Adam Strange and the Inhumans in: "Tomorrow's Terror... Today!"

There's a little too much light pollution where I live, so I don't pull out my telescope to use very often.  When I do, I like to check out Jupiter or Saturn if I can, and looking close up at the Moon is always cool.  It makes me think about the dark side which never faces us - who's to say there isn't a Blue Area over there, just waiting for a team of heroes to call it it their home base?

Adam Strange first met The Inhumans in STF #4372...

Darkseid Vs. The Inhumans

I was a little surprised that I had not pitted these Kirby creations against each other yet.  Let's remedy that right now - it would make for an epic storyline after all!

Green Lantern & Green Arrow and The Inhumans

It was always fun to see street level hero Oliver Queen's take on the goings on when he would get into some type of cosmic adventure with Hal Jordan or the JLA. I think a tale like the one above would provide plenty of opportunities for him to make some interesting observations.

Adam Strange and The Inhumans

I've been reading the amazing three-volume Alex Toth retrospective (Genius: Isolated, Genius Illustrated and Genius: Animated), and it is fascinating to see how he developed so many properties to be cartoon series on the small screen. Both Adam Strange and The Inhumans seem to me as though they would have been perfect candidates for this treatment.  I can only imagine how cool animated shows featuring them would have been with the design work of Toth to help bring them to life.

The Creeper and The Inhumans

I always gravitated towards the offbeat heroes, so this is an issue I would have grabbed off of the stand without thinking. I can see Jack Ryder launching an investigation into what's happening on the Blue Area of the Moon and then unwittingly getting caught up in an interplanetary incident.

The Inhumans Vs. Sinestro

Sinestro was perfectly cast with Mark Strong and looked great in Green Lantern.  It's too bad the movie's various shortcomings meant there would be no sequel to explore his turn to evil.  The Inhumans TV show was ill-conceived on many levels, leaving Marvel to shift their big screen focus to The Eternals (which had issues of its own).  Let's hope that everyone on this cover gets another chance to shine in their respective cinematic universes.

All-Star Squadron and The Inhumans

I am glad that the original Justice Society members are poised for some kind of a return due to DC Rebirth.  I hope that also means that the extended cast of characters from All-Star Squadron will make some appearances as well.  Liberty Belle, Amazing man, Commander Steel, Tarantula and many others may not have been official JSA members, but I always enjoyed following their adventures.

This is only Part One of a Two-Part Epic - be sure to come back for the thrilling conclusion tomorrow!

Justice League of America Vs. The X-Men (and more!)

When it comes to Anniversary issues, there are a few that really stand out for me.  Probably my favorite is Justice League of America #200, a brilliant story that hearkened back to the team's first adventure and featured the greatest line up of artists that have ever appeared in a single issue - Kane, Bolland, Aparo, Perez, Broderick, Kubert, Giordano and Infantino - just great stuff.  I also have a fondness for Avengers #200 and Detective Comics #500.  It's too bad that with all the relaunches and renumbering that comics go through these days that such milestones are seldom reached anymore.

Batman and The Inhumans (Retro)

I have heard that The Inhumans is one of the properties up for a potential film treatment.  It would be tough to pull off, but if done well it could be a very cool idea.  I think that the Inhumans and their world contain some of the very best Jack Kirby design work and any adaptation would have to embrace the unique look that he created.  The Asgard scenes in Thor showed the potential of this, but they didn't go far enough in my opinion.  None of this showing the helmet for five seconds and then never using it again business, a motion picture Inhumans must be unashamed of it's comic book roots.  A filmmaker like Peter Jackson might be able to do it justice.

Batman and The Inhumans

I’ve been hearing good things about The Inhumans again lately. Apparently they have been playing a sizeable role in Marvel’s recent cosmic events from Annihilation onward. I am really going to have to catch up on some of that because I have been a big fan of the characters for years. I enjoyed their run in Amazing Adventures and their many guest starring appearances, as well as the stellar mini-series by Paul Jenkins and Jai Lee.

This team has a great line-up, each with an interesting look and power. My favorites are Medusa with her crazy hair, the aquatic Triton, teleporting pooch Lockjaw and their leader, Black Bolt, I think one of the best decisions made with The Inhumans was to not give Black Bolt any thought balloons, in addition to the obvious absence of speech balloons unless it is one of those rare times that he uses his devastating vocal chords. Having his thoughts and emotions conveyed solely through body language and interpretations from Medusa has made him one of the most intriguing and mysterious characters in Marvel’s possession.
