Swamp Thing, Kermit the Frog and Grogu

They are a trio of green good guys that are right at home in the swamps of Dagobah.  It might be fun to see how they would interact, and just what kind of mission calls for all of their special sets of skills.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Vs. Count Von Count

This oddball cover comes about from a suggestion by Bob Greenwade, a Patron of this blog.  I think there might have been an episode of Buffy The Vampires Slayer where some of the cast were transformed into puppets, so she's had experience with this type of menace.  You just know the felt and fangs would fly during this fracas!

Evil Ernie and Bert

Happy Halloween!

I always liked Bert as a kid.  He seemed like a kindred soul, a little nerdy in his love for collecting paper clips.  I also remember my little mind being blown away when I saw his full body as he was doing "The Pigeon" dance on an episode of Sesame Street.  Pretty impressive Muppetry, I must say!

The Newshounds

Reporter is a common seen occupation in the comics, either through supporting characters, the media commenting on a hero's actions or even the alter ego of the hero themselves.  So a team of reporters seems to me like it would lend itself to all kinds of stories.  Especially if the team members all had their own secrets to hide.

Iron Fist and Miss Piggy

I have read reports that there has been some trouble with Netflix' ability to figure out the proper direction to go with concerning their upcoming Iron Fist series.  I loved what they did with Daredevil, so I am confident that they will work something out.  Still, if they want inspiration, they should look no further than Matt Fraction's Immortal Iron Fist run from ten years or so ago.  I'd love to see the first year or two adapted.

Thanks to Adam Stockman, a patron of this blog in excellent standing, for the crazy offbeat suggestion for this cover!

Superman and Super Grover

I was the perfect age when Sesame Street first hit the airwaves and still remember watching those early episodes with my sister.  My favorite parts were anything animated and of course, the Muppet characters.  Grover became my quick favorite, mainly because I thought that he was really funny.  The fact that he would sometimes appear as Super Grover just put him over the top!

The Saturn 6

Just because you are tasked with protecting the cosmos, it doesn't mean that you can't do it with an enjoyment of the job and a healthy dose of humor.  That's the idea behind this team.  I think the biggest challenge that they might face is determining who to lead the group - they all seem to be the type that are more comfortable with handing out orders rather than following them.

Kermit the Frog and Throg

I was born at the perfect time for The Muppet Show.  I grew up with Kermit on Sesame Street and as I outgrew that he branched off into his own entertainment show.  I loved it and remember thinking it was cool that my Dad liked the humor on it just as much as I did.  The first three seasons were released on DVD and I truly enjoyed re-watching all of the old episodes, they brought back so many memories and still made me laugh.  For some reason the rest of the series has never been released.  I can't imagine sales on the first three seasons could have been that bad, so I wonder why.  With the M Muppets returning to the movies, I figured I would hear something about more DVD/Blu-Ray releases, but nothing yet.

Band of Critters

Sometimes you have to take a break from all the angst and fisticuffs that comics usually offer and just kick back with good friends. good times and good music.  That's what today's cover is all about. Not only is this a group of some of the most likable characters, they all have an affinity for playing musical instruments.  I think it would definitely be cool to see them joining together in a jam session.

Martian Manhunter Vs. The Cookie Monster

When J.M. DeMatteis and Keith Giffen took over the reins of Justice League, they gave us a team unlike any league we had seen before.  Humor was served in equal doses with superhero action, and it was a refreshing change from the grim and gritty trend that had been dominating the comics scene at the time.  One little character bit that they added which I really liked was The Martian Manhunter's love of "Choco" cookies.  It was a fun way to inject some humor and personality into a hero that is known to be quiet and stoic.  Not everyone could be the wise crackers that Blue Beetle and Mister Miracle were, after all.

Batman and Super Grover

Out of all the Muppet characters on Sesame Street, Grover was far and away my favorite.  He was always funny and I used to love The Monster at the End of this Book.  The fact that Grover would often appear as Super Grover of course put him over the top for me.  When Kermit spun off into The Muppet Show, I think Grover could have easily gone along with him, he would have fit right in with that crowd.  I am glad to see The Muppets getting another shot at the big screen soon, the trailers for the upcoming film look like a lot of fun and it really feels as though the filmmakers are just as big Muppet fans as I am.  In this day of Pixar and CGI created children's characters, it's nice to see some old-school favorites getting some love.
