Iron Man and Space Ghost

Lately when Chemo is featured in the comics, he has some kind of robotic appendages attached to him.  He still looks cool, but I still favor the more simple classic design, as used on this cover.  A giant sentient container of bubbling toxic waste is a terrifying concept and his appearances always excited me as a kid.

Batman, Angel and Colossus

These two X-Men never realized their full potential in the Fox X-movies.  I'm looking forward to seeing what direction they go in when they eventually join the MCU.

Black Cat and Birds of Prey

With Spider-Man deemed a criminal in the MCU, it might be a good time to finally introduce The Black Cat in the movies.  I can see her actually enjoying Perter Parker's new status quo and the dangers (and thrills) that it brings.  I am sure it would be a highly coveted role, what actress wouldn't want to play Marvel's answer to Catwoman?

The Joker and Uncle Scrooge

Even though Scrooge McDuck was created back in 1947, he was rarely featured in animation for several decades.  It wasn't until the mid 80's with Duck Tales and Mickey's Christmas Carol that he became a true cartoon star.  I'm going to have to look around Disney+ to see if they have 1967's Scrooge McDuck and Money available to watch.

Hawkman and Jonny Quest

I thoroughly enjoyed Future Quest, the revival of several Hanna-Barbera  characters, a few years back.  I hope there will be more to come.  I still say there is a ton of potential in a HB Cinematic Universe, and a live action Jonny Quest adaptation would be a perfect place to start one.

Stupendous Man Joins The Justice League of America

Who among us didn't wear a towel pretending to be a superhero at some point in our childhoods?  My favorite move was to roll up the towel and drape it over my shoulders like I was heading to the pool - and then running behind a tent or something, letting it flow down and become a cape, making for a quick change transition into my heroic persona.  I think I was inspired by Clark Kent doing something similar as he ran behind a hot dog stand at Niagara Falls in Superman II.

Wonder Man and Starfire

I can see a story with these two together.  As an actor/stunt man and model that also operate as superheroes, they spend their days in front of the camera and their nights fighting crime.  They would be sure to cross paths sooner or later.  A misunderstanding leads to fighting and eventually joining forces against the true enemy.  That would have been worth my sixty cents.

Citizen V and Batman's Villains

It will be interesting to see the evolution of Baron Zemo when Falcon and the Winter Soldier finally hits Disney+.  will the seeds be planted for his decision to create the identity of Citizen V and a team of Thunderbolts?  The villains disguised as heroes series was a favorite of mine and I would love to see that story line adapted for the MCU.

The Demon and The Black Panther

Hopefully we will hear some more concrete details on the Black Panther sequel soon.  Rumors persist that we will see Wakanda facing off against Atlantis with the introduction of Namor, The Sub-Mariner.  Then there are the reports that Ororo Munroe, Storm, will make her debut in the film as well.  One issue that I had with he first film was that T'Challa was a little overshadowed in his own movie, hopefully the sequel will still feature the title character front and center.

The Flash and The Punisher

Grant Gustin has indicated that there is likely at least one more costume upgrade needed for The Flash, and that he is a fan of the classic yellow/gold boots.  I'm not sure what's taken so long, but I hope that he means it and we will finally get the full Flash look from the comics in live action.  I'm not holding my breath waiting to see The Punisher with bright white boots and gloves when he joins the MCU though, somehow I don't think that's ever going to happen!

The Thing Vs. Man-Bat in: "Last Chance for Humanity!"

I think that everyone pretty much figures that The Thing will be realized with CGI motion capture when he comes to the MCU.  The next question is which artist's version will be used as a model when creating his look?  Will the computer artists go with the classic  Jack Kirby look, or perhaps an interpretation by George Perez, John Byrne or Ron Wilson?  Any one of those would work for me.

The Thing first met Man-Bat on a cover back in my MTIO: The Lost Issues days...

Thor Vs. He-Man in: "From Eternia With Death!"

