Lieutenant Sulu and Karate Kid

Like many fans, my favorite Star Trek movie is Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, but I will always have a soft spot for IV: The Voyage Home.  One reason it stood out for me was obviously the humor, but I also really enjoyed that the whole cast was given a lot to do, rather than Kirk, Spock and Bones having all the fun.  It was nice to see Sulu, Uhura, Scotty and Chekov going off on missions of their own.

Doom Patrol and Iron Man

I remember reading the Machine Man mini-series in 1984 and thinking that Arno Stark, the Iron Man of 2020, was pretty cool.  2020 seemed pretty far off to me then, so he truly felt like a futuristic version.  Well the year has arrived, and Marvel is appropriately featuring the character in their current comics.  Oddly enough, I am also living in 2020, and I hardly feel futuristic - more like an antique!  Nothing like going over past comics to make you feel your age!

Powerpuff Girls and Power Girl

Power Girl is one of those characters that I am really surprised has not made the transition to live action yet.  I figured we might see her by now in the CW Supergirl series.  Is it simply because her outfit is considered too revealing in this PC age we live in?  That seems like a simple problem to solve, if that is indeed the case.

Wildcat and Black Cat

I originally thought to pair these two together because of the obvious cat-theme connection, but then I realized they shared another aspect in common with one another.  Both of them were quite famous in the public eye before they ever decided to become masked crime fighters.  I can see them getting along well because of that, and there's potential for a fun story to be told.

Black Lightning and The West Coast Avengers

I wouldn't mind seeing some version of the West Coast Avengers in the MCU.  It would be a nice place to introduce characters like Tigra, Wonder Man and Mockingbird who maybe aren't high profile enough to have their own show or movie.  Maybe the Hawkeye series coming on Disney+ could plant the seeds for the group (while Clint is not training Kate Bishop, of course).

Space Cabbie and The Silver Surfer

Rumors are that Marvel is busy casting the role of Norrin Radd for an upcoming solo Silver Surfer movie.  I have been thinking for a while that this is the role they wanted Keanu Reeves for, but it sounds like they are going in another direction (maybe Reeves felt the part was to similar to what he played in The Day The Earth Stood Still).  That latest actor I am hearing for consideration is Rami Malek.  I think that could work, we'll see if they make an announcement soon.

Sgt. Fury and The Spectre

Before he became a huge name because of his Lord of the Rings movies, I was a Peter Jackson fan because  of his film The Frighteners.  I remember seeing the effects used for the main evil spirit and thinking that it looked a lot like The Spectre - and that's on a movie almost 25 years old.  I am sure Hollywood could do an amazing job with the character today.  Heck, get Jackson to direct it!

Black Canary and Misty Knight

I really enjoyed Simone Missick in the role of Misty Knight on Netflix' Luke Cage series.  It's too bad that we really only got one scene of her and Colleen Wing in action together.  I was looking forward to the creation of Knightwing Investigations, but that's just one more plot thread from the Netflix Marvel shows that was never fulfilled.  Hopefully down the line we'll see the characters again in the MCU (if not the actors and actresses).

Swamp Thing and The Fantastic Four

Presenting the conclusion to our three-part epic!  Let's hope the FF can reverse whatever treatment the Mole Man had administered!

Word is that JJ Abrams is working on bringing  members of Justice League Dark to the big screen.  Swamp Thing has seen solo action in two movies, a tv series, a cartoon show, and most recently an abruptly cancelled streaming show.  I'm betting that DC does not want to go to that well one more time for now, and we will see him in a team setting next.

Swamp Thing and The Invisible Girl

Presenting Part Two of our Three-Part Epic.  As many of you may have suspected, the Mole Man's offer was not as benevolent as it may have seemed.  Good thing Sue Storm was keeping an invisible eye out for any shenanigans! Be sure to come back tomorrow for the thrilling conclusion!

Swamp Thing and The Mole Man

Rumor is that, like in the comics, The Mole Man will be the main antagonist of the MCU Fantastic Four film.  I figured they would go with Annihilus, but this could be very cool as well.  I  have confidence that Marvel could present him and his underground kingdom in an impressive way.

This is only the first part of a Three-Part-Epic - so make sure you come back tomorrow for the next exciting chapter!

Batman and Darkman

This is a team up that I have been meaning to get to since I began the Blog as The Brave And The Bold: The Lost Issues, almost a decade ago.  I remember watching Darkman in the theater when it first came out, thinking, "This is just like a comic book!"  Others must have felt that way as well, because sure enough, Director Sam Raimi went on to direct the first three Spider-Man movies.  Now, it looks like he will be back in Marvel movies, directing Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.  Raimi's experience with directing horror will come in handy there, I look forward to see what the sequel looks like.

The Angel Joins The Justice League of America

I'm guessing it will be a good while before we see another Justice League movie, be it a continuation or reboot of what has come before.  Interestingly, we'll be seeing two versions of the Justice Society sooner - on the Stargirl series and the Black Adam movie.  How crazy will it be if the JSA is more well established in the DCEU than the JLA?

Power Man & Iron Fist and The Phantom Stranger

O much was teased on the Marvel Netflix shows that never came to fruition.  We never got to see K'un L'un, the forming of Heroes for Hire, or Colleen and Misty joining forces to create Knightwing Investigations.  The silver lining there is that plenty of story material is left for when these characters finally join the MCU.  Hopefully the wait will not be too long!

