The Joker and KISS

When I was a kid I loved the band Kiss because they we kind of like superheroes with their whole look and personas.  May favorite was Ace Frehley, the "alien". I even had some Kiss trading cards which had facts about the band members on the backs of them  On Frehley's card, it mentioned that his instrument was "lead guitar"... which I misread as the metal lead.  I figured that being from another planet made him strong enough to lift such a heavy guitar!

Kiss and Dial "H" For Hero

Dial "H" For Hero was a crazy concept but I remember getting quite a kick out of it.  As a kid that loved to create my own superheroes, it was cool to see what others my age had come up with - even cooler to see them in action by professional artists and writers.  Most of the characters were really off the wall, but every once in a while there would be one that I thought was cool enough to be a mainstream star.

KISS and The X-Men

There have been a handful of attempts to combine musical acts with comics - Alice Cooper, The Beatles and Night Cat come to mind... but none of them were really ever anything more than an isolated oddity.  I think the reason that KISS had a little more success with the transition is that they already seemed like comic book characters to begin with.  Their elaborate costumes and personas made for a good fit and suggested story ideas right off the bat. They were able to tap into their existing fan base by utilizing the themes they had all along.

Batman and KISS

This was another request that was well off of the beaten path, but when I remembered the great tabloid cover featuring Batman and his four greatest villains, I figured I would give it a shot. It's a simple cover, but the oddity of the team up makes up for that hopefully.

I remember being entranced by Kiss as a kid - they seemed kind of like superheroes to me with their makeup, outfits, and over the top attitude. I was at the perfect age for all of that stuff to really resonate. It didn't hurt that they had a bunch of catchy hits as well.
