Mice Squad!

After my team covers featuring duck defenders, canine heroes and cat cops, I got some requests for a group of superhero mice as well.  There were actually a lot to choose from  There seem to be more mouse heroes out there than any other type of animal.  Maybe it's the  juxtaposition between such small fragile creatures and a larger than life alter ego that makes it such an appealing concept for creators.

Kermit the Frog and Throg

I was born at the perfect time for The Muppet Show.  I grew up with Kermit on Sesame Street and as I outgrew that he branched off into his own entertainment show.  I loved it and remember thinking it was cool that my Dad liked the humor on it just as much as I did.  The first three seasons were released on DVD and I truly enjoyed re-watching all of the old episodes, they brought back so many memories and still made me laugh.  For some reason the rest of the series has never been released.  I can't imagine sales on the first three seasons could have been that bad, so I wonder why.  With the M Muppets returning to the movies, I figured I would hear something about more DVD/Blu-Ray releases, but nothing yet.

The Atom and Mouse Guard

So far, my favorite of the new Saturday animated DC shorts has been the Sword of the Atom two-parter.  I loved that Mini-Series (and its related Specials) back in the 80's.  Gil Kane's art really shined in the tropical setting and there was something very cool about Ray Palmer riding a frog, sword in hand and ready for battle.  Mouse Guard continues the tradition of forest animals in epic tales with beautiful artwork, so this felt like it would be a fun combination.
