Hawkman and Red Sonja

One announcement that I am hoping to hear during the upcoming DC FanDome event is some casting for Black Adam, particularly the members of the JSA that are slated to appear in that film.  I think that Oscar Isaac could make for a cool Hawkman.  He might have to bulk up a bit to be able to go up against The Rock, but what actor wouldn't?

I fomdly remember Marvel Team Uo # 79 (where the Red Sonja image is from). I was 12 and not interested in Conan, so knew nothing of Sonja, but enjoyed Mary Jane becoming a warrior woman, fighting side by side with Spider-man. Great John Byrne art!

Good cover, but that story idea is just an absolute gem. It's got lots more potential too.
Shayera, come out, come out, wherever you are!
An ongoing quest beckons. Which super heroine will she pop up in next? Medusa? She-Hulk? How about Fly-girl from Archie comics? A change from Marvel and she's got wings.
(Come to think of it, Shayera-Quest aside, it'd be great to see more Archie characters - the Fly, the Shield, the Jaguar. You don't seem to have used them much.)

Another shut up and take my money moment.

@Davejonz: Archie Comics can be awfully over-protective when it comes to their characters being depicted in pastiches of any kind. So, don't hope too highly.

@Ross: like my fellow reviewers, I'm also reminded of MTU v.1/#79. The issue in which Kulan Zath made his debut as a modern-day Marvel super-villain!* With regard to your cover-sim, I'd hazard to guess that, this time, he's manifested himself in Midway City. Perhaps even by usurping the body of the Matter Master!

*Although, being creator-owned, he's now a denizen (always wanted to use that word!) of the DE Universe.

While I strongly prefer the silver age Hawk couple to that of the gold, your use of this premise has some real possibilities. Imagine a few time displaced versions of Shayera confronting each other without remembering who they really were.

Whoever plays Carter Hall, whether in Black Adam or Stargirl, will be compared in my mind to Michael Shanks on Smallville. He set the bar pretty high, in my opinion.

That is, on the cover at the same time.

I'm kinda bummed that Black Adam and Captain (SHAZAM!) Marvel are not connected! (Don't get me started on "Black Sivana")

Anybody else enjoying the latest run of Hawkman - Carter is DC;s Indiana Jones, reborn across SPACE and TIME!

Shanks did a great job as Carter Hall but without the physique or CGI it is hard to do a good Hawkman.

I have been thinking of this team up since Red Sonja took over Mary Jane - Shayera was the original firey redhead.

@Davejonz: Speaking of Archie Comics, what about Ambrose (Little Archie) and Ambrose (Sabrina, the Teenage Witch)?

Carycomic said...

I can just see the title, now.

"War of the Ambroses!" Starring Michael Douglas, Danny DeVito, and Kathleen Turner (as one of Sabrina's aunts) and Melissa Joan Hart (as Sabrina, herself).
