Tigra and Cat-Man (Part 6 of 7)

In the penultimate chapter of our week-long tale, we see that the master that Tigra was referring to is none other that the villainous Ringmaster!  No wonder these sworn enemies are working together again.  Let's hope they can get out from under his thrall in time for tomorrow's final chapter!

Tigra and Cat-Man (Part 5 of 7)

As we hit Part 5 in our week-long tale, and it looks like Tigra wants to bring the team back together again - but why would she after all that's happened?  And just who is this new master that she mentions?  There's more to this story, so make sure you come back tomorrow for chapter 6!

Tigra and Cat-Man (Part 4 of 7)

As we pass the midway point in our week-ling tale, we see that Cat-Man is seeking revenge against Tigra for busting up his crime wave.  Let's hope Uncle Ted has arrived in time.  it's hard to see any reconciliation happening now - make sure you tune in tomorrow to see where this story goes next!

Regular STF visitors know that Tigra is Wildcat's niece, as outlined in STF #2551.  They first shared a cover on STF #1265...

Tigra and Cat-Man (Part 3 of 7)

For the third chapter of our 7-part epic, we see that Tigra has not taken to kindly to the way she was treated by Cat-Man after giving him a chance to reform.  Not even Gotham's original guardian will stop her from bringing him back to justice!  I can't imagine Cat-Man will take this too well - make sure you check in tomorrow for chapter 4 to see what his reaction is!

Tigra and Cat-Man (Part 2 of 7)

For the second part of our week-long tale, we see that this alliance between a hero and a villain was doomed to fail. At the first sight of adversity, Cat-Man has turned tail and abandoned his partner.  You can bet she won't forget this if they should ever cross paths again - which they will in Part 3, coming tomorrow!

Tigra and Cat-Man (Part 1 of 7)

Presenting the longest continued tale yet for The Lost Issues - This pairing of feline-themed characters will span the years and include some special guest stars along the way.  Here we see the beginning of the Tigra/Cat-Man team - but how successful can such an alliance be?  Tune in tomorrow for chapter two to see where this story goes next!

Iron Fist Vs. Deathstroke

Deathstroke is a character that I prefer to see used as a full-on villain.  There have been some attempts to cast him in an anti-hero role, but that never sits well with me.  I saw him commit too many despicable acts in the pages of New Teen Titans and elsewhere to ever want to have to root for him in  a story.  I'm all for a good redemption arc in comics, but it has to be done with the right character.

Starting tomorrow, STF's longest continued story yet - a 7-Parter!

Nightwing Vs. Electro

It was cool to see Jamie Foxx get another chance to play Electro, especially with the redesign that he was given.  The nerdy, obsessed with Spider-Man version from his original appearance was a little too close to the Jim Carrey Riddler origin from Batman Forever for my taste.  Even better than the attitude change was the updated look that he received.  I loved how the energy crackling around him would form the classic star-shaped helmet when he let loose with his powers - a great way to get that tough to pull off design in there.

Doctor Octopus Vs. The Penguin

When I first heard that there would be a series on HBO Max spinning out of The Batman and featuring Colin Farrel's Penguin, I kind of scratched my head.  The Penguin didn't seem like a character that warranted his own show and didn't we just already watch the villain's rise to power in Gotham?  Then I saw the movie, and was really taken by his performance.  I wanted more, and this series will certainly provide that - now I can't wait for it to come out.

Doctor Who and Dr. Manhattan

If there's one person that's not intimidated by beings in possession of nearly unlimited power, it's Doctor Who.  Dr. Manhattan would probably appreciate meeting someone that could understand his unique perspective on time and space.  Yes, I think that these to would get along famously.

This cover comes from a suggestion by Alex Johnson, a Patron of this Blog - Thanks, Alex!

Guy Gardner and Nova

Every time I see Sean William Scott on a commercial for the new show Welcome to Flatch, I think of what a missed opportunity it is that he has not been cast as Guy Gardner for the in-development Green Lantern Corps series on HBO Max.  I just think he has the perfect look for the role and has proven himself adept at  action and comedy in his previous work.  Finn Wittrock is the one who has actually landed the role, an actor that I am not familiar with.  Let's hope he brings DC comics' favorite lovable jerk to effectively to life.

