The Micronauts and Nightwing & Flamebird

This is just the kind of crazy circumstance that I would expect to see  in a story about The Bottle City of Kandor.  I'd think The Micronauts would be right at home there, there must be a good reason that they want out.

Nightwing & Flamebird and Power Man & Iron Fist

I thought that it was time to have a meeting between the coolest crimefighting pairs of the Silver and Bronze ages.  Sure the stories may now appear too quaint or the costumes too bright and bold to pull off in a modern setting, but I always got a kick out of reading about all of these guys.

Nightwing & Flamebird and Nomad

Nightwing & Flamebird was such a fun concept in the Silver Age.  The fact that Superman would still fight crime in a place that nullified his powers just showed how heroic he truly was, not to mention that ist showed that he picked up a lot of pointers from his adventures with Batman and Robin.  Then he let Jimmy Olsen join in on the action, solidifying his title of Superman's Pal.  The costumes were pretty cool, too!

Archie's Super-Teens Meet Nightwing and Flamebird

Superman's Silver Age tales could be very hokey, but there is an undeniable charm to them.  I loved all of the high-concept ideas that sprung from the world of Krypton.  The Bottle City of Kandor was one such cool concept, and the idea that Superman had a second super-heroic identity there just made it more fun.

Batman and Nightwing and Flamebird

This is one of my earlier covers and is a little rough. It's a bit bare, I should have probably added a caption or word balloon.

Nightwing and Flamebird was a cool concept that was right at home in the silver age: Superman, powerless in the Bottle City of Kandor, joins forces with Jimmy Olsen as a Natman and Robin type team. Fun stuff. DC has recently tried to revive the Nightwing and Flamebird names with two new characters who recently headlined Action Comics for a year. I can't speak to how well they held up the mantle, not having read the stories - but they certainly had some big shoes to fill.
