Ace and the Dogs of War

I love superheroes and I love dogs, so when the two are combined it really captures my interest.  I know I am not the only one who must feel that way because once I started featuring new teams on this blog, an all-pooch crew was one of the more common requests I would get.  I think a team like this, once they stopped sniffing each other's butts, would be unstoppable!

Awww, yeah!

One of my favorite movies is Underdog, with Jason Lee as the voice of Underdog and Peter Dinklage as the mad scientist.

The World's Finest is also Krypto and Ace - that's an awesome pairing!

One of my guilty pleasures as a kid was Benji. I saw that as a kid and thought it was pretty cool. But, I thought Lassie was pretty cool, too.

This could be a whole League with Krypto and Scooby Doo added to the line-up. Maybe a whole Justice League of Animals like Captain Carrot had...

Nice one! Kind of like Batman and the Outsiders.

No Scooby Doo?

This was a team for dogs who are also superheroes so Dynomutt made more sense than Scooby. Besides, Scooby is too busy as a member of Burger Masters.

I grew up on Rin Tin Tin syndicated reruns in the late '70s. So strange to see them now on AMC movie channel or youtube. I had no idea they were so "minimalist" in terms of plots and acting. And though I never saw the movie For The Love of Benjii, I read the "movie adaptation novel" a hundred times one summer in '78 in upstate New York. I would be afraid if either of these to characters were "rebooted" today, cuz I don't trust movie studios anymore with my childhood memories.

It's a shame that the Road Rovers never made it from the small screen (an undeservedly single-season run in 1993-94) to the comics page. Something with them teaming up with just about anyone in this crew would be just awesome.

Not sure why Krypto wasn't included, but otherwise I LOVE THIS COVER!

@LHJ: he was probably too busy helping Blade and Bova against Hellcow.
