The Phoenix and Firehawk

Hey, her origin can't be crazier than Rachel Summers', after all. I always thought that Lorraine Reilly gave off kind of a Phoenix vibe with those flaming wings of hers, and thus a cover concept was born!

Firestorm and Jessica Jones

What I am wondering is where Firestorm will fit in the cinematic DCU.  I think that James Gunn is a fan of the hero, but I haven't heard anything about his inclusion yet.  He is admittedly a tough character to pull off in live action, but I hope we can see a more comics-faithful interpretation than the TV Versions we got on The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.

Firehawk and Nova

We will be seeing a female Silver Surfer in Shalla Bal for the upcoming Fantastic Four movie.  Like many, I wonder why they aren't using the Frankie Raye Nova, who became a herald to Galactus in the comics.  Yes, I know that Shalla Bal had the power of the Silver Surfer for a handful of pages in the alternate world mini-series Earth X (and then was killed off), but it still seems like an odd choice.  Superman had a giant red ant head for an issue once, but I don't expect to see him look like that in the movies after all.

Snowbird and Firehawk

We saw Shaman on the blog yesterday, now we see what his teammate Snowbird is up to.  All of the Members of Alpha Flight are interesting characters, and I'd love to see them utilized more.  Even in animation, they have only made a couple of appearances.  Who knows how far down the list they are on Marvel properties to bring to the MCU, but I hope the wait isn't too long.

Firehawk Vs. Iceman

I really liked the original design for Lorraine Reilly as Firehawk.  The flaming wings are a great visual and give the character a real sense of motion on the printed page.  She was later redesigned with a blue flame motif, and that looked cool as well - but I prefer her appearance above, as it went well with Firestorm's costume.

Firestorm and E-Man

I remember being surprised when the relatively new hero Firestorm was allowed to join the Justice League of America.  He was a welcome addition though - I really liked his interactions with other members of the team.  Superman acted as a mentor, and The Flash would get annoyed by his inexperience.  There was even a spark of romance with him and Power Girl during the JLA/JSA crossovers, I always hoped that would have gone somewhere.

Firehawk and Ben Reilly

When Shagg Matthews suggested this pairing recently, I had to give it a shot.  Not only is Shagg the man behind the always entertaining Firestorm Fan blog - an indispensable site for fans of old flame head and comics in general - and one half of the Fire &Water Podcast,  he is a Patron of STF: The Lost Issues - so how could I refuse? (You can become a Patron as well by visiting here) On top of all that it's just a cool idea!  Ben Reilly developed his own fan following despite being born out of one of the most controversial storylines ever, he even won me over eventually.  Lorraine Reilly never graduated past supporting character status, but I remember liking her appearances in Fury of Firestorm. Maybe we'll see a live action version one day if Legends of Tomorrow is a hit?

Operation: Hawk!

I like the idea of a Manchurian Candidate type of superhero team.  That is to say, a group of heroes that don't even realize that they are part of a covert team until they hear a secret phrase that springs them all into action.  Not only would you have the fun of high-stakes action, there would also be the ongoing mystery of how the team was formed in the first place.
