Pryde

 

When Barak Blackburn, a Patron of this Blog, Suggested I pair Kitty Pryde and Power Girl together, along with their pets, the cat lover in me could not resist. My cat Ace is quite a handful all on his own, I can only imaging the mischief he would get into if he had super powers.  Thanks for the idea, Barak!

Legion of Super Pets and Pet Avengers

 

This is a team up that has been suggested for years.  I had been meaning to get to it, but the images never seemed to work together.  Either the art styles were too different or the poses did not fit with each other.  So, I am glad that I was at long last able to put this meeting of the pets together and finally cross it off of my suggestions note page.  It would definitely be a fun story to read.

Legion of Super-Pets and The Herculoids

 

I've always been a fan of The Herculoids, and mostly because of the alien creatures on the team.  I liked that they were not treated as pets, but equal members of the roster.  Alex Toth's amazing designs made them always look cool, despite the limited animation.  My only gripe was Zok the Dragon's loud screech, which was a bit overused and could get a little annoying.

Power Pack and The Legion of Super-Pets

There's just something so fun about a team of heroic animals.  I am an animal lover so the concept appeals to me as goofy as it is.  Of course, when I was a kid, it didn't seem goofy to me at all, I took their adventures just as seriously as I did their human counterparts.  My current cat Ace has no extra-feline powers, but I know within him beats the heart of a champion.

The Legion of Super-Pets and Lockjaw

The prospect of an Inhumans movie is an exciting one, even if it is still years away.  I am especially looking forward to Lockjaw joining Rocket Racoon, Cosmo and Howard the Duck in Marvel's growing stable of animal superheroes on the big screen.  I have always thought the teleporting pooch was such a cool character in concept and appearance and it will be a treat to see him become the next scene stealer.

Cat Precinct

Ever since I featured Ace and the Dogs of War, an all-canine team, I have gotten requests for a feline equivalent. It took me a while to come up with something suitable, because let's face it - dogs are a lot more agreeable than cats.  I love the little guys but they certainly have their own agendas.

The Legion of Super-Pets and Rocket Raccoon

Back in 1978, audiences were promised, "You will believe a man can fly", and with the release of Superman: The Movie they saw that promise fulfilled. Now over three decades later, the new promise is, "You will believe a raccoon can operate a machine gun!"  Guardians of the Galaxy looks to be a lot of fun, and I hope that audiences respond to it, so that some more of comics' far-out concepts will be considered for film adaptations.

The Thing and The Legion of Super-Pets

One of the reasons the The Thing is such a great character is the fact that you can insert him into any type of story. One issue can be full of dark, psychological topics and serious business, ans then the next issue he's dealing with a team of talking animals. I've always gotten a kick out of animal sidekicks to superheroes, being a pet lover myself. It's kind of cool to see things like the Krypto animated series and Marvel's Pet Avengers... these concepts can seem hokey but I think they serve as a great entry point for younger readers to the world of comics.

Batman and The Legion of Super-Pets

I am a big animal lover as my family always had plenty of pets when I was growing up. For that reason, the concept of a super group made up of animal sidekicks was quite appealing to me. I still have a cat but her main superpower is the ability to wake me up at the same exact time each morning. Actually, that has come in handy more than once.

I still think pet superheroes are a great way to introduce the youngest viewers and readers into the world of comics. The animated Krypto: the Super-Dog and Marvel's Pet Avengers mini-series are a step in the right direction.

This was a very early request and I could never quite match up the contrast with all of the characters. Then someone suggested that the Legion of Super-Pets were zapping in from the Phantom Zone and I thought that was a no-prize worthy explanation!
