Ambush Bug and Quicksilver

Quicksilver can get impatient with most heroes, so I can only imagine how frustrating an adventure with Ambush Bug would be for him!   I'm guessing quite a bit, but it would be fun to read about.

Nova and Stargirl

He's back and badder than ever!  That's right - Earth STF's greatest menace, Mr. Universe, returns for his 11th appearance to vex a couple of young heroes.  Let's hope that they have better luck than the rest in putting this guy away for good!

Sleepwalker Vs. Batman's Villains

The villains in Batman's rogues gallery have made for some true nightmare scenarios and visually stunning dream sequences.  It might be fun to put a hero in there that could face off with them in the dreamworld.

Black Cat and The Justice League of America

I'd say by breaking in there undetected, she has already proven it.  Will the JLA treat The Black Cat with suspicion, or will they allow her to lead them to the true threat?  The answers are only 60 cents away!

Blue Beetle and The Punisher

Here's another unlikely pairing.  I can't really seen these two working together unless presented with a scenario like the one above.  It might be interesting to see how their different attitudes and crimefighting styles clash when they find themselves battling side by side.

Red Star and Black Widow

One real shame about Natasha Romanov being killed off in the MCU is that it creates a big missed opportunity.  Now that Daredevil is in the MCU proper, I would have loved to see him share some adventures (and possibly romance) with The Black Widow.   I guess there are a couple of opportunities to do this.  The upcoming 18 episode Daredevil series on Disney+ will have plenty of room for flashbacks, so maybe she could be included there.  Failing that, they could bump into each other in one of the upcoming time and reality warping Avengers movies.  I think all of these scenarios are probably long shots, however.

Sunspot and Fire in "The Wraith of the Rainforest!"

I though it was time for the return of one of STF's pairs of super-siblings.  This is the fourth appearance of this particular brother-sister team. They faced a T-Rex in STF #3287, they returned to Brazil in STF #2673 and they first appeared together in STF #2484...

Mister Terrific and Ant-Man

I always think that it must me a challenge for writers to depict genius-level characters.  As smart as they may be, they have to convincingly give dialogue, ideas and motivations to someone that supposedly has much more knowledge.  The best writers will do more than throwing in random large words and mentioning lofty accomplishments. I guess it helps to have surrounded yourself with intelligent people in real life.

Ant-Man and Cyborg

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is getting underway, so I hope we get some more information regarding it soon.  Perhaps we will see if the title characters have updated costumes, or if Hank and Jan will be suiting up either in present day or a flashback.  Can we expect to get a glimpse of how Kang will look?  Dare I hope for confirmation that events in the film will lead to the introduction of the Fantastic Four to the MCU, as has been rumored for a while now?

Batman and Sleepwalker

Sleepwalker was one of those heroes that emerged in the early 90's, during the huge comics speculation boom that resulted in tons of new titles, characters and even entire comics companies appearing regularly.  There was just no way to try everything out and his title was one that I never got around to checking out.  Are there any fans of the series here?  Did it make an impact on you?

Impulse Vs. Gorgon

Bart Allen was a fun addition to the Flash Family.  It was amusing seeing the hyperactive speedster interact with his older mentors and the other teen heroes from Young Justice.  Since then he's been aged and de-aged, changed his hero ID to Flash to Kid Flash and back to Impulse (I think).  I'm not sure, I lost track of him around the time the second Wally West as Kid Flash showed up and took his place on the Teen Titans.  I think Brian Michael Bendis may have brought Bart back in a new Young Justice title.  Sheesh, the Flash Family history is as confusing as Hawkman's at this point!

Sleepwalker and Sandman in: "Escaping the Dreamscape!"

Wesley Dodds was included among the classic JSAers depicted in the first episode of Stargirl.  I'm not sure how much time will be spent on flashbacks to the past in that show, but it would be nice to showcase him in action at some point.  He has one f the coolest looks of all the Society members and it would be great to see him battling injustice in his prime.

