Red Wolf and The Lone Ranger

APRIL FOOLS!

Here's the real STF issue #2544. Have any of Marvel's western stars made the leap to animation?  I can't remember that Red Wolf, Phantom Rider, or Kids Colt, Two-Gun and Rawhide ever made so much as a cameo on any of the various Marvel cartoons.  That should be remedied, there's plenty of potential there.

The Lone Ranger Vs. Werewolf by Night!

Like Tarzan, The Lone Ranger is a classic property that the movies just can't seem to get right.  I keep waiting for a great adaptation of the material, but Hollywood keeps wanting to go tongue-in-cheek with the western hero. The most recent attempt was a complete misfire to me.  Johnny Depp as Tonto?  What were they thinking?

Zorro and The Lone Ranger (Part Two)

I don't think that the influence these two characters had on superheroes and comic books in general can be underestimated.  Heroic characters have been around since the dawn of literature, but here were a couple that played up a dual identity angle complete with a masked alias.  That added an extra element of mystery and tension to their exploits that was integrated into the heroes of the Golden and Silver Age of comics.

Zorro and The Lone Ranger (Part One)

I am surprised that I have never seen a real crossover between these two heroes.  Maybe there is one out there that I am not aware of.  They seem like a natural match, and I think that the time periods would work out.  Anyway, it would be cool to see them share and adventure - stay tuned for part two tomorrow!

Jonah Hex and The Lone Ranger

I love a good western and these guys are two of my favorite heroes from the genre.  It's too bad that both of them have had recent films that failed to do them justice, but I don't think that will hold them back.  Both are too iconic and plain tough to be set back by a misstep on the silver screen.

Scalphunter and The Lone Ranger

I was glad to hear that there was going to be a new Lone Ranger film coming out because I have fond memories of watching the TV show reruns when I was a kid, and the last film adaptation did not do the character justice, in my opinion.  I've seen the trailer for the new movie and I'm not quite sure what to make of it.  The casting of Johnny Depp as Tonto just isn't working for me and the over the top action and silly humor seemed out of place as well.  It might end up being a fun cowboy film, but I think I'll still be waiting for that perfect Lone Ranger movie.

Batman and The Lone Ranger

I used to get a kick out of the Lone Ranger with Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels as a kid.  When we would play cowboys, our imaginary villains would be Butch Cavendish and the Cavendish Gang, the Ranger's longtime enemies.  I was excited when I heard there was going to be a big screen Lone Ranger film, and disappointed that it turned out to be that infamous Clinton Spilsbury fiasco.  Now there is a new Lone Ranger film in Development, and I am surprised that it took so many years for Hollywood to give the property another try.  I hope it will finally do the characters justice, but I'm still unsure about Johnny Depp as Tonto.  I'll withhold my judgment until I see a trailer.