All-Star Squadron, Firestar and The Inhumans

Concluding our 4-Part Epic, we see everyone has gathered together for the big finale!  Rumor has it that Marvel will be ignoring the ill-fated Inhumans series and begin re-introducing the characters in the Disney+ Ms. Marvel show.  I'm glad that they will be getting a second chance to shine, and hopefully this time around they will realize their full potential.

Firestar and Firebrand

Presenting Part Three of a Four-Part Epic!  Where are the first two parts of this story, you might ask?  Well, this picks off of events that began in STF #1603, and then continued in STF #1604.  It was another storyline that I thought had some more potential.  Now that you are all caught up, make sure you come back tomorrow for the exciting conclusion!

Captain America and Green Lantern

I think that Steve Rogers and Hal Jordan would work very well together.  Hal is known for his will power and Cap arguably has the strongest will of any hero in the Marvel Universe.  The real question is how long Sinestro would put up with being partnered with Arnim Zola!

Cap met the Alan Scott GL in STF #372 and then again in STF #719...

The Beast and Robin in: "Penny Pincher!"

This serves as a direct sequel to STF # 2134,  taking place just minutes later.  Now we have a clearer idea of what Hank McCoy was doing breaking into the Batcave.  That story always stuck in my head and I've been meaning to create a follow up for a while now.  I think he would get along with Dick Grayson, they would probably compare aerialist moves.

Lockjaw and Animal Man

Continued from yesterday's cover, we see that the Inhuman pooch was able to get away and find an ally.   Regular STF visitors will know that Buddy Baker, originally met the Pet Avengers back in STF #441... and it only stands to reason that he would be one human hero that they know they can turn to in a time of need.

Judge Dredd Vs. Pet Avengers

Mega City One's top law enforcement officer forced to become a glorified dog catcher?  I can't imagine Dredd would be too happy about that situation.  An angry Judge Dredd makes for a good story though, so I think this would be a fun read.

This is only the first part of a two-part adventure - so make sure that you stop by tomorrow for the thrilling conclusion!

Nightwing Vs. Sabretooth

This was a very tricky cover to create, but I was happy with the way it came out.  I remember when the original cover from New Teen Titans #19 with Nightwing having been laid low by Donna Troy first came out and I was blown away by the image.  I've long wanted to put my own STF spin on it, and I am glad I finally got around to doing so.

Superman and Mr. T

I get that today's costume designers want to use more modern fabrics and materials to create their movie superhero costumes, but I still wish that whoever is responsible for Superman's next cinematic outing will look at the Christopher Reeve version for inspiration.  The color scheme, cape length and "S" on the back of the cape all make for a look much closer to the comics than what the later films have given audiences.  And while we're at it, let the hair stylist know that the spit curl is iconic - don't leave it out!

Brother Voodoo and Plastic Man

The fact that these two have so little in common is what would make this an interesting team up to me.  I'm glad that Brother Voodoo has been confirmed as a character in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, after his introduction was set up in the first film when his brother was killed. there was talk a while back about a Plastic Man movie being pitched, but I haven't heard or read anything on that front in ages.  I know that Ben Schwartz expressed interest in playing him.

Thor and Harley Quinn

It will be interesting to see how Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) fares at the box office this weekend.  I have to admit that for me, it looks like it will be a rental, unless they reviews manage to sway my opinion.  Harley Quinn looks great in it, but Huntress, Black Canary and Cassandra Cain do not seem like the characters I know from the comics. Hopefully once I see the whole movie, that will not remain the case.

OK, I want to give thanks for the idea of giving Thor HQ's mallet - but I seem to have misplaced my notes on that.  So, whoever it was, speak up, and thank you!

Spider-Man and Batgirl in: "Howl of the Waynewolf!"

I am really curious as to what kind of plot will be cooked up for the sequel to Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.  If the end credits scene from the first installment is any indication, we can at least expect Spider-Man 2099 to show up.  I love the idea that has been floated of the movie Spideys (Maguire, Garfield, Holland) showing up, it might be fun to see them play off of one another.  Heck, let's let Nicholas Hammond's Spider-Man join the fun!

Ambush Bug Conquers The Marvel Universe

Well, since Ambush Bug's last venture into the Marvel Universe didn't go quite as planned, it looks like he decided to make a return appearance - with a vengeance!  One can only wonder what he would do with the power of the Infinity Gauntlet...

Thank you to Bob Greenwade, a Patron of this Blog, for suggesting this idea!

Captain Marvel Vs. Thanos

The Big Red Cheese facing off against The Mad Titan!  This would truly be a clash of personality as well as power.  I was glad to hear that a Shazam! sequel is moving forward - That Mr. Mind teaser at the end of the first movie really got me looking forward to a second installment.  Let's hope Asher Angel doesn't have too much of a growth spurt, he already seemed a little old to me to be playing Billy Batson this first time around.

Halo and Dazzler

Josh Brolin's Thanos was very cool, but he still isn't my favorite MCU villain.  That title goes to Cate Blanchett as Hela.  She was so much fun to watch and Blanchett chewed the scenery in all the right ways.  Her various looks throughout Thor: Ragnarok were all spot on, very faithful to the source material and quite impressive on the big screen.  I wouldn't mind seeing Hela make a return appearance.

The Jonses

I've featured the relationships between J'onn and Angelica as well as Jessica and Casey on the blog before, and I thought that it was time to put them together as a whole family.  OK, I am bracing myself for the comments - Where's Indiana?  Wheres Rick, Where's Osmosis? Where's Bridget? Where's Barnaby? Where's Fred?  Where's Cleopatra? Where's Jimbo?  Where's Samantha?  Where's Velvet? Well, there's no rule that says all Jonses are related, but maybe in a sequel one or two of them could show up.
