Batman, Mightor and Turok

Here are a couple of heroes that I never got around to pairing with Batman during my Brave and the Bold: The Lost Issues days.  I figured it might be fun to put all three together.  Add in a bunch of dinosaurs and you have an issue that would have delighted 12 year old me.

Batman and Solar: Man of the Atom

Are we going to have a skinny Batman?  Robert Pattinson posted some recent pics of himself, and it does indeed look like his figure is still rather slight, despite filming being at least a third the way completed for the new movie.  Maybe, the suit will help the appearance of his physique.  I've always liked director Matt Reeves' visual style, so I still have hope that the Caped Crusader will look appropriately cool.

Magnus: Robot Fighter meets C-3PO and R2D2

The latest trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker features an ominous moment where it appears that C-3PO is saying goodbye to his allies for the last time.  If they must kill of the beloved droid, I hope that he at least sacrifices himself in a heroic manner.  I'm still mad at the way they had Admiral Ackbar go out like a punk in The Last Jedi.

Magnus: Robot Fighter Vs. The Terminator

The first two Terminator films are such classics, it's too bad that later installments ave failed to capture the mac of those films.  While the last three films each had a cool action scene or two, they haven't really been worthy of what had gone before.  Like the Aliens and Predator franchises, I am sure that Hollywood will keep trying, though.  I think the only thing that could really get me excited is if James Cameron returned as director, but he has moved on to Avatar unfortunately.

Iron Fist and Rai

Mike Colter, Netflix' Luke Cage, let it slip that Iron Fist has been cast for the character's self titled show.  I had read that there was some trouble as far as getting the series up and running, so it is good to hear that it seems to be getting on track.  The friendship between Luke Cage and Danny Rand is one of my favorites in comics and it is going to be great to see that explored on screen.

Judge Dredd Vs. Deadpool & Bloodshot

This cover came about as a request from Patron in excellent standing Tom Zilla.  I hope he doesn't mind the addition of Judge Dredd, but when thinking of a worthy antagonist for these two healing factor enhanced mercs, and he immediately came to mind.  I recently picked up the first issue of the revamped Bloodshot series and I was pleasantly surprised.  It definitely has me curious about what happens next.

Devil Dinosaur and Turok: Dinosaur Hunter

This pairing is another suggestion from Tom Zilla.  Tom is a Patron of the blog in excellent standing, so I was more than happy to oblige (I take note of all ideas, but Patrons get moved to the top of the list). With Jurassic Park once again a box office phenomenon, perhaps the time is ready to see Turok or ol' Devil Dinosaur up on the big screen?  Well maybe not - but I know I would be front row!

The Vision and Magnus: Robot Fighter

Like many, I felt that The Vision was the best part of Avengers: Age of Ultron.  Even though his origins differed from the comics, I enjoyed how he was depicted in appearance and performance.  I look forward to seeing him in future films, fully utilizing his abilities - we only got the quickest glimpse of him phasing this time around.  We also got a quick look between him and Wanda, and I hope that was a hint that the romance from the comics will make its way to the movies.

Batman and Shadowman

DC looks to have a huge presentation ready for this year's San Diego Comic Con, and with Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice and Suicide Squad sizzle reels ready to go, it seem we will get our first real looks at Ben Affleck in action as the Dark Knight.  I am sure there will be some more surprises as well - maybe more word on casting for Green Lantern or Shazam.  I really hope we will get an Affleck-directed Batman solo film eventually - he seems to have the right feel for it.

Scalphunter and Turok: Dinosaur Hunter

The newest installment in the Jurassic Park franchise is about to hit theaters and I wonder if it will be able to recapture some of the magic from the first film.  Chris Pratt certainly has the acting chops to anchor the movie, but some of the plot points - creating new hybrid dinosaurs, training raptors to work with humans - sound pretty wonky.  I may wait for the rental on this one.

