The Avengers and Infinity Inc. (And More!)

Mr. Universe returns for his 12th appearance as STF's greatest villain, and this time he is super-charged enough that it will take two teams to beat him.  Fortunately, this issue is 100 pages, so there will still be plenty of room left for some fun back-up tales!

My goodness, are we really on the march towards STF #5000?

Here are some larger views of this issue's individual stories:

Mogo and Godzilla

I'm hoping the upcoming Green Lantern Corps series on HBO Max will really explore some of the more unique members of the GLC.  My favorite, Chaselon, tops the list, but I'd also like to see Mogo, Xax, Medphyll and even F-Sharp Bell make appearances.  They are interesting characters in their own right and there's plenty of possibility for fun interaction with the human GL's as well.

This is only Part One of a Three-Part Epic - so make sure you come back tomorrow for the next exciting chapter!

Galactus Vs. Mogo & Ch'p

I've had a few requests for Galactus to face of against Mogo, and I do agree that it would make for an amazing battle.  Galactus undoing of course would not paying attention to a micro problem while he tackles the macro problem - and that's where Ch'p can come in to save the day.

Ego Vs. Mogo

This was a match up that I teased way back in STF #33, and I have always meant to get back to. We've seen Ego make his film debut in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2,  now it's time to have some Mogo love on the big screen.  Let's hope he can get at least a cameo when The Green Lantern Corps finally gets to the movies.  I loved his animated appearance when Mogo Doesn't Socialize was adapted.

Dynamo and Green Lantern

I have always been interested with Dynamo and the rest of the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents.  They seem to attract a lot of talented artists and writers to work on their tales.  Frankly though, I never really know where to start with them.  Their adventures seem to have been started and stopped so many times over the years, I am a little confused as to what the "official" stories are and what is better to just skip over.

Green Lantern and Battlestar Galactica

One aspect that I used to get a kick out of with Hal Jordan was how, despite being a superhero and intergalactic peacekeeper, he always seemed to have a tough time keeping his personal life together.  He was a great test pilot, but upon losing that job, he went through a series of occupations such as toy salesman that never really clicked for him.  He didn't have much luck with the ladies either - finally winning the heart of Carol Ferris only to have her become his arch-enemy.

Green Lantern and Iron Man

I think these two characters go well together, and the pairing became even more appealing to me when I realized I could use Gil Kane images for both of them.  I was also glad to fit in cameos by Mogo and Ego... sentient planets are just too cool, and I've always enjoyed stories featuring either of them.  If the Green Lantern movie actually gets a sequel (c'mon, Clash of the Titans got one!), I'd love to see Mogo get an onscreen appearance.  I definitely got a kick out of the animated Mogo Doesn't Socialize segment from the recent Green Lantern: Emerald Knights DVD.

Batman and The Green Lantern Corps

I have high hopes for the upcoming Green Lantern film. I have always thought it is the perfect property for a film franchise, marrying the superhero and science fiction genres the way it does. I like the cast and director, and it would be great to see them do Hal Jordan justice. Of course, for me it will be even more exciting to see some of Gl's fellow Corps members brought to life on the big screen. Abin Sur, Kilowog, Tomar Re and more are slated to appear and I can't wait to see how they look. A picture of Kilowog was leaked on the net this weeks, and it looks promising.

There's one GLC member that I really hope will appear, but it is probably a long shot since he is so odd looking - Chaselon! I giant sentient diamond, with robotic limbs and a mohawk? That's just awesomeness personified! And just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the creativity of all the writers and artists who have worked on Green Lantern over the years.

Batman and Mogo

Here was a case where a good friend of mine tried to stump me with a request. However, the planet sized Green Lantern member was always a favorite concept for me (ever since the great Alan Moore tale, Mogo Doesn't Socialize), so I was happy to take up the challenge. One thing I am proud of on this cover is that it is one of the few ones where I had to create a logo for the guest star, and I think it came out well.

The Green Lantern Corps is a great concept in that they fully embrace the weirdness of sentient forms in the universe and have members of every shape and size. I am eagerly awaiting the Martin Campbell directed Green Lantern movie not only to see the main character in live action, but the more alien side characters such as Kilowog, Tomar Re, Abin Sur, and so forth. It should be great fun and hopefully turn a lot more people onto this cool property.