Sleepwalker first met Sandman in STF #1779, and he encountered Sandman of The Endless in STF #1211...

Sandman Vs. The Shadow Thief

The Shadow Thief fascinated me as a kid and remains one of my all-time favorite villains.  He's just so unique - his creepy appearance set him apart as well as his power set.  he even has one of the coolest names around.  I first encountered him in the pages of Justice League of America as part of the Injustice Gang and I always wished he would make more appearances, but he's pretty much been confined to Hawkman stories since then.

Doctor Who goes Back to the Future

I recently showed Back to the Future to my parents, who somehow had never seen it.  Even though I have watched it many times, it still holds up really well for me.  It is really a perfectly written script, there are no wasted scenes, even small throwaway lines and visuals early on in the film pay off by the ending.  The cast is a ton of fun to watch, clearly having a blast in their roles.  Even the Huey Louis soundtrack still gets my foot tapping.  Maybe some of the old age makeup could be better done today, but other than that there's not much that can be improved upon.

Nova and The Ray

The Ray was out of the spotlight for a while but I am glad to see that DC has given him a bit of a push in the past few years.  He's had his own animated show on the CW Seed, has appeared in live action on DC's Legends of Tomorrow (although I wish he had stuck around), and in the comics he is currently a member of the Justice League of America.  I've liked him since his introduction and it's good to see him getting around.

The Silent Partners in: "Monster in the Mix!"

I thought it was time to increase the ranks of the stealthiest team in the STF Universe - and without much discussion, Man-Thing has joined in! I mentioned in the comments to their last appearance that they would be adding a member next time out - did any of you guess correctly?

This is the third adventure of The Silent Partners - they last appeared in STF #1650, and made their debut in STF #764...

Power Man Vs. Lobo

I am really looking forward to Netflix' Luke Cage.  Mike Colter was a new name to me but he won me over with his performance in Jessica Jones, and now he will be joined by a strong supporting cast. Alfre Woodard is always great and for me a big part of why Star Trek: First Contact is one of the most re-watchable of the series.  I have liked Frank Whaley since Pulp Fiction and I was impressed with the performances of Mahershala Ali on House of Cards and Theo Rossi on Sons of Anarchy.  I can't wait for the series to drop so I can start binge watching.

Booster Gold and Dazzler

While doing my interview with the Clobberin' Time podcast the other night, this pairing was suggested.  At first, it seemed like an odd choice, but when you consider that both of these characters embrace the media side of their superhero careers, it actually makes sense and could be a pretty fun story.  Thanks to Matt Fisher for the inspiration!

The Thing and Young Justice

I really hope that The Cartoon Network brings back Young Justice soon.  I was really impressed by the writing and animation on this series, and just when it was getting really interesting, it was yanked off of the schedule.  It really killed the momentum of the show.  They did the same thing with Batman: The Brave and the Bold, I am still waiting for them to air the final batch of episodes there.  I also think that DC is missing a bet by not having the animated series line up more with their upcoming Teen Titans ongoing comic book series.  The comic looks to have a different roster, and the characters that are the same have very different looks and in Robin and Kid Flash's case different secret identities.  Seems to me like a lost opportunity to create some synergy.  At any rate, I truly enjoy the show and hope that it returns to have a nice long run.

The Thing and Army of Darkness

I've never been a huge fan of gory horror films, so I never sought out the Evil Dead films when they were first released. Finally, a friend sat me down and had me watch Evil Dead 2. It was absolutely nothing like I had expected it to be. I thought it was great! I loved the inventiveness of the action and crazy camera shots. It made me a true Sam Raimi fan. Plus, Bruce Campbell as Ash really put 150% into his performance and earned his coolness pedigree right there.

I think Ben Grimm would enjoy battling the undead with Ash. They are both unimpressed and unafraid when faced with creatures that would make most of us head for the hills, and they both like to get off a few choice one-liners as they kick butt.
