Thunderbolts and Plastic Man

Yes, Eel O'Brien also has a past working outside the law, but would this team made up of former members of the Masters of Evil tolerate his humor and antics? I'm not quite sure about that, but I bet it would make for an interesting read.

The Thing and Mon-El

A Star-Trek-related mission that has to be kept secret from Starfleet, the LSH and FF?  I know I'd be interested in finding out just what's going on in this issue. I'm glad I could finally feature this pairing, which I have been meaning to get to since my MTIO: The Lost Issues days.

Black Lightning and Black Widow

Here's another pairing that I am surprised to just be getting to. Now that I see them side by side they got together very well visually.  It's not hard to come up with stories that would involve both of them, either.

Legion of Super-Heroes and Captain America (Part Two)

Presenting the middle chapter of a three-part epic!  We are starting to get an idea of what Captain America's secret mission entails - but just what is he drafting Val Armorr to do?  You'll have to make sure to come back tomorrow for the thrilling conclusion to find out!

West Coast Avengers Vs. The Fatal Five

The wonderfully creepy Fatal Five was always a welcome sight in the Legion of Super-Heroes stories that I read growing up.  Easily my favorite LSH villains, I wish they had battled other teams in the DCU more regularly.  How do you think they would have fared against the WCA?

Domino and The Black Racer

Domino was a character that was getting popular just as I was getting out of the X-Men titles as they were getting a bit too convoluted for me. I knew that she had good luck abilities similar to Shamrock and Longshot, but not much else. I'm not sure how accurate the depiction in Deadpool 2 was, but I enjoyed Zazie Beetz' performance and her powers were visualized very well - I hope' she'll be back when Deadpool comes to the MCU.

Plastic Man and J. Jonah Jameson

Presenting Part One of a Two-Part Tale! Jameson has been known to hire oddball characters to help him target the Wall-Crawler, so I can see this story happening.  A clash seems inevitable - but there's one person that might be able to stop things from getting too out of control (longtime STF visitors may have an idea as to who that is).  Make sure you come back tomorrow to see how it all shakes out!

Colossus and Robotman

So, we know that Deadpool will be coming to the MCU, still played by Ryan Reynolds, but how much if anything from his first two films will be carried over?  Will he still be working with Colossus out of the Westchester X-Mansion?  I imagine that Marvel will not want to be stuck with all of the choices that the Fox Studios made.  Perhaps it will just be Reynolds in the role that makes the cut, with everything else rewritten.  It will be interesting to see what direction is taken, and how fourth wall-breaking Deadpool reacts to it.

Captain Marvel and Firestorm

I like Annette Bening as an actress but using her in place of comic-accurate depictions of both Mar-Vell and The Supreme Intelligence in Captain Marvel was a huge missed opportunity for me. If they had to gender bend Mar-Vell, they could have still at least given us a scene of a de-aged Bening depicting the original Captain Marvel in action in her prime.  And I get the idea that everyone sees The Supreme Intelligence in their own way, but couldn't one person have seen it as a a big giant green floating head with tentacles?  Maybe future installments of the franchise can remedy these fan favorite oversights.

Legion of Super-Heroes and The Sub-Mariner

Aquaman was such a surprise big hit that not only has a sequel been announced, but also a spin-off horror movie based on The Trench.  I thought that they looked great in the movie and I really enjoyed the scenes that they appeared in - but can they support a film all by themselves?  Do they even speak?  I guess they could tell the story of how they mutated over the years into their current forms.

Legion of Super-Heroes and Cloak & Dagger

Brainiac 5 has been made a series regular for the upcoming season of Supergirl, and I hope that means that there's hope for a few more legionnaires to show up.  We've already seen Saturn Girl and Mon El, and I'd like to see Chameleon Boy, Phantom Girl, Wildfire, Dawnstar, Ultra Boy or Bouncing Boy appear - but really anyone will do.  Maybe if enough members are introduced and strike a chord with audiences, we can finally get a live action LSH spinoff show on the air.

