Brother Voodoo and Dr. Occult

I hope everyone is managing  to give Halloween to the kids in some way today.  You only get a handful of Halloweens during your childhood, and this is one that actually falls on a Saturday.  It would be a shame to just cancel it altogether and hopefully everyone will be able to enjoy the spooky holiday safely.

Moonstone Vs. Harley Quinn

Here's a match up that I am surprised that nobody has suggested before, because it feels like a natural.  Both are villains with backgrounds in psychiatry and have each found themselves fighting on the side of good from time to time.  Despite those similarities, I am betting they would not get along at all, given their personalities.  One has a cold, calculating demeanor while the other's is crazy and unpredictable.  I'd love to see this battle done for real.

Mary Marvel and Captain America

The Shazam! sequel should start production soon and, like most comic book movies these days, it looks to be a jam packed affair.  Besides Billy, there is now a whole family of super-powered heroes to deal with and there has been talk of more villains in addition to the Sivana/Mr. Mind team.  Rumors persist of Superman making a proper appearance this time around as well.  With all of that going on, will there be room for The Shazam character that I really want to show up - Mr. Tawky Tawny?

Green Lantern Corps and Captain Marvel in "Get Them to the Guardians!"

I am hoping we get some casting news for the HBO Max Green Lantern Corps series soon.  John Stewart and Hal Jordan are being saved for the big screen, so this series will focus on Alan Scott, Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz.  I do hope they manage to get some alien GL's in there, despite a lower streaming budget. Chaselon makes everything better.

Mar-Vell previously met the GLC in STF #221...

Master of Kung Fu and Wildcat

Bob Haney was clearly a Wildcat fan, which explains why he made multiple appearances in the pages of The Brave and The Bold.  I always liked when he would show up, and didn't realize until years later that Haney was breaking DC continuity by featuring Ted Grant in Earth One stories.  Eventually, DC just considered his stories to be taking place on Earth-B and let him have his own little corner of DC Comics all to himself.  An elegant solution, I must say!

Lex Luthor Vs. Power Man & Iron Fist

Since Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will center around a martial arts tournament, it seems like it would be a perfect place to feature a contestant from K'un Lun and introduce the world of Iron Fist to the MCU.  Alas, while there will be contestants culled from Marvel's library of characters, that does not seem to be the plan.  Hopefully it won't be too long before we find out how Danny Rand and Luke Cage will join in on the big screen super heroics.

Dick Tracy and The Hulk

Hopefully the next time we see The Hulk in the MCU, we will get a little bit of the tension back.  I have enjoyed his last few outings, but he has mostly been used for comic relief.  The Hulk works the best for me when he is presented as a little bit dangerous and unpredictable to be around, even to his allies.

Ben 10 and Dial "H" For Hero

I remember looking at issues of Adventure Comics that featured Dial "H" For Hero and considering whether I should submit a hero to DC Comics for consideration.  Mainly I wanted to see one of my made up characters drawn by George Perez on the cover!  Alas, I never did, I guess I didn't want  to risk signing over a potential million dollar concept to DC!  I do wonder how many of the heroes were actually created by fans and how many came from within the DC offices.

Thank you to comics' historian and Patron of this blog, Marc Tyler Nobleman, for suggesting this team-up!

Human Torch and Hourman

Like many, I was surprised at the return of The Red Skull in the last two Avengers movies, as I had heard that Hugo Weaving did not want to return to the character.  It turns out that it wasn't Weaving at all, but Ross Marquand seamlessly stepping into the role.  It's no wonder that he was so convincing, from interviews I have seen with him from his work on The Walking Dead, Marquand is a gifted impressionist. Add in the talents of the make-up and CGI artists, and the transformation was complete.

Avengers and Booster Gold

Wasn't there talk of a Booster Gold and Blue Beetle movie a few years ago?  I wonder how far into development it got before being put on the back burner along with Spielberg's Blackhawk and other movies announced but never produced.  Maybe a HBO Max series might be a better choice for the property anyway, we'll see if the project gets another chance on that platform.

Animal Man Vs. Aliens

We had fun speculating what would happen if Deadman attempted to take over a werewolf in STF #3105, now I pose the question - what happens if Animal Man tries to absorb the abilities of a Xenomorph?  Would he be able to go toe to toe with one of them or would their ability to overtake a host body lead to complications for good old Buddy Baker?  I'm not sure what the effects would be, but it would be fun to find out.

War Machine and Bulletman

Looks like War Machine is finally going to find his way back to his own era after battling the villain that sent him to WWII... regular STF: The Lost Issues visitors know that James Rhodes has been spending time in the past with Sgt. Rock, as depicted in STF #1613 and again in STF #1827, and that he also had a detour with G.I. Robot in STF #3070... I'd say that he has more than earned his ticket home.

Wonder Woman and Photon

Wonder Woman 1984 is currently slated to open on Christmas, but it has been re-scheduled and delayed so many times that I will believe it when I see it at this point.  Black Widow has already peen pushed deep into 2021 while The Batman now will not open until mid-2022!  Maybe there is a silver lining to all of these delays, though.  Even a huge fan like me was feeling a little superhero fatigue with so many movies coming out.   Avengers: Endgame was spectacular, but also felt like a finishing point in some ways and a good place to take a break before dining into the next multi-picture epic.  A year without new content may be just what comic book fims need to cleanse the palate maintain interest in the genre..

Challengers of the Unknown Vs. Kang

I was very happy to hear the casting of John  Majors as Kang for the MCU.  He's been well reviewed in Lovecraft Country.  Although I haven't seen that show yet, I enjoyed his performance in Da 5 Bloods.  I have been waiting for Kang to show up since the first Avengers movie, and I can't wait to see the time travelling villain brought to life.  Even cooler, he will make his debut in Ant-Man 3, which is sure to make that the biggest film of the trilogy.  Will his involvement pave the way for the Fantastic Four to make their debut as well?

