Power Man & Iron Fist and Ragman

 

Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+ is off to a strong start, and we know that The Punisher is scheduled to appear in the series.  That gives me hope that other characters from the Netflix series will get another chance.  I'd love to see a Heroes for Hire series that also includes The Daughters of the Dragon.

Whatever type of situation that would call for an alliance between these two would certainly make for a moody tale. Let's hope that this fragile truce holds long enough for them to reach their goal.

This is not a crossover that anyone was asking for, but it's one that I would get a kick out of reading. The Bronze Age of Comics brought forth some truly offbeat heroes and these guys were two of my favorites.  I can only imagine what kind of mission would bring them together.

When most of the superheroes are caught up in some type of Secret Crisis across the galaxy, who's left to mind the home front?  I think that this issue could tell one of those stories.

Pat Broderick was an underrated artist.  I was already a fan of his when Fury of Firestorm #1 hit the stands and really blew me away.  Nobody has ever been able to illustrate DC's nuclear hero as well as he looked in those early issues.  Broderick also really impressed we with his work on the Ragman maxi-series, where he used the traditional 9-panel grid comics format to great effect. 

Ragman and The Hulk in: "The Rage Within!"

 

We saw The Hulk head back to Sakaar after his appearance in She-Hulk on Disney+, which raises the question of just what his next storyline in the MCU will be.  Will he have a son waiting for him there? Will he become a Planet Hulk type ruler?  Mr. Fixit? Whatever his next move is, I hope it involves the return of his classic savage personality.

Iron Man and Ragman

 

These are two heroes that are not likely to cross paths, either in the types of cases they work on or in the the social circles that they travel in.  That's just what would make it interesting to me though.  It would be interesting for them each to see how the other half lives..

Ragman and The Falcon

 

As much fun as it might have been to pretend to be a hero like Batman or Iron Man, with unlimited resources to aid in your battle against crime, I have to say as a kid I identified a lot more with characters like Ragman.  Here was a guy who had almost nothing and operated out of a junk yard, but that didn't stop him from trying to do the right thing.  As someone with limited means, it was nice to know that not all heroes were millionaire playboys.

Sure, it's easy to become a superhero if you are a playboy millionaire - but I am more impressed with those who have chosen such a path without those kinds of vast resources.  I thought it might be fun to have a group that consisted of heroes that wage their war on injustice despite coming from the opposite side of the financial spectrum.  Don't expect a fancy headquarters - but do expect action!

Spawn Vs. Ragman

It sounds like a new Spawn movie is finally going to happen after years of teases.  Todd McFarlane himself will be directing with Jamie Foxx in the title role and Jeremy Renner as Detective Twitch.  Mcfarlane promises more of a horror film feel and less of a superhero vibe for the movie.  Even with all of the 1990's CGI that does not hold up today, I still kind of liked the first attempt when it was released, and it will be interesting to see the differences that a come about as a result of twenty years passing and having the actual creator behind the camera.

Ragman and Moon Knight

Moon Knight is one of those Marvel Character that I have been waiting for decades to make the leap to live action.  The superhero with multiple personalities gimmick could make for a very cool story, but I think the costume may be tough to pull off.  All-white with shadows hitting just the right places looks cool n the page but I can imagine it's a tough look to accomplish on screen.  Maybe an animated series would be better?

Ragman and Thor

Even though he is not an exact replica from the comics, I have enjoyed seeing Ragman in action on the current season of Arrow.  The effects they use for his living suit are effective, if a little bit fleeting - I often find myself rewinding to see what just happened.  Again, not perfect, but it is still very cool to see characters like Ragman and Wild Dog get some exposure beyond the comics.

Ragman and Spider-Man in "Patch Work"

Lots of casting for Spider-Man: Homecoming has been announced, but very few roles have been identified.  Given that the film will largely take place in high school, I am sure most will be students or teachers.  Michael Keaton seems to be back in the mix, reportedly as Adrian Toomes, The Vulture. I am really interested to see Keaton's return to the world of comics, this time in a villainous role. I wonder in her will be shaving his head?

Hellboy and Ragman

I am always happy to include an all-Mike Mignola cover on the blog.  He is such a master of light and shadow that his work looks equally gorgeous in black and white as it does in full color.  I like his take on Ragman - Joe Kubert's offbeat costume design for the character is one of my favorites and Mignola gives it just the right noirish appearance.

The Hulk Vs. Ragman

The Hulk is the latest Marvel character to change identities - Like Thor and Captain America, there will now be a new character assuming the role of the gamma blaster hero - Amadeus Cho.  I actually liked Cho in his adventures with Hercules and felt he was an interesting enough character in his own right, and didn't need to hijack a higher profile hero's gig.  Ah well, I can't believe this will be a permanent change, and I predict that Bruce Banner will reclaim his title by the time his next film appearance rolls around.

Ragman and Spider-Man

Ragman is a long-standing DC character that to the best of my knowledge has never made the leap to other media, even in shows like Justice League Unlimited and Batman: The Brave and the Bold, which featured lots of lesser known heroes and villains.  That's too bad, because I think he would look really cool in animation.  He might also fit in on Arrow if DC wanted to go the live action route.

Ragman and Daredevil in "From Rags to Stitches!"

The first images of Netflix Daredevil series have surfaced, and while some have compared the all-black outfit with no eye-holes to the costume worn in the cheesy Trial of the Incredible Hulk 80's TV Special, closer inspection reveals it to be inspired by the outfit worn by Matt Murdock in Frank Miller's Man Without Fear mini-series.  I am taking that as a good sign and I am sure  there will be a more traditional DD look eventually.

I was glad to see Ragman step back into the spotlight with his inclusion in the Shadowpact series.  I don't think that he has been seen since the New 52 reboot though.  Hopefully, he will find a home in comics again, I always loved his cool costume and back story.

Ragman and The Scarlet Witch

The good news is that The Scarlet Witch will be featured regularly in the new high-profile title Uncanny Avengers, drawn by the very talented John Cassiday. It's been a while since she has had a regular title to star in and it will be interesting to see how she interacts with other members such as Wonder Man, with whom she has quite a history.  The only thing that worries me is that the title will be written by Brian Michael Bendis, who seems to prefer the crazy unbalanced Wanda.  I really hope he moves her beyond  that stage, as I was never a fan of her whacked out homicidal phase.

I'm not sure if Ragman has appeared in the New 52 DCU yet, but I hope he finds a home soon (Justice League Dark perhaps?).  DC had been doing a good job of utilizing him before the revamp and it would be a shame to see that all go away.

Ragman and Cloak and Dagger (Part Two)

Given the cool visuals that these character have, especially when they use their powers, it's too bad that none of them have been animated yet.  I was hoping for at least a Ragman cameo on Batman: The Brave and the Bold, but that never came to pass.  The new Ultimate Spider-Man has Power Man,Iron Fist and The White Tiger as supporting characters - I think that Cloak and Dagger would fit in well there.  We'll see if they make an appearance in upcoming episodes.