Indiana Jones Vs. Hela

Cat Blanchett's villainous turn in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was one of the redeeming elements of that movie.  I've mentioned before how her turn as Hela made for one of the best MCU villains thus far.  I can only imagine how much fun it would be to pit Jones against Hela.

This isn't the first time Indy has gone after an Asgardian artifact, as we saw in STF #1833...

Justice Society and The Fantastic Four in: "The Kang/Karkull Contract!"

I am looking forward to the third season of Stargirl.  I hope they continue with the classic JSA flashbacks.  They probably wont include Dr. Fate or Hawkman due to their involvement in the Black Adam movie, but I 'd love to see Jim Corrigan, Alan Scott and Wesley Dodds appear.  Even just showing up in their civilian identities would be cool, but it would be even better to see them suited up and in action.

The FF and The JSA previously shared an adventure in STF #1950...

Superman and Gargoyle

The Discovery/Warner Bros. merger is finally underway and reports are coming out that revitalizing their comic book properties in print and in film it a top priority for the new brass.  Superman was singled out as a character with far too much potential to be squandered the way he has, and that sentiment holds for most of the rest of DC's roster.  It will be interesting what changes we will see in the next few years and if the DCEU can find its own version of Kevin Feige to give it a cohesive vision.

Aqualad and Stingray

Stingray's costume is unapologetically 70's and decidedly different from most underwater heroes, but for some reason it really works for me.  I love the cape/fins design, it seems like it would work well with the currents.  The face concealing mask may be an issue for some, but I've always thought it looked pretty cool.  The right artists really made this outfit sing on the page.

Justice League of America and Blade

DC seems to really like messing with its cast of characters in their out-of-continuity tales.  The Injustice games and comics depict a DCU that's gone down the darkest path, DCeased featured zombified heroes and these days they've been transformed into vampires.  They really need a guy like Blade to step in and sort things out!

Darth Vader Vs. Machine Man

It's funny how your perspective changes when watching a movie that you have seen over and over for years.  When I was a kid viewing Star Wars, I liked the buildup scenes on Tatooine - But like Luke, I couldn't wait for the characters to get off planet and into the rebellion against The Empire.  I just watched the movie again recently, and my thoughts were all about just how does moisture farming work anyway?  I tried to look around to find clues on Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru's property.  Maybe the occupation will be explored further on Obi-Wan Kenobi when it hits Disney+.

Mockingbird and Catwoman

I liked the twist at the end of the Disney+ Hawkeye series (Minor SPOILER follows)...

...that Clint Barton's wife actually worked for S.H.I.E.L.D. as Mockingbird at some point in the past.  Of course, now I want to see Linda Cardinelli as Bobbi Morse in some flashback scenes.  I don't know if Hawkeye is coming back for another season, but hopefully Marvel can find some way to show her in her super-heroic action days.

Marvel Girl and Elongated Man

I'm all for comic book action and angst, but a good story also has to include some mysteries to be solved.  That's why it was so nice to see The Batman featuring so much detective work and also one of the reasons I've always liked Ralph Dibny.  His back-up stories always had him solving crime-related conundrums and were a joy to read.  I highly recommend picking up a copy of Showcase Presents: The Elongated Man if you can still find it in print.

The Avengers and Batman & The Outsiders

Sure, JLA/Avengers was a dream come true and X-Men Vs. The New Teen Titans was great, but I wish Marvel and DC could have found a way for these two teams to meet.  Especially if that meant that we could have had Jim Aparo on art chores depicting Earth's Mightiest Heroes.  I've only seen a couple of Marvel hero sketches by him and I always hoped to see more of his interpretations.

Storm and Batgirl in: "An Ancient War!"

