Captain Universe and Plastic Man
I wonder just who is wielding the Uni-Power this time out? That certainly doesn't look like Woozy Wink's physique, so I think we can rule him out.

Captain Universe and Superman
Don't get me wrong, I was all for Lana Lang getting a set of super powers so that she could help out Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes - but those Insect Queen abilities where she would transform sections of her body into giant insect parts were kind of gross. Maybe something more along the lines of what we see here would have been more palatable.

Captain Universe and Archie
An energy from space that gives ordinary people amazing powers? Sure, I can roll with that. The two hottest girls in high school fighting over an awkward redhead? Now you are really stretching credibility (if my personal experience is anything to go on). Still, in the world of comics, the impossible happens on a daily basis. No wonder they provided an escape from the real world for so many of us as kids.

Captain Universe Vs. Firestorm
I wondered what the writers and editors were thinking when Firestorm switched to his "elemental form" towards the end of his second DC series. It was such a departure from what had gone before, from his appearance to his attitude, it seemed like a completely different hero and comic. Even the art switch to Tom Mandrake was very jarring and a turnoff to me (although I am a Mandrake fan and love his later collaborations with Firestorm writer John Ostrander). I thought that the series had solid sales numbers, so I was curious as to why the decision was made to make such a drastic left turn.

Green Lantern Corps and Captain Universe
I am hoping that we are close to hearing some announcements on the Green Lantern Corps movie. Robert Zemeckis has been rumored as someone that DC would like to direct, which would be pretty cool. They also seem to be aiming high to get an older mentor-type Hal Jordan, I've heard Tom Cruise and Mark Wahlberg mentioned as what they are looking for. Sadly, no news on the most important aspect of any GL film - who will be voicing Chaselon?

Batman is Captain Universe
I understand that Matt Reeves has decided to not use the Ben Affleck/Geoff Johns script for his upcoming batman movie, and go in a new direction. This film has had so many starts and stops, I hope all goes well once it finally gets rolling. I do like that he says that he intends to focus on the detective aspects of the character, something that I feel has been underused in Batman's cinematic outings thus far. Reeves is getting strong reviews for War for the Planet of the Apes, so that's a good sign as well.

Captain Universe and Starman
I love that DC has been able to reinvent the Starman name and concept multiple times. Each one has been an entertaining character in their own right, Ted Knight of course started it all and is one of comic's first cosmic heroes. Jack Knight may have been his son, but their personalities were quite different and his series was a bright spot during the '90's comics scene. I loved how Jim Starlin illustrated the Prince Gavyn version and always wanted to see more of him. Will Payton even won me over, sort of like a Marvel version of Starman. James Robinson finally found a way to connect all of these Starmen (and more) together in that '90s Starman series and it was a fantastic read.
What is... The Secret Origin of The Lost Issues? The answer is only one of the special features included as part of The STF 1000th Issue Spectacular, coming up in just four days!

Adam Strange and Captain Universe
Captain Universe is a great concept - super powers that get regularly passed from one person to another. This is another C-list Marvel hero that I could see making a successful transition to movies or television. They would not even have to lock in a major star for an extended contract, due to the nature of the property. There could even be multiple Captain Universes in one movie. Now that Marvel's film division is digging a bit deeper into their catalog of characters, I hope that they will consider this hero for live action.
