Green Lantern and Battlestar Galactica

One aspect that I used to get a kick out of with Hal Jordan was how, despite being a superhero and intergalactic peacekeeper, he always seemed to have a tough time keeping his personal life together.  He was a great test pilot, but upon losing that job, he went through a series of occupations such as toy salesman that never really clicked for him.  He didn't have much luck with the ladies either - finally winning the heart of Carol Ferris only to have her become his arch-enemy.

Battlestar Galactica and The Silver Surfer

The Silver Surfer is set to star in another comic series beginning soon.  That in and of itself is no big deal, Marvel cancels and relaunches its line of titles with alarming regularity these days.  Sill, the creative team of Dan Slott and Mike Allred has me intrigued. I've enjoyed Slott's work on Spider-man and The Thing, and Allred is one of the most creative artists working today, perfect for an outer space setting.  This is one series that I m going to have to check out.

The Metal Men Vs. Battlestar Galactica

I was late to the party when it came to the new Battlestar Galactica TV series.  I had heard good things but missed too many episodes and never gave it a chance.  Finally, I was able to catch up on Netflix, and I was hooked.  When the series ended, I wanted more, so I tried out the prequel series Caprica.  It was OK, but didn't grab me the same way as BSG and at any rate it only lasted a single season.  Finally, another pilot was produced that was much more like what I was hoping for - Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome.  It featured a young Adama learning his way and used a lot of CGI imagery.  The pilot was first shown in installments online and then as a special on the SyFy Network.  For reasons I cannot fathom, it was not picked up to become a full series, which is a real shame because I thought that everyone involved did a great job with it.  If you are a BSG fan and have not seen it, it is well worth seeking out.

Superman and Battlestar Galactica

I was a big fan of the revamped Battlestar Galactica series and I was very excited when I heard about Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome, a series featuring Adama in his 20's, just joining the war against the Cylons.  I liked Caprica OK, but this seemed like the prequel I was really waiting for.  Unfortunately the show is not going to be picked up, and all that was produced was a pilot.  I watched it in installments at http://www.machinima.com/ and was very surprised at how much I liked it.  The acting, story line and effects all kept me quite engaged, and I highly recommend that BSG fans check it out.  SYFY is going to air the pilot in February and hopefully there will be a big enough reaction that they will perhaps reconsider their decision not to go forward with the series.
