The Avengers and The Omega Men

 

I really thought that the Omega Men were going to be the next big thing when they were introduced.  They were launched out of the red hot New teen Titans, after all.  Despite their roster of cool characters, they never really caught on, though - even in later revival attempts.  Maybe starting out as a direct only title hurt their chances of finding a wider audience?  I know I was still only getting my comics from the newsstand when their series was first published.

Nova and The Omega Men

With the Nova Corps established in Guardians of the Galaxy and Marvel about to expand its cosmic scope again with the upcoming Captain Marvel, I think that the time is right to start thinking about bringing Nova himself to the big screen.  He's got a great look - including that iconic helmet - so hopefully the when and if  he makes the move to live action, filmmakers will allow him to wear it for more than a few moments at a time (I'm looking at you, Thor).

Batman & The Outsiders and Guardians of the Galaxy (And more!)

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 has released its full trailer, and I am glad that they fill it with cool shots and character moments, but do not give the whole plot away.  Even so, I am trying to remain very disciplined - I only watched the trailer once, and on a tiny little screen.  I know for sure that I will be seeing the film in the theater and I don't want to spoil too much for myself the way I have for far too many other movies.  I hear that audience preview scores have been through the roof, so I am expecting another fun night at the movies.

The Omega Men and Omega The Unknown

I remember thinking that The Omega Men were going to be the next big thing.  They were introduced in the pages of the then red-hot New Teen Titans in one of their coolest story arcs after all.  I think the reason that they never really got a chance to catch on is that their series was only available in DC's direct format.  I got my comics off the newsstand, so I never saw an issue for sale.  I still think they are a cool group and I am glad that DC has found a way to bring them back from time to time.
