The Avengers Vs. The Crime Syndicate in: "Assembled... and Assaulted!"

This is the third meeting between these two teams, and this time around, I figured that I would opt for a Silver Age era match up.  They've previously had a Bronze Age style clash in STF #738, and entered into a Modern Age uneasy alliance in STF #3744...

The Avengers and The Crime Syndicate

The Avengers first crossed The Crime Syndicate's path in STF #738,  and I thought for this reunion it might be interesting to watch the two teams have to work together.  Just how long will their fragile truce last and what crisis would require such a partnership?  The answer is only 60 cents away!

The Crime Syndicate Vs. The Hulk

One of the reasons that I am looking forward to the Disney+ She-Hulk series is that we'll finally get some understanding as to what's happening with Bruce Banner.  In Avengers: Endgame, he was in Professor Hulk mode and seemed to have merged his physical and intellectual sides.  The next time we saw him was in the post credit scene for Shang-Chi, where he was in his Banner form again.  All I ask is that he's back as a rampaging Hulk by the time Ben Grimm is introduced to the MCU - a Thing/Hulk battle must happen!

The Fantastic Four Vs. The Crime Syndicate in: "Crisis at the Baxter Building!"

I'm not sure what to make of plans for a new Fantastic Four movie told from the point of view of Franklin and Valeria Richards.  I can understand the need for a fresh take after the previous cinematic attempts, but is that what fans really want to see?  Rumors of a solo Doctor Doom origin film are equally head scratching.  If they really don't know what to do with the materiel, I wish they would just relinquish control.

It was about time that the FF try and retake the Baxter Building.  The Syndicate took it over back in STF #1851...

Fantastic Four Vs. The Crime Syndicate

Given his interest in alternate realities, this is a match-up that could easily be initiated by Mr. Fantastic. I can see Reed Richards being fascinated by the reverse nature of Earth Three and getting mixed up with this evil JLA doppleganger team.

Crime Syndicate Vs. Squadron Supreme

Lots of heroes face off against dark reflections of themselves, so why not an entire team?  The Justice League of America has inspired more than a couple of  doppelganger groups, and it's been interesting to see writers take them in different directions that the traditional JLA.

The Crime Syndicate Vs. Spider-Man

Long time readers of this blog know that Spider-Man was originally rejected for membership in the JLA, until he was finally invited in last Christmas.  Of course, membership can have it's drawbacks, such as gaining a whole new set of enemies.

The Crime Syndicate is a fun group to read about.  I can tell that writers really enjoy the concept of an evil JLA because their appearances seldom seem to disappoint.

The Avengers Vs. The Crime Syndicate

I featured the JLA against one of the Avengers' villains yesterday, so it's only fair that to reverse that idea today.  I have always liked that the Crime Syndicate were not just evil versions of the Justice League members, they were from a whole parallel universe where everything was flipped on its head.  Writers like Grant Morrison really had fun with the concept of that alternate reality. Based on the most recent line-wide event, it looks like they are right in the center of the current goings on in the DCU these days.
