Martian Manhunter Vs. Green Goblin

There is no character that I want to see join the DCU more than Martian Manhunter.  He's the heart and soul of the Justice League and I think would be a fan favorite character if the right actor plays him.  Could he be introduced in Man of Tomorrow, which promises to be a somewhat space faring adventure? I haven't heard anything but there's always hope.

The Flash and Machine Man

Now even The Flash's job is being taken over by AI?  I hope that souped up skateboard is fast enough to match his pace!

Hourman and Spider-Man in: "Rex to the Rescue!"

One reason I always had a soft spot for Hourman was his somewhat baggy mask.  Most other heroes had form fitting masks that clung perfectly to their heads. Rex Tyler's looked more like something I would have come up with at home when trying to make a superhero mask out of a winter hat or something.  It made him kind of relatable.

These two heroes previously met in STF #1834, and first crossed paths back in STF #578,,,

Dick Tracy Vs. Two-Face

Harvey Dent is of course referring here to the events of STF #2497, where Tracy got the jump on a group of Bat-Villains. Let's see how things work out in a one-on-one confrontation, something that I am guessing they would both prefer for their own reasons.

Night Nurse and Dr. Manhattan

This is another one of those covers that required a lot of clean up, extension and de-cluttering of the original image before I could add in any new elements. Here's a look at the behind the scenes process:

Batman and Quicksilver in "A Split-Second Miscalculation!"

Batman's Bat-Planes have had many looks in the movies.  My favorite is still The Batwing from Batman '89, jut an ingenious design.  Affleck's ride wasn't as stylized, but still pretty cool.  The Japan sequence in The Dark Knight is a favorite of mine, but I was a little let down that he just used a normal looking plane there, couldn't it at least have been black?  Still, it was better than whatever they had Christian Bale flying around in for The Dark Knight Rises - I thought that was kind of ugly and resembled an unfolded cardboard box.  Let's hope Robert Pattinson has better design sense when he decides to take to the sky.

Batman and Quicksilver first crossed paths on one of my earliest covers, an MS Paint effort from 2010...

Krypto & Ace Vs. Kraven the Hunter

Even tough it's aimed at younger viewers, I am looking forward to DC League of Super-Pets.  I'm a sucker for comics, superheroes and animals, so there's a lot there to appeal to me.  I even have a cat named Ace!

I am always happy to use the artwork of Curt Swan on this blog.  I was lucky enough to get an original page by him (and Inker Bob Oskner) many years back - I liked this piece because it shows so many of Superman's powers in action:

Catwoman Vs. The Blonde Phantom

If you think fighting crime in a long dress and high heels is a challenge, you should see how hard it is to train cats to attack your opponents on command.  This is the world of comics though, it doesn't matter how outlandish the concept may be as long as the depiction of it looks cool on the printed page!  At least that was the attitude back in the golden age, which is one reason those stories can be so fun.

Medusa and Mera

I haven't made it out to see Aquaman yet, but I hear that it is a ton of over the top fun and visually spectacular. I'll try to get out to a theater next week because I'm thinking this is a movie that should be seen on a nice big screen.  I wonder if we will see Mera rise in prominence in the comics now that she is a bona fide movie star?

Batman and Tigra in: "Building a Better Bank Heist!"

There have been a bunch of female half-human half-cat characters in comics and fiction, but I think Tigra has the best design of them all.  Maybe it's because her fur is in the pattern of an Orange Tabby. I have always loved that breed of cat since we had some when I was a kid.

These two shared an animated adventure back in my Brave and The Bold: The Lost Issues Days...

Coming up tomorrow:  STF #2400!

Dick Tracy and Batman in: "A Cop in the Cave!"

I recently completed re-watching the Beware The Batman animated series, and I quite enjoyed it again.  The CGI was very good on the characters, although skimpy background details often make it look like Gotham was a big abandoned city.  I liked the use of some of Batman 's lesser known rogues, giving characters like Anarky and Magpie a chance to shine.  I really wish the series had continued because the seeds for Harvey Den't transformation into Two-Face and a full fledged Batman and the Outsiders team were planted, and I would have loved to have seen those plot lines followed through.

The Cat Vs. Cheetah

New rumors are stating that the Wonder Woman sequel will be a Cold War adventure, set in the 1980's.  This is an interesting way to go.  I do hope that it doesn't rule out the possibility of her most iconic foe, Cheetah, showing up in a major way.  I'd love to finally see Barbara Minerva as a live action antagonist.

Dick Tracy and Spider-Man

These two were the stars of my two favorite action comic strips growing up, and I would have loved to have seen some kind of crossover event between them.  When I look over those old strips, I am always impressed at how much information that Chester Gould, Stan Lee and Larry Lieber were able to include in 3-4 panels a day.  It takes a real skill to work in that medium and Dick Tracy and The Amazing Spider-Man were among the best examples of the form ever.
