Guy Gardner and Ghost Rider

 

If there's any member of the GLC that would join forces with a demonic hero like Ghost Rider, Guy Gardner might just fit the bill.  I think he'd appreciate his no-nonsense attitude and get a kick out of his freaky look.  It would be fun to see these two rebels tear things up together.

I was really looking forward to seeing a live action portrayal of Guy Gardner, but now that the Lanterns series for HBO Max has been retooled he is no longer a part of it.  The show now promises to focus on Hal Jordan and John Stewart.  Perhaps once the series is up and running, there will be a place for Guy to join in on the fun down the line.

Every time I see Sean William Scott on a commercial for the new show Welcome to Flatch, I think of what a missed opportunity it is that he has not been cast as Guy Gardner for the in-development Green Lantern Corps series on HBO Max.  I just think he has the perfect look for the role and has proven himself adept at  action and comedy in his previous work.  Finn Wittrock is the one who has actually landed the role, an actor that I am not familiar with.  Let's hope he brings DC comics' favorite lovable jerk to effectively to life.

Godzilla Joins The Green Lantern Corps

Presenting the conclusion to our Three-Part Epic! Looks like helping out the GLC is going to be more than a one-time gig for the big guy!

I was thinking the Green Lantern ring tease for John Diggle on the last episode of Arrow might indicate David Ramsay's involvement in the Green Lantern Corps HBO Max series.  Then, they made a point of him saying that he was relocating to Metropolis - so now it seems he'll be a part of the upcoming Superman and Lois CW show.  Hopefully he'll be on one of the two, I like the actor in the role.

Hawkeye and Guy Gardner

I used to like how Hawkeye used to butt heads with Captain America and some of the other Avengers back in the day because he felt like he should be the one in charge.  It gave the team an interesting dynamic.  Guy Gardner would act similarly with The Guardians of the Universe and his fellow Green Lantern Corps members.  It might be fun to see these two hotheads join forces.

I really hope that DC can get the Green Lantern Corps movie up and running.  Like Guardians of the Galaxy for Marvel, it could be a great way to open up the DC Universe.  A movie about space cops with members from thousands of races is can't help but do so.  They could get caught up in the Rann-Thanagar War, deal with a threat from Mongul's Warworld, or investigate what happened to Mars' once thriving civilization... the possibilities are endless.

Yellowjacket and Guy Gardner

I really hope that we will see a bit more of Hank Pym in his prime and in action with the original Wasp when Ant-Man and The Wasp hits the theaters.  I loved the brief glimpse we got the first time around and I hope we get more.  I've hear rumors that the plot will feature attempts to save Janet Van Dyne from the Microverse (with Sharon Stone in the role?), and that would be great to see.

The Avengers and Guy Gardner

With Loki and Ultron out of the way and Thanos on deck, I have been wondering which Avengers adversaries would I would like to see in future movies.  My first choice was Kang, but apparently his rights are tied up with the Fantastic Four characters, so we shouldn't expect to see him onscreen alongside Earth's Mightiest heroes any time soon.  The Masters of Evil would be great to see - they starred in one of my all-time favorite Avengers epics and would be a nice change of pace from the alien invasion / world domination plots that we have seen thus far.

I remember thinking it was odd that DC Guy Gardner was featured in Crisis on Infinite Earths rather than Hal Jordan (famously the only DC hero not to appear in the classic maxi-series).  I liked him in the early days of Justice League, but felt that he turned onto a one-dimensional jerk of a character after a while.  Fortunately, later stories would flesh out his personality, and Guy definitely grew on me. I always liked his uniform as well, he is one of the sharper looking Green Lanterns.

Justice League Vs. The Phoenix

I really loved the line up for the new Justice League title that spun out of Legends.  It really took advantage of the newly merged universe from Crisis on Infinite Earths by featuring a team made up of heroes from the formerly separated worlds.  You had Batman, Black Canary and Martian Manhunter from the original JLA, and then added Dr. Fate (Earth-2), Captain Marvel (Earth-S), Blue Beetle (Charlton), Mister Miracle (Fourth World) and Dr. Light (a brand new character from Crisis).  It was a cool grouping and I really wish they had enjoyed more adventures together before the team started swapping out members and became more about situation comedy than super heroics.

Here's another character that would fit right in with The Thing's poker nights. I got a kick out of Guy when he was first brought back and became one of the headliners of the revamped Justice League comic. I loved his personality which set him apart from so many other heroes. For a while though, writers began to focus on his more boorish aspects and he started to become a little too unlikeable. On top of that, his changing status quo (losing the ring, becoming half-alien, wearing garish armor, etc.) made it tough to stay invested in him as a character. Fortunately Geoff Johns and others did a nice job of bringing him back to the Guy we all liked - a brash yet heroic Green Lantern. I think he has one of the best GL costume designs as well.

This cover took a lot of futzing with because there was a lot of clutter on the original MTIO cover that I had to clean up. It's what you don't see in the final product that seems to take the longest with these things! I am happy with the results though, Guy's pose worked out better than I had hoped.
