Daughters of the Dragon and Man-Bat

 

We know that Luke Cage and Danny Rand will be returning in Daredevil: Born Again season 3 - but what about the Daughters of the Dragon?  When we last saw them, Misty had just received her bionic arm and Colleen had the power of the Iron Fist - I want to see what happens next with both of them!

Howard the Duck Vs. Godzilla

 

I've read rumors that the follow up film to Godzilla Vs. Kong will be titled Godzilla and Kong.  That indicates that the two titans will be teaming up against a larger threat.  We've already seen King Ghidora and Mecha-Godzilla, so I am not quite sure who it could be, though.  I wonder what The Cloverfield Monster is up to these days?

Harley Quinn and Ghost Rider

 

The Joker: Folie a Deux has been announced as an upcoming sequel to the Joaquin Phoenix film starring the Clown Prince of Crime.  The title refers to two people suffering from mental conditions, and rumors of Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn have made the rounds.  That part has been denied - but not necessarily that Harley won't be in the movie, just that Gaga would not be in the role.  I have my reservations about whether such a perfect first film even needs a sequel, but that one was much better than I had expected it to be, so I will withhold judgment until I learn more or see some footage.

Storm and Batgirl in: "An Ancient War!"

 

The Batgirl movie has completed filming, but who knows when we will see it.  It was supposed to come out late this year but I don't know if that is still the case.  Michael Keaton is supposed to appear as Batman in it - but his return in The Flash which comes before this movie has been delayed at least a year due to a publicity nightmare with the increasingly erratic Ezra Miller.  Will The Flash being pushed back so far create a domino effect for the rest of the DCEU movies? Hopefully we will get some clarification soon.

Quasar and Firestorm

 

Who would have thought that the character on this cover most likely to show up in a big budget movie first would be Fin Fang Foom?  At least he has been heavily rumored to be showing up in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.  Hopefully we will see a teaser or trailer before too long and see if there is any confirmation of Foom's involvement.

Oberon and Puck

 

This cover is a tribute to my bygone acting days.  One of my big roles in school was Bottom from A Midsummer Night's Dream.  Since my character transformed into a donkey in that play, I heard plenty of variations on "Ross is an ass" during that production, believe me!  While my desire to perform is long behind me, I still look back fondly on those times.

Aquaman and Fin Fang Foom

There's a lot of speculation as to what will happen with the character of Mera in the Aquaman sequel, given actress Amber Heard's legal troubles.  Some suggest the best move would be to write Aquaman's bride to be out of the script and replace her with Dolphin.  While I wouldn't mind seeing Dolphin, I feel that Mera is too important a character to lose, so I would opt for recasting.  I have heard Emilia Clarke suggested, but I think I have an idea that would work better - Deborah Ann Woll!  She's mentioned it's tough finding work after Daredevil's cancellation, and shares some facial similarity with Heard.  I think it could work.

Dr. Doom Vs. Harley Quinn

It looks like Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey is the latest film to get an early streaming release in these movie theater-free days.  I guess I will have to check it out despite the less than stellar reviews I read for it, and hope it surpasses lowered expectations.  I had heard much more enthusiastic reviews for the Harley Quinn animated show, but I watched the first episode of that and the cursing and over the top violence was a turn off.  Harley Quinn isn't Deadpool, and the same kind of humor isn't always interchangeable with them, in my opinion.

Green Arrow and The Wasp & Yellowjacket

There has been a lot of speculation about what the next cinematic team of Avengers will look like.  If it was up to me, I'd give the team a rest and instead have Hulk and Valkyrie join Doctor Strange in introducing Namor and The Silver Surfer for a proper Marvel Defenders team.  But more Avengers movies are an inevitability, so when they return there's only one character that I feel needs to be on the team - The Wasp!  She really should have been introduced in the first Avengers film, as she was a founding member in the comics not to mention the leader of the team for a good long stretch.  I know it's Hope Pym in the movies and not Janet Van Dyne currently operating as The Wasp, but I still want her to be a part of whatever new line up Marvel Studios comes up with.

Gamora and Katma Tui

This cover features two characters whose deaths truly shocked me.  Katma Tui was a favorite of mine, so I really hated the way she was unceremoniously slaughtered in the pages of Action Comics Weekly by Star Sapphire.  It hurt all the more that it was illustrated by famed Green Lantern artist Gil Kane.  For some reason, she is one of the rare characters that has never been brought back.  I knew that Avengers: Infinity War would have a body count, but I have to admit, I did not see Gamora's death coming.  It looks like it just may stick, too, since it occurred before the Thanos SNAP at the end of the film.