The Batgirl movie has completed filming, but who knows when we will see it.  It was supposed to come out late this year but I don't know if that is still the case.  Michael Keaton is supposed to appear as Batman in it - but his return in The Flash which comes before this movie has been delayed at least a year due to a publicity nightmare with the increasingly erratic Ezra Miller.  Will The Flash being pushed back so far create a domino effect for the rest of the DCEU movies? Hopefully we will get some clarification soon.

Storm and Batgirl first met in STF #3254... and in STF #2932 with the Birds of Prey...

Big Barda and Wolverine

I've always liked the few heroes that came in well under 6 feet - like the original Atom , Puck, and of course (easily the most famous one) Wolverine. In the  movies, he's been played by Hugh Jackman for the past 20 years, frustratingly making him one of the taller onscreen heroes.  Let's hope the new Marvel version, whenever he should appear, is a bit shorter! It will be one clear way to make this new version separate from what has gone before.

The Super Friends and The Super Globetrotters

I'm sure there are a number of reasons why such a show would never make it to air today, but as a kid I got a big kick out of  The Super-Globetrotters.  I loved comics, superheroes and basketball, so this cartoon definitely caught my attention.  I remember enjoying watching the live action Harlem Globetrotters games against the hapless Generals - man, that bucket of confetti gag got me every time!

Metamorpho Vs. The Juggernaut

Kind of an oddball match up this time out, but one that I think could have good story potential.  There aren't many heroes that can with stand an onslaught by Cain Marko, but the Freak of a Thousand Forms might be one of them.  I absolutely love Metamorpho, but other than Simon Stagg, he has never had much of a personal rogues gallery - maybe he's just  too tough to beat.

Kingpin Vs. Lex Luthor (With Daredevil!)

I realized that I had yet to present a meeting between the baddest bald businessmen in comics on this blog, so it is time to rectify that oversight. (Correction! they did meet before - in STF #2556!) I don't see any way that these two would ever get along - whatever truce they strike is certain to be broken by one of them.  One town is certainly not big enough to have them both operating in it at the same time. Who do you think wins this battle?

Nova meets Bulletman & Bulletgirl

It sounds like Marvel may finally be preparing a Nova movie.  The studio has reserved a few release dates for untitled movies a few years down the road and there is a lot of speculation that Nova will be joining the likes of Blade and The Fantastic Four in taking up one of those slots. Let's hope we get some concrete confirmation soon, along with hints as to what direction the movie will go in.

Batman and Shazzan

One of the reasons that the stars of Hanna-Barbera's World of Super-Adventure have a special place for me is from my memories of seeing the cartoon when I was very young.  I would get up early before everyone in my house to watch the show.  It was a brief time to myself, as I was the second youngest of seven kids - usually everything I did at home was in the midst of a crowd, certainly in the TV room.  By the time Bugs Bunny & Friends came on, I'd be joined by my siblings, but the early morning shows were mine to watch in privacy.

The Marvel Family and Eternity

With all of the recent movie delay announcements, it was nice to learn that at least Shazam! Fury of the Gods will actually be coming out a little sooner than previously expected. I've liked the brief glimpses that have been shown of the film so far.  The costumes look to be a big improvement over the first installment and I can't wait to see Helen Mirren in a comic book movie.

Chaselon Vs. The Hulk

The Green Lantern movie was such a disappointment that Warner Bros. seems afraid to ever use Hal Jordan again.  The HBO Max GL Corps show seems to be moving at a glacial pace, announced years ago with only a few casting announcements since.  Warner Bros. is on the brink of being under new management when Discovery fully takes over.  I say, scrap everything and put all of your resources into a Chaselon feature film!  The sentient crystal with robotic limbs and a mohawk is the clear choice to make the DCEU's premier Green Lantern. I mean that's what I would do if I was in charge... which may explain why I'm not.

Ace and The Dogs of War in: "Stark Kraven Mad!"

Ace and the Dogs of War first appeared way back in STF #415.  Ace later joined Krypto in battling Kraven in STF #3505.  It looks like The Hunter is still perturbed by that altercation and is looking to take his revenge out on Ace's whole team.  What better reason to end their 9-year hiatus?
