Green Goblin Vs. The Suicide Squad

 

Norman Osborne eventually tried using villains to form his own Dark Avengers team, so it's not much of a stretch to think that he might have tried that stunt with the members of the Suicide Squad first. It would be a cool tale to see play out.

Upon completing this entry, I made one new rule for myself going forward: No more barbed wire and chain link fences!  Man, this was a tough one to do.  Separating the fencing from the background was very painstaking and took much longer than I had expected.  Then I realized it wasn't working to just stick the Squad members behind that layer, and I wound up having to digitally separate them and add back in to make sure nobody was too obscured by any foreground elements or each other.  This turned out to be a pretty challenging cover, but I am happy with the final results.

Venom joins Suicide Squad

 

Now we are hearing rumors of Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom joining in on the action of the in-development third Marvel/Sony Spider-Man movie.  With Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Jamie Foxx and Electro and possible even Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire as interdimensional Spideys, this film looks to be jam-packed.  The current theory is that Wanda/Vision on Disney+, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and the third Spider-Man film will combine to make a Marvel multiverse epic story line.

Spider-Man and The Suicide Squad

I am interested to see what James Gunn has in store for The Suicide Squad.  The large cast consisting of lots of C and D-list DC villains indicates to me that there's going to be a high mortality rate, yet comments from the actors point to a more comedic take than the David Ayer film. Set photos also show that Gunn will not be shying away from giving colorful costumes to the characters.  I just hope that Amanda Waller is given better material this time around.

Suicide Squad and Giant-Man

My favorite era of Suicide Squad is the John Ostrander-penned issues from their 90's series.  I hope that any cinematic sequel will draw from those stories.  I'd love to see characters like Bronze Tiger, Vixen and Nightshade join and the I think that Father Kraemer would be a great addition to the cast.  My guess is that the produceers will prefer to make it Harley-centric again, though.

The Avengers and Suicide Squad

Avengers: Infinity War is sounding like it will be the most epic in scope of all of the Marvel movies thus far.  That's only fitting since it is considered to be the culmination of everything that has come before - and just about every hero introduced up until now is slated to appear.  That's going to be the biggest test - will the Russo Brothers be able to juggle dozens of character and give everyone a chance to shine, all while telling a coherent story?  It's going to be fun to find out, but I have faith in them after their excellent work on the Captain America sequels.

The Black Panther and The Bronze Tiger

I thought that the Bronze Tiger was cool as a foil for Batman, but I really grew to appreciate him as a member of the Suicide Squad. It's been cool to see Michael Jai White bring him to life on Arrow and hopefully that will lead to more exposure for the character in the comics.

Amanda Waller and The Hulk

DC's New 52 reboot made a lot of changes to their long standing characters. One of the more puzzling decisions to me was to transform Amanda Waller into a hard-bodied action hero with supermodel good looks.  Was anyone complaining that Waller didn't fit the standard comic heroine mold?  I thought her appearance, along with her personalitry and position of power in the DCU were what made her a unique and interesting character.  That version worked well on Justice League Unlimited, after all.  I think that changing her physique just makes her a little more generic.

Batman and The Suicide Squad

Here is another very early request. I never read much of the first incarnation of the Suicide Squad, but I was a big fan of John Ostrander's series in the 80's which featured a group of DCU super-villains blackmailed into performing covert operations for the government. It's a great concept that allows the writer to explore the shades of grey in his characters personalities. Great comics like Thunderbolts and Incognito have taken the idea and explored as well, but Ostrander latched on to it first. The Suicide Squad is currently showing up in the current season of Smallville - Rick Flag, Amanda Waller, Plastique and Deadshot have already made appearances.
