The Inferior Five Vs. Galactus

I don't think that any comic fan was satisfied with the Galactus that we were given in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (except maybe the producers of Green Lantern, who made the same villainous cloud mistake with Parallax). I guess the silver lining is that a true representation of the World Devourer will not seem like a re-tread if Marvel ever wants to explore that story line again, once the Fantastic Four is brought into the MCU.

Thank you to Bob Greenwade, a Patron of this blog, for suggesting this lopsided match up!

The Fantastic Four Vs. The Inferior Five

I took my super heroes very seriously as a kid so I never checked out The Inferior Five, which looked to me like it was mocking them.  Of course, I can now see that it was a title that was actually ahead of its time, having fun with the conventions of the genre many years before the likes of Damage Control, Ambush Bug, Great Lakes Avengers or Sensational She-Hulk hit the stands.

This cover comes about from a suggestion by David Welsh, a Patron of the blog - thanks David!

The Inferior Five Vs. The Defenders

It was fun to see the Hulk back in action in Avengers: Age of Ultron (A blast of a movie, even if the safe house scenes did drag and Ultron's appearance & character were a bit off for me) , but I have to say that I was hoping he would get a little more dialogue.  He didn't even get to speak at all this time around, unless I missed it.  I think the Hulk works much better with The Defenders anyway.  It's too bad that scattered rights issues will prevent a film with the above cast from appearing together for the foreseeable future.

The Thing and The Inferior Five

I enjoyed the Inferior Five's brief return recently in an issue of J. Michael Straczynski's Brave and the Bold run. They were a comedic superhero group years before such a thing became a common occurrence. I have to admit as a young lad I was a bit mesmerized by Joe Orlando's Dumb Bunny illustrations. Ben Grimm usually provides the laughs in the stories he is involved in, but this is one case where I think he would end up playing the straight man.
