Justice League of America Vs. Ego The Living Planet

 

It looks as though most of what we saw on the Peacemaker HBO Max series will remain canon for the new DCU - with one noticeable exception.  The Justice League does not exist yet, so the scene where they show up at the end of the series has no longer officially happened.  Will it be addressed in some way during the second season, or simply ignored?  It will be interesting to see how it is (or isn't) handled.

Hawkwoman Vs. Ego: The Living Planet

 

It sounds like we will be getting the Kendra Saunders version of Hawkgirl in Superman: Legacy, played by Isabela Merced.  Still, I hope there will be some reference to Shayera Thal.  Will the reincarnation aspects of her story be told here, or is that something we will have to wait for future appearances to see?  Only time will tell.

The Herculoids meet The Silver Surfer

 

Here's another crossover that I thought should have happened when I was a kid because the Silver Surfer appeared on some Fantastic Four episodes as part of Hanna-Barbera's World of Super Adventure.  Since The Herculoids were also a part of that anthology cartoon show, I saw no reasons why Galactus most famous herald wouldn't visit Amzot.

Ego Vs. Mogo

This was a match up that I teased way back in STF #33, and I have always meant to get back to. We've seen Ego make his film debut in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2,  now it's time to have some Mogo love on the big screen.  Let's hope he can get at least a cameo when The Green Lantern Corps finally gets to the movies.  I loved his animated appearance when Mogo Doesn't Socialize was adapted.

Superman and Ego: The Living Planet

The stories from Superman's Silver Age could sometimes be a bit hokey, but they were filled with such creativity and high concept ideas I couldn't help but get a kick out of them.  I get that writers want to modernize Superman and give him a more serious edge these days, but I hope they don't completely get rid of the whimsy or "anything can happen" attitude of some of his earlier adventures.  Writers like Grant Morrison and Alan Moore have done a good job showcasing both sides of the character, and I think that's one reason why their interpretations have been so popular.

Green Lantern and Iron Man

I think these two characters go well together, and the pairing became even more appealing to me when I realized I could use Gil Kane images for both of them.  I was also glad to fit in cameos by Mogo and Ego... sentient planets are just too cool, and I've always enjoyed stories featuring either of them.  If the Green Lantern movie actually gets a sequel (c'mon, Clash of the Titans got one!), I'd love to see Mogo get an onscreen appearance.  I definitely got a kick out of the animated Mogo Doesn't Socialize segment from the recent Green Lantern: Emerald Knights DVD.