Masters of the Universe seems to be having a bit if renewed interest these days.  She-Ra has been a hit on Netflix and I've read of plans to bring two more animated series from the world of MOTU to that streaming platform.  There's also a new live action movie in development - although they need to act fast, since prospective He-Man Noah Centineo has been scooped up by Warner Bros to plat Atom Smasher in the Black Adam flick.  I guess the kids that grew up watching the exploits on Eternia are at the age now where they are in charge of creating new entertainment.

These two first met in STF #1777...

Green Lantern & Green Arrow Vs. Vision & Scarlet Witch

Green Lantern is of course referring to the events of STF #607 here...

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but it looks like the Disney+ series Wanda/Vision has been delayed (along with Falcon & The Winter Soldier and Loki) due to lockdown preventing completion of filming on the series.  I'm not sure how much longer we will have to wait, but I hope that Marvel Studios finds a way to get these shows ready for air.  With the way all of their shows and movies are interconnected, and delays will have a ripple effect on their entire slate of projects.

Swamp Thing and Ant-Man

I am glad that Marvel is going ahead with a third outing for Ant-Man in the movies.  Rumors are swirling about what will be included.  The most plausible one is having his daughter Cassie join in on the heroics as Stature, paving the way for the New Avengers.  I've also read speculation that the microverse will be used to bring the Fantastic Four into the MCU.  I have a feeling that wherever it goes, the movie is going to be jam packed and probably larger in scale than the first two installments in the series.

Sun Boy and Nova Kane

When Chuck Small, a Patron of this blog, suggested pairing these two heroes together, I thought it was pretty random.  Upon closer inspection, I saw the red hair and similarity in costumes and realized the connection that he saw. There's definitely story potential there - thanks, Chuck!

Wonder Woman and Spider-Man (The Movie!)

As much as I loved the rare comic book live action program in the 70's, they were missing one major element - the super villains!  Yes, limited budgets were a factor, but I still they could have included some of them.  One of the main appeals of the Batman TV series was all of the colorful villains and who would be playing them, so the precedent had been set.  Alas, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man and The Hulk spent most of their time battling street thugs and gangsters.

Wonder Woman and Spidey shared a more traditional comic book adventure in STF #572...

The Hulk Vs. Sauron

This tale takes place not long after the events of STF #477... I can imagine that the Hulk's presence in Middle Earth would upset the balance of power, and that various factions would either try to destroy him or secure him as an ally.  Whatever he got up to, it would be sure to make for an exciting story.

Vixen and Hercules

I've had some fun with romantic relationships on this blog, most notably with the ongoing sagas of Wonder Woman and Captain America and The Power Couple.  I intend for both of those to continue, but I thought it might be time to start another romance.  Of course, we are only in the beginning here - Hercules may be smitten by the end of this tale, but will his feelings be reciprocated?  Only time (and future covers) will tell!

Wolverine and Katana

There has been talk of a "David Ayer Cut" of the first Suicide Squad film, since much of his original vision was left on the cutting room floor.  Most are curious about the extra scenes featuring The Joker that we saw in promotional materials for the film, but never made it to the final product.  I'm most curious about whether there is more footage of Katana.  She looked great in the movie, but barely got to do anything or be fleshed out as a character.  I'd like to think that she was written with more depth than what we saw in the theatrical cut of the movie.

Ambush Bug and Bug

Three energetic characters named bug from three different companies, all with a predominantly green color scheme.  It's only natural that they would gravitate to one another in the the nonstop party known as the STF universe!  With their fun personalities, I'm thinking that a story featuring this trio would be an enjoyable romp.

Hawkman and Red Sonja

One announcement that I am hoping to hear during the upcoming DC FanDome event is some casting for Black Adam, particularly the members of the JSA that are slated to appear in that film.  I think that Oscar Isaac could make for a cool Hawkman.  He might have to bulk up a bit to be able to go up against The Rock, but what actor wouldn't?