Firestorm and Solar: Man of the Atom

I am curious to see what form Firestorm Takes in the upcoming Legends of Tomorrow TV series.  Victor Garber, who plays Martin Stein, is making the leap from The Flash, but Robbie Amell's Ronnie Raymond is not listed among the cast.  My guess is that Ronnie will be killed off in an early episode of The Flash next season, which will turn his bride Caitlin Snow closer to her Killer Frost persona.  Stein will need a new partner and that's where Jason Rusch will enter the scene, just in time for the new series.  I'm a big Ronnie fan, as he was one of the heroes I followed from the very beginning, but I liked Jason as well, so that will still be cool to see.  Hopefully if this turns out to be the case, Firestorm's appearance will be a little closer to his comic book counterpart.

Machine Man & Jocasta Vs. Magnus: Robot Fighter

Like a lot of young comic fans, I created my own comics as a kid.  I had a whole bunch - Alastor the Avenger (who I spoke briefly on in my STF 1000th Issue Spectacular) was my main guy, but I created some other heroes and villains for him to interact with (when I wasn't teaming him with a real DC or Marvel hero).  There was The Lynx, The Gimmick, Clay, Sonic Man and... Machine Man!  I was surprised to find out a few years later that there was a real hero going by that name - with similar abilities to the ones I came up with.  My guy was more of a Cliff Steel Robotman type.  Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Daredevil and Quantum & Woody

The trailer for The Marvel/Netflix Daredevil series has been released and while it did not show a whole lot, it gave a good indication of the tone.  This looks to be a very gritty production, which is fitting for the character.  DD is wearing the prototype outfit from Frank Miller and John Romita Jr's Daredevil: The Man Without Fear mini-series, but it has been promised that the look will evolve.  Hopefully we will see Matt Murdock in his full red glory by the end of this first season,.. the good news is that all 13 episodes will be released at once!

G.I. Robot and Magnus: Robot Fighter

When I was a kid, I inherited a stack of comics from my older brothers.  They were ninety percent Marvel and DC.  The remaining comics were Archie, Disney and Harvey titles, so the Big Two were my main outlet for super-heroic adventure.  The few Gold Key comics featuring Magnus were an exception, and I was intrigued by this guy who had no connection to the larger comic book universes that I was discovering.  I must not have been the only one because he is a character that never seems to stay down for long.

The Hulk and Magnus, Robot Fighter

Pretty much any time I see an image of Magnus, he is smashing some kind of robot to bits.  Seems to me that he would be just the kind of guy that The Hulk would not mind joining forces with.  No need for any major strategy sessions, just see a robot and pound away!

X-O Manowar Vs. Iron Man

This is another team up that I am surprised has never happened (unless I missed it).  Not only do they have the suits of armor in common, master of metallic heroes Bob Layton is closely connected to each hero.  If they ever really do cross over, Layton should definitely be at the top of the list to be involved.

Solar: Man of the Atom and Radioactive Man

Even if you aren't a huge Simpsons fan, it is definitely worth checking out the various Radioactive Man comics from Bongo if you love comic books.  The Simpsons has always been a comic friendly show, but the Radioactive Man comics are where the passion for the medium really comes out.  They are chock full of references to classic characters, story lines, quotes and artistic styles from the comic books we all grew up loving.  They are pretty darn funny as well!  It's clear that the creators of these stories are huge fans of the genre.

This issue marks the end of an era for The Lost Issues.  This will be the final cover created with MS Paint.  Beginning tomorrow, all covers will be created with Photoshop.  April 4 will mark the Three Year point for The Lost Issues and with over 850 covers, I am glad that I got the opportunity to show some of what was possible with a relatively simple program like Paint, even if many of the early attempts were pretty rough.  It's time to move forward though, and Photoshop has rejuvenated me.  I will caution against expecting any immediate leap in quality though - tomorrow's cover was literally created the day I downloaded PS.  So please be patient as I go through my growing pains while learning the bells and whistles of this cool new tool.

As always, thanks for following and hopefully the best is yet to come!

Captain Atom and Solar: Man of the Atom

These two atomic heroes have been around for decades and have each been published by multiple comic companies, so I thought it was about time they shared an adventure together.  I have liked Captain Atom since his introduction to the DCU in Crisis on Infinite Earths, but I didn't have a chance to try out his New 52 series.  I'm not crazy about his recent redesign as I think it makes him look too similar to The Silver Surfer.  I haven't read as much of Solar, but I have always liked the cool artwork associated with the character, from the classic Gold Key covers to Barry Windsor-Smith's beautiful work during his first Valiant run.
