Alas, there was no mention of  Bill Foster when The Ghost returned in Thunderbolts.  I haven't heard that Laurence Fishburne is in the cast for Avengers: Doomsday.  Is there a chance he will appear in Avengers Secret Wars?  Or will we have to wait for the inevitable MCU reboot where perhaps a younger actor will take over the role?

These two would certainly eventually run into one another on the battlefield, if not in a laboratory setting.  It's only natural that they would cross paths, and I'm betting that they would work very well together.

Black Goliath's costume screams 70's superhero fashion.  Most of the choices would seem crazy today, But I always kind of liked it.  I enjoyed how he kind of seemed to be daring his opponents to punch him in the gut, that showed confidence!

Sometimes you don't need big battle sequences if the science is cool enough in a story. It's interesting to see superheroes putting their heads together to solve a problem rather than stop a crime. I can see these two being intrigued in whatever Starro needs their assistance with.

Ever since Laurence Fishburne was introduced in the MCU as Bill Foster, I have been hoping that we would get a flashback scene of his superheroic days. It seems that I may get my wish - sort of.  Recent interviews have hinted that we will indeed see a giant-sized Bill Foster in the future, but in animated form.  The next season of What If? is supposed to feature just such a scenario.  Of course, with most of Marvel's upcoming projects having their release dates pushed back, who knows when it will actually hit the airwaves?

I am glad to use a Black Goliath image here that was penciled by Sal Buscema and Inked by Jim Mooney.  Sal Buscema was the undisputed master of illustrating characters delivering or receiving a powerful punch, and Jim Mooney drew some of the prettiest girls in comics.  I was lucky enough to pick up original pieces by both of them several years back:

We've seen flashbacks of the original Ant-Man and The Wasp in action in the MCU, but what about Bill Foster?  I don't think I have seen Laurence Fishburne listed in the Quantumania cast, so it looks like we will have to keep waiting.  He was last seen promising not to abandon The Ghost, who is rumored to possibly be a part of either The Thunderbolts or Dark Avengers, so maybe there's another place that he could show up again.

I watched the Flash panel at DC Fandome and saw the trailer for the upcoming new season.  There was not one mention of Elongated Man.  It looks like his character and storyline will be written out early on and the show will focus on other subplots.  I was hoping maybe for a recasting of the character.  I get that the producers had issues with the actor portraying him, but it's too bad fans of the hero will no longer get to follow Ralph Dibny's story.

I read with interest that Laurence Fishburne is going to portray Bill Foster in the upcoming Ant-Man and The Wasp.  Will he be there in a professional capacity only, or is there a chance that we will see his super-heroic side?  Fishburn may be a bit too old an out of shape these days, but Marvel has demonstrated their ability to de-age actors for flashback sequences, so maybe they will surprise us.

Black Goliath's costume just screams Bronze Age and I love it.  I always liked those high collars, even though they don't seem to serve a purpose other than restricting peripheral vision. I do wonder why he left his gut uncovered.  Maybe Bill Foster really worked hard on his crunches and wanted to make sure everyone could see his six pack?

The BIG League

It was cool seeing both Ant-Man and The Atom grow to giant-size and battle in Captain America: Civil War and DC's Legends of Tomorrow respectively, but I have to admit that I had the same issue with both action sequences.  I'm not sure why when they size up, they suddenly start moving in slow motion.  It seems to undermine any advantage they get from being huge.  Wouldn't they still move around at a normal rate?

I thought that Bill Foster was a great character that never really got a fair shake at Marvel.  Following his short lived series he seemed to have trouble finding a permanent home, making guest appearances here and there, but never settling down anywhere.  He finally got a story arc in Marvel Two-In-One, but it revolved around him being terminally ill.  Illness didn't kill him off though, it was a clone of Thor in one of Marvel's many crossover events which seem to require a sacrifice.  The guy just never got the respect he deserved, in my opinion.

I always liked the character of Bill Foster from the days when he was a recurring character in Marvel-Two-In-One.  His solo title was short lived, but I had always hoped he would be given another shot once he took on the Giant Man moniker.  Unfortunately he was killed off unceremoniously in Marvel's Civil War event.  It seems every time there is one of these big events a character I like is killed for shock value, a trend that I am not a fan of.  I see lots of potential in characters like Foster, The Wasp, Elongated Man  and many others who have been treated like cannon fodder.  If the companies don't know what to do with these characters, fine... but I wish they would just let them lie in limbo for a while rather than taking them out of the game completely.