The Magnificent Misters

When Bob Greenwade, a Patron of this Blog, suggested bringing back the trio of Misters from way back in STF #78 and adding in Mr. Majestic, I thought it was a good idea.  I decided to go one step further and add in Mister Miracle to make it a full team.  Let's just hope that The Expansion Team and The Roustabouts don't mind having their members poached for this self-loving assemblage!

Spider-Woman and The Huntress

Spider-Woman has undergone a few costume changes recently, probably to give her a more movie-friendly appearance once she makes the leap to the big screen.  Personally, I prefer her original look.  It has nods to Spider-man's outfit while still having its own unique feel and looks even better when topped of by her gorgeous mane of hair.  I'm not holding my breath waiting to see it show up in the movies, though.

These two previously met in STF #656...

Superman Vs. Fin Fang Foom

DC Comics is planning a big event next month with DC FanDome, promising lots of announcements for future projects.  I am really hoping that we will be getting some more clarityas to what Henry Cavill's return to the role of Superman will entail. Will he truly only be used as a guest star in other movies or have they been holding back on us, waiting to announce an actual solo Superman movie?  I'm hoping for the latter.

Tarzan and The Herculoids

Both of these properties were part of my regular Saturday morning viewing as a kid, so this is a meeting I have been imagining for decades.  Their worlds really do seem like they would easily go together.  I would have loved to have seen an animated crossover.  Heck, make it live action - Sure there would be special effects required, but think of the money that could be saved on the wardrobe budget!

Adam Strange and Luke Skywalker

Continued from yesterday's cover, we see Adam has found an ally...

I watched The Clone Wars from time to time but was never that invested in the series.  Still, I was jonesing for more Star Wars after The Mandalorian ended on Disney+, so I decided to watch the final season.  The first episodes are OK, but the series really ends on a high note.  The final four episodes are fantastic and action packed, some of the best Star Wars material since Disney acquired the rights to the franchise.  Plus, they heavily feature Ahsoka Tano, a very cool character that will make her live action debut in the second season of The Mandalorian.

Adam will cross paths with Darth Vader later in his career, as told in STF #2832...

Adam Strange Vs. Darth Vader

Apparently Adam Strange was the star of a DC Showcase animated short released earlier this year.  I'm not sure which main feature it was attached to, but I am going to have to seek it out.  I have seen a few clips from it shown on Youtube, and it looks pretty good.  Previous versions of Adam Strange in animation have been fun but somewhat light hearted.  This looks like a serious straight adaptation and I look forward to seeing the complete version.

This is only part One of a Two-Part epic, so make sure you come back tomorrow for the exciting conclusion!

Captain America and Captain Marvel in: "Panic at the World's Fair!"

I have always really enjoyed the classic Republic cliffhanger movie serials, and I con only imagine how fun they were for kids back when they originally premiered.  Among my favorites are King of the Rocket Men and Captain Marvel, which both have very impressive flying sequences (certainly more convincing than those found on the 70's live action Shazam! TV series).

These two captains met in a more traditional comic book adventure in STF #494...

Deathlok and Black Lightning

It will be interesting to see where Black Lightning goes now that it is in a larger world of superheroes after the Crisis event.  Will the show still be rooted in street level crime or will it get a bit more larger than life?  We've seen seeds planted for The Outsiders as well as The Masters of Disaster being formed, perhaps one or both of those teams will become fully developed.  Either would be cool, both would be epic!

Spider-Ham, Animal Man and Atom Ant

I got a kick out of the four Animal Man shorts that ran on the Cartoon network a few years back.  The voice of Buddy Baker seemed familiar to me, and now I know why - it was provided by none other than Weird Al Yankovic!  Now, that's inspired casting, almost as good as John Mulaney as Spider-Ham!

Batgirl and The Rocketeer

Lots of rumors are swirling as to what it will mean if Michael Keaton does indeed return to the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman for a The Flash and more DC movies.  Reports that he will be taking on a mentor role has folks (myself included) hoping to see a Batman Beyond film.  Then there's the rumor that he will be a guiding hand in a Batgirl movie.  I think that could kind of work, it will be interesting to see what kind of direction is taken with it.
