The Quarrymen in: "Rock and Rule!"

I'm surprised that it took me until the fourth appearance of The Quarrymen to pit them against Terrax.  It seems like a natural confrontation, and I am betting that this former herald of Galactus will give them a run for their money.

Hawkman & Hawkwoman and Lady Sif & The Warriors Three

For the concluding chapter of this Three-Part Epic, it looks like we have all hands on deck to take on the menace of Earth-STF's greatest menace - Mr. Universe!  Let's hope their combined efforts can finally put him away for good.  He's a tough one though, you never know when he will pop up next!

The Spirit and Deadpool

I'm very curious as to what the next Deadpool movie will look like.  It has been confirmed that the franchise will retain its R rating, but I have to imagine that being under the Disney umbrella will alter the tone at least a little.  I just look forward to whatever MCU heroes he comes in contact with.  I'd love for him to see She Hulk break the fourth wall and what his reaction to that would be.

Captain America and The Suicide Squad

Upon completing this entry, I made one new rule for myself going forward: No more barbed wire and chain link fences!  Man, this was a tough one to do.  Separating the fencing from the background was very painstaking and took much longer than I had expected.  Then I realized it wasn't working to just stick the Squad members behind that layer, and I wound up having to digitally separate them and add back in to make sure nobody was too obscured by any foreground elements or each other.  This turned out to be a pretty challenging cover, but I am happy with the final results.

Doctor Mid-Nite, Doctor Fate and Doctor Strange

It's always good to get a second opinion, even in the world of super-heroics!  Doctor Strange has met with these JSA Doctors in other STF tales:

Strange and Fate shared a two-part tale in STF #1156, where they sought help from the TMNT in STF #1157,  they fought a Rat-God in STF #549 , and first met in STF #30,...

Strange and Mid-Nite met in STF #2721...

Hourman and Daredevil in: "Pre-Dawn Partnership!"

I paired these two together in STF #2892, but I wanted to revisit this combo for a slightly earlier adventure, so that I could use Daredevil's original costume.  Until looking at them side by side, I never realized how similar their looks were. I'm guessing that DD would draw the line at wearing a cape though!

Batgirl and The Rocketeer

Lots of rumors are swirling as to what it will mean if Michael Keaton does indeed return to the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman for a The Flash and more DC movies.  Reports that he will be taking on a mentor role has folks (myself included) hoping to see a Batman Beyond film.  Then there's the rumor that he will be a guiding hand in a Batgirl movie.  I think that could kind of work, it will be interesting to see what kind of direction is taken with it.

Commissioner Gordon and Spider-Man

This might be a interesting set up.  How different would Spider-Man's career be if he operated out of a city that had a more cooperative view to his crime-fighting activities?

I look forward to the upcoming season of Gotham.  Given that this has been announced to be the final season for the show, I expect them to go all out and throw everything at the wall.  This year's episodes promise to be even crazier than usual.

Orion and Medusa

I'm still scratching my head at many of the decisions made for the now cancelled Inhumans TV series.  Making it a TV show instead of a film was probably the first one, its a property that really needs a big budget to present well.  Having almost all of the characters stripped of their powers for most of the series didn't help either - chopping Medusa's hair off in the first episode, never having it return?  I know it has happened in the comics before, but it's not what I was hoping to see.  This is one property I wouldn't mind giving the Marvel Cinematic Universe a do-over on.

Wildcat and Hawkeye

Avengers Spotlight, once titled Solo Avengers, was a fun comic.  Not only was it the first time that Hawkeye had an ongoing series of his own, each issue had a back-up feature that focused on another Avenger that was in need of more exposure.  I liked finally seeing Hawkeye's back story filled out and enjoyed the rotation of artist and writers.  These days, there are many Avengers spin off comics, but it was still a cool thing to see back in the late 80's.

The X-Files investigate The Spectre

In this age of Netflix and other streaming services, binge watching a TV series is commonplace.  I think The X-Files was the first show that I binge watched, and I did it the hard way.  I had missed the first few seasons, so to catch up, I would rent the earlier episodes from my video store and try to watch them in order.  The show may have outstayed its welcome a bit, but those first few years were a lot of fun.

Black Widow Vs. Superman: Red Son

DC's Elseworlds stories were usually a lot of fun, even if a few began to be a little repetitive.  A few really rose above the rest for me - Batman: Holy Terror, Flashpoint (the first one, a 3-issue mini-series), Gotham by Gaslight (which started it all) and of course, Superman: Red Son.

Thanks to Journeyman Studios, a Patron of this blog, for the inspiration behind this cover!

Spider-Man Vs. Deathstroke The Terminator

I think that this would be a very fun match-up - not only because their power sets would make for a battle in which either could conceivably win, but because of their disparate personalities.  The no-nonsense Slade Wilson would have no patience for Spidey's one-liners, and I am betting that Spidey would have a lot to say if they faced off.

The Thing Vs. Geo-Force

Here's a team up that I can't believe I never got to when I was doing my lost MTIO run.  Given Geo-Force's abilities to control The Earth's gravitational field and manipulate rock & stone, this could be a very interesting battle.  The thing I always thought was cool about Geo-Force was his relationship with his sister, Terra - the traitorous Teen Titan.  However, once she was killed off, DC never seemed to know what to do with Prince Brion of Markovia.  I have yet to see him appear in the New 52, hopefully he won't be just another victim of the reboot.

Harley Quinn and The Punisher

I thought I would put together a new romance for Valentine's Day.  There aren't a lot of characters that would give Harley Quinn the same thrill to be with that she gets from The Joker, but Frank Castle might just fit the bill.  Of course, he may not always reciprocate her feelings, but since when has that stopped Harley?  Whatever the result of this match made in Arkham, it would certainly be fun to read about.
