Wildcat and The Cat

Regular STF visitors know that Tigra is Wildcat's niece, as outlined in STF #2551.  They first shared a cover on STF #1265, and last appeared together in the middle of a 7-part tale in STF #3667... I thought that for this time I would present a story that took place while Greer Grant Nelson was still in her original Cat identity.

The Cat Vs. Cheetah

New rumors are stating that the Wonder Woman sequel will be a Cold War adventure, set in the 1980's.  This is an interesting way to go.  I do hope that it doesn't rule out the possibility of her most iconic foe, Cheetah, showing up in a major way.  I'd love to finally see Barbara Minerva as a live action antagonist.

The Cat and Cheetah first tangled in STF #633...

Catwoman and The Cat

Dave Stevens and John Romita Sr. are remembered for for the heroic exploits of The Rocketeer and Spider-Man (among other heroes), and for good reason.  But when I think of these legends, my mind immediately goes to their gorgeous depictions of the supporting female players in the comics they illustrated.  For my money, it's hard to top these two as far as beautifully drawn women in comics go.  Many other artists have concentrated on the sex appeal aspect, and while that was present in their work, Stevens' and Romita's ladies had a personality and inner beauty that always seemed to shine through even in static comic images.

Catwoman would cross paths again with Greer Grant in her later career as Tigra...

Wonder Woman and The Cat

Gal Gadot has been announced as receiving the role of Wonder Woman in the upcoming Batman/Superman film.  I have only seen her in one small role on one of the Fast and Furious sequels, so I don't have much to judge her acting abilities on.  She looks right for the part - I have heard complaints that she was too lean, but I understand she is on a workout regimen to add muscle mass, so that isn't a concern to me.  I just hope the part is written well, it still strikes me a bit odd that she is even in the movie at all.  Will she be an intregal part of the plot, or a small cameo at the end, hinting at things to come?  Part of me suspects that this and a JLA movie may be filmed back-to-back, and that is why DC seems to be getting their Justice League cast members together.

Batman and The Cat

I had wanted to do a 100-Page Issue for this project since I started it. I used to love those special issues when I was a kid, there would be a new feature story and then the rest of the comic was jam packed with cool reprints. It was through those reprints that I was introduced to all the great characters and creators of past years, and I truly began to see the full scope of entertainment that comics had to offer.

I like that this cover hints at a long history of adventures with Batman and The Cat – hey, I think it is only natural, she really is his type if past girlfriends are any indication! The Cat was of course Greer Nelson, who later went on to be transformed into an actual she-feline and took on the name Tigra, thus making the leap from D-lister to C-lister. Her costume was later adopted by former model Patsy Walker, who went by the moniker Hellcat.