Mister Miracle and Forge

Mister Miracle seems to be having a good year, with a new comic series that has been getting rave reviews and now the word of a New Gods film in development. He has such a signature look created by Jack Kirby, I hope that it is done justice in live action.  As a performer, there's no reason that his colorful costume, cape with high collar and all, should not be represented.  If I start seeing footage of Scott Free and Barda running around wearing black leather instead of their iconic looks, I will be sorely disappointed.

Doom Patrol and Vision & The Scarlet Witch

I liked the late 80's revival of Doom Patrol, especially the first few issues illustrated by Steve Lightle.  The title, like the team it featured, was very unstable.  After Lightle's too early departure, a replacement artist was found in Erik Larsen, who's style was markedly different from what had gone before.  Just  as readers were getting used to the new direction, the book took another big turn when writer Grant Morrison came on board and introduced a host of offbeat characters and concepts.  Eventually, it became part of the Vertigo Imprint, and it finally got a bit too weird for my taste and lost me.  The Doom Patrol never stay down for long, though.  They've been revived multiple times since then and I imagine they will be again.

Fantastic Four and The Legion of Super-Heroes

I was wondering where Marvel Studios is go with their films in Phase Three of their plans.  Now that a deal between Disney and Fox seems imminent, a whole new world of possibilities are opening up.  Finally a decen't Fantastic Four movie, an X-Men saga with the proper timeline, costumes and characters, Secret Wars, a comics-accurate Defenders team, Beast in the Avengers... so many places to go.  I especially want a big screen Thing Vs. Hulk fight - something I have been waiting my whole life to see!

The Roustabouts Return!

As I mentioned when The Roustabouts first appeared on this blog, no circus-based team is complete without the addition of Deadman.  So, here's the official initiation issue!  He's one of my absolute favorite characters and I can't believe I forgot to include him the first time around.

Aquaman & Mera and Stingray

Images of Amber Heard as Mera from Justice League and Aquaman have surfaced, and she looks just about perfect.  Jason Mamoa's Aquaman second costume has bees seen as well, and it's looking pretty cool too, closer to the classic orange and green look.  I can't wait to see them in action, especially Mera using her water-controlling abilities.

Stingray had a solo adventure with Aquaman in STF #1612, and they are both members of The Agents of the Abyss... He also had a solo outing with Mera in STF #856...

The Creeper Vs. Wolverine

Usually, this is where I would include my review of Logan, but I haven't seen it yet.  I thought the first solo Wolverine film was a mess and the second, while a big step up in quality, was just okay.  This third outing had some nice reviews and good buzz, but frankly all of the footage I saw was of old Wolverine and Professor X hanging out in the desert with a little kid - kind of small scale action that would be more suitable for a rental.  So I will ask my knowledgeable visitors - as spoiler free as you can keep it, did I make the right decision?  Or should I head out to the theater to see Logan on the big screen?

Karate Kid and Zen: Intergalactic Ninja

I remember being puzzled that of all of the Legion of Super-Heroes to get a solo series, Karate Kid was the first one.   At the time I would have preferred maybe Ultra Boy or Chameleon Lad.  Looking back, I realize that DC was trying to get in on the kung fu/karate craze so it makes more sense to me now.

Microforce

I was hoping that since The Atom's suit was destroyed on DC's Legends of Tomorrow, there would be a new streamlined version closer to the comics once he rebuilt.  From footage I have seen of future episodes, it looks like he will be back to the clunky Iron Man-type design with the ugly helmet.  What's worse in the upcoming Justice League of America comic, the Ryan Choi Atom appears to be adopting a costume to more closely resemble the TV version.  They're doing it backwards, it's Hawkeye all over again!

Superboy and She-Hulk

OK, let me try to get this straight.... The Bruce Banner Hulk has been killed off but there's a new "totally awesome" Hulk in Amadeus Cho, and meanwhile Jennifer Walters is now angry and brooding and goes  by simply The Hulk now as well.  Plus I think there are still "Red" versions of these characters running around.  Comics have gotten weird.

You can't really blame them for having new rules at Gamma House, considering what happened when the Teen Titans met another Hulk there...
