Nightwing and Puck

Nightwing previously faced off against The Ringmaster with The Roustabouts in STF #2410, and with Nightcrawler way back in STF #68...

Lobo Vs. Sabretooth

Who do you think wins this fight?  I think that Lobo might have a slight edge, but it would be a long and bloody battle.  Then again, Sabretooth just doesn't stay down...

Venom and Green Lantern

I can still remember reading an issue of The Comic's Buyers' Guide and seeing plans for a new all-black Spider-Man suit.  I didn't think Marvel would stick with such a drastic change for more than an issue or two, but had to admit the new costume as illustrated by Rick Leonardi looked pretty cool.  Little did I realize what it would lead to. To think that Jim Shooter purchased the design off of a fan for a few hundred bucks!

Nightwing Vs. Electro

It was cool to see Jamie Foxx get another chance to play Electro, especially with the redesign that he was given.  The nerdy, obsessed with Spider-Man version from his original appearance was a little too close to the Jim Carrey Riddler origin from Batman Forever for my taste.  Even better than the attitude change was the updated look that he received.  I loved how the energy crackling around him would form the classic star-shaped helmet when he let loose with his powers - a great way to get that tough to pull off design in there.

Swamp Thing Vs. Thanos

I have been re-watching the Silver Surfer animated series and getting a kick out the Jack Kirby designs and of all the Marvel characters they included.  It's interesting to see quite different iterations of now popular MCU characters like Drax, Nebula, Gamora and especially Thanos.  I'm glad the movies gave him more of a motivation then mooning after Lady Chaos (couldn't use Lady Death in a cartoon, I guess)!

Catwoman Vs. Snake-Eyes

The G.I. Joe movies are hardly high art, but they both have some fun action sequences.  I'm not sure whether the franchise is done, though.  I had read rumors of a G.I. Joe/Transformers crossover film, which could be cool, but I don't know if anything ever came of that. Maybe everything hinges on The Rock's busy movie filming schedule.

Cyborg and Brother Voodoo

One frustration that I had with Cyborg in Justice League stems from his final moment in the film.  In the epilogue montage, we see him morph his robotic body into something close to the comic book version - and it looks great!  The frustration is that we only see it for all of two seconds.  If they had that design, why did they go with the "crumpled up tin foil" look for the remainder of the movie, which did not work nearly as well?  Just one of a number of maddening choices that were made for the movie.

Catwoman and Power Man & Iron Fist (Part Two)

Continued from yesterday's cover, we se nothing is ever easy where The Serpent Crown is concerned...

So, it looks like DC is really about to go through with a marriage between Batman and Catwoman. A big change, to be sure, but strong writing made it work with Superman so maybe it can work here as well.  Selina Kyle always seemed like Bruce Wayne's greatest love interest and it will be interesting where things go from here.

Red Star and Colossus

The X-Men films seem to be embracing the 80's era line up, and so I was disappointed that Colossus has not been added back into the mix,  I guess he is being reserved for the Deadpool sequel perhaps.  Hopefully Cable's arrival as new straight man won't diminish Piotr Rasputin's contributions too much.

Colossus encountered Red Star once before, on a very early MS Paint B&B cover...

The Phoenix and Deathstroke

Ben Affleck's solo Batman movie will start filming next year, and little is known about the plot other than that it will feature Deathstroke.  I am trying to think of comic stories that featured the two up against each other, but other than a few guest appearances, there isn't a whole lot.  I am assuming, then, that we will see a completely original tale.  I have liked Affleck's previous scripts, so I am optimistic that we will see a bat-flick unlike any other.

Bumblebee and The Wasp

The announced Ant-Man and The Wasp movie will no doubt feature Hope Van Dyne finally suited up an  ready for action - but what of the original Wasp, Janet Van Dyne.  While she was said to be lost to the micro-realm in the first movie, events in the last act indicated that  that may not be the one-way trip that Hank Pym thought it was - perhaps a rescue attempt is in order?  The we have Sharon Stone hinting that she has a small role in an upcoming Marvel movie... it's starting to seem like we will be seeing more of Janet after all.

Taskmaster Vs. Deathstroke

This is a battle that I would really like to see.  Both are incredible combatants, well versed in many disciplines of fighting and weapons usage.  Plus, they each have become even greater fighters by learning through their many encounters with various super heroes.  As the cover suggests, I feel that it would be close, but I think that Taskmaster would ultimately win this match up.

Batman and Storm

Storm is one of my favorite Marvel heroines. She is very unique in appearance, powers and history and is thankfully not just a female version of a pre-existing male character. I know she has been a big part of the Black Panther series in the past few years, but I think she is strong enough to hold down he own solo title with the right writer.

I was the perfect age for when she went through her mohawk phase back during the X-men's prime. I couldn't believe she went through such a shocking transformation and had to know more. I missed the beautiful long locks but was intrigued by her new attitude. Marvel was good about keeping the new look for just the right amount of time, too - returning her to her classic look within a few years.