Ragman and Moon Knight

Moon Knight is one of those Marvel Character that I have been waiting for decades to make the leap to live action.  The superhero with multiple personalities gimmick could make for a very cool story, but I think the costume may be tough to pull off.  All-white with shadows hitting just the right places looks cool n the page but I can imagine it's a tough look to accomplish on screen.  Maybe an animated series would be better?

Jonah Hex Vs. Scarlet Witch

I was intrigued by the quick glimpse of Scarlet Witch and The Vision in the teaser trailer for Avengers: Infinity War.  It looks like they will continue to develop their romantic relationship.  They were one of my favorite comic couples so that should be interesting to see - even if the trailer also hinted at bad things in store for the synthezoid.

Doctor Fate and Scarlet Witch

I've seen from previews that Doctor Fate is showing up in the latest Blue Beetle series.  This appears to be a more classic version of the character, as opposed to the helmet and hoodie wearing incarnation that starred in the recent New 52 series.  Is it Kent Nelson back in the role or yet another new host?  Will he have a role in returning the original JSA to modern day adventures?  I'm certainly intrigued.

Aquaman and The Sub-Mariner in: "The Battle Above!" Part 1

For the longest time I figured that we would see a Sub-Mariner movie before an Aquaman one.  I'm glad that Arthur Curry beat Namor to the punch though, and I can't wait to see how the undersea realm of Atlantis is realized.

Aquaman and Namor have crossed paths on the blog before - they faced the sea's wrath back in Issue #751 and starred in my very first STF two-parter in Issue #3 and Issue #4.

Batwoman and Spider-Woman

Spider-Woman is the latest heroine to have a makeover and while her classic outfit is a favorite of mine, I can understand the change.  It's amazing that she went so long with her original look, really.  The new costume seems to be designed to be more movie friendly, and looks influenced by Batgirl's recent redesign as well.  I think they did a decent job with the new look, we'll see if it sticks.

Wonder Woman and Elektra

As soon as news of the Netflix Daredevil series was released, there has been much speculation as to who would be playing Elektra.  Some assumed it would be Rosario Dawson, but her role has been revealed as Night Nurse.  With production well underway, and no new announcements, I wonder if Elektra will even be a part of the show.  It is understandable that the show runners do not want to follow the same path as the movie, and maybe they are going to concentrate more on Karen Page as a romantic interest.  Oh, well - they have to same some stuff for season 2!

Booster Gold & Blue Beetle battle The Sentinels

Fans of the Pre-New 52 DC Universe should be happy to hear that at least a couple of heroes from that reality are returning to comics.  Keith Giffen has announced that Booster Gold and Blue Beetle will be joining the cast of Justice League 3000 through some sort of time travel shenanigans.  Giffen was responsible for many of the Blue & Gold team's classic moments, so I think this is a very interesting development.  Could it pave the way for some more of DC's lost characters to return?

The Punisher and Deathstroke

Deathstroke has successfully transitioned from a Teen Titans foe to a line-wide villain. It has been cool to see him mix it up with different heroes over the years.  I have been enjoying Manu Bennett's portrayal of Slade Wilson on Arrow.  He really depicts the menacing and single minded nature of the character well.

The Huntress and Spider-Woman

Spider-Woman has one of the coolest costumes in comics, and it is no surprise that it has stood the test of time.  I'd love to see it in live action, but I wonder who has the rights?  She has a lot of history with S.H.I.E.L.D. and is a well known Avenger, so one of the sequels to that franchise would be the perfect place to feature her.  Then again, her rights may be considered to be part of the Spider-Man universe, and she may have to appear in a Spidey-related film.  Hopefully whoever has the license to use Jessica Drew on the big screen will find a cool way to showcase her one of these days.

Wolverine Vs. Snake Eyes

I saw a recent unused scene that was featured as an extra on the Blu-Ray release of The Wolverine.  It showed Logan being given a box to open up, and inside is the classic Wolverine costume from the comics.  Now, I am not sure how that would look with someone wearing it, but it definitely looks cool right there.  Sadly, it seems that this was just included as a nod to the fans, and we shouldn't expect to see Logan suiting up any time soon.  I'd love to see them try to give it a shot, though.