Yondu and Green Arrow

Who would have thought that Yondu would become a beloved character in cinema?  James Gunn was able to take a low profile member of a low profile Bronze Age comic team and, with the performance of Michael Rooker, make him a fan favorite with movie goers.  Will Gunn be able to work the same magic with The Suicide Squad?  Will we all eventually be talking about the amazing story arc of  Savant, Ratcatcher or Polka-Dot Man?

Imperial Guard and Legion of Super-Heroes

I've been meaning to get both of these groups together on a cover for a while, but it has always been a challenge, given the huge rosters that each team has.  It's more like teaming up two armies! Looking at the final cover, one thing really stands out to me - Dave Cockrum really knew how to design costumes!

Venom joins Suicide Squad

Now we are hearing rumors of Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom joining in on the action of the in-development third Marvel/Sony Spider-Man movie.  With Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Jamie Foxx and Electro and possible even Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire as interdimensional Spideys, this film looks to be jam-packed.  The current theory is that Wanda/Vision on Disney+, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and the third Spider-Man film will combine to make a Marvel multiverse epic story line.

Gandalf and Bone

I was a huge fan of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy.  I loved every minute of them - even the extended director's cuts.  His Hobbit trilogy, I felt was a bit bloated and overstuffed -  it really should have only been a single movie.  So, I am wary about the new LOTR being prepared for Amazon Prime, will there be enough new material to explore?  I'll go into it with an open mind, Hopefully it will do Tolkein proud.  One show I am really looking forward to is the  Netflix adaptation of Jeff Smith's Bone.  I can't wait to see some footage so we have a feel for what the series will be like.  It's a good time to be a fantasy fan.

Deadman and Werewolf by Night

Here's another match up that I think could make for a very interesting tale based on the complication that Deadman describes above.  What would happen if he took over the body of someone that has already undergone such a major transformation?  Would he be able to reign the monster in, or would its savage side overcome him as well?  I know that I would shell out 60 cents to find the answer!

Katana and Iron Fist in "Killers of K'un Lun!"

Karen Fukuhara was very impressive as The Female in the Second season of The Boys on Amazon Prime, both in her dialog-free dramatic moments and her incredible fighting scenes.  So much so that it really highlights how under-used she was as Katana in the first Suicide Squad movie.  I look forward to seeing where her character goes in Season Three of The Boys, and I hope that we haven't seen the last of Katana on the big screen.

Katana and Iron Fist first met in STF #1997...

Black Adam Vs. Doctor Doom

I love all the enthusiasm that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has for the in-development Black Adam movie, but one thing seems off to me.  Johnson looks great in the Black Adam costume in the various promotional images that I have seen - except that for some reason he's bald!  I'm not sure why they wouldn't give him the traditional widow's peak hairdo from the comics.  Having Johnson remain bald for the role just makes him look like all the other characters he's played recently, it's an odd decision to me.

Bishop and The Flash

Grant Gustin has teased that the yellow/gold boots will finally be added to the costume in the upcoming season of The Flash, and I hope that comes to pass.  It's always bothered me that the live action depictions of the character have never included them.  Even the concept image of the in development Flash movie showing the updated costume there seems to omit them.  Come on, costume designers - this is one hero that needs extra protection for his feet!

The Metal Men Vs. The U-Foes

I have always thought that The U-Foes were very cool and formidable, and it was always a treat to see them face off against The Hulk or other Marvel Heroes.  Still, I think they may somehow have ended up in the wrong universe, because to me they seem like the perfect adversaries for The Metal Men!  How fun would it be to see these two groups clash?

The Galaxy Trio and The Fantastic Four (And More!)

Ever since I saw Marvel's Fantastic Four share the opening credits for Hanna-Barbera's World of Super Adventure with HB's stable of heroes as a kid, I have wanted to see an honest to goodness meeting between these two comic universes.  Alas, the Hanna-Barbera superhero seem to restrict their crossovers to DC characters these days, but there's no reason we can't imagine what it would be like for the Marvel heroes to get in on the action here at STF: The Lost issues!

The X-Men and Captain Comet

With the casting for Kamala Khan set, The MCU seems ready to dive into the world of Inhumans.  The Eternals is on the horizon as well, yet another secret race of super powered individuals on Earth.  This is all very cool, but does pose a problem for when Marvel wants to introduce the X-Men.  Will they be able to differentiate mutants from all of the other groups of superheroes out there?  Why would they be shunned by a world that is already so used to metahumans?

Coming tomorrow: STF #3100!

Moon Knight and Elongated Man in: "Midnight... The Stretching Hour!"

It's time for another adventure featuring the World's Greatest Fighting Team!  Well, the world of STF anyway...

This is the sixth appearance of the MK/EM team - Ralph fell under Eclipso's influence in STF #2908, They faced an angry underworld in STF #2831,  Psycho Pirate turned them against each other in STF #2732, Ralph came to the rescue in STF #2518, and they first started working together in STF #2169...

Aquaman and Doctor Strange

Well, it looks like there's going to be some major multiverse competition in the movies coming up.  Now that word of both Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck reprising their roles as Batman in the in-development Flash movie is out, Kevin Feige is apparently looking for ways to outdo DC with his Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.  There are rumors that he is trying to cast alternate takes on Marvel heroes with actors that were almost cast in the roles, such as Tom Cruise as Iron Man, Emily Blunt as The Black Widow and John Krasinski as a Hydra-Loyal Captain America.  Then there's the next Spider-Man film which will feature Jamie Foxx back as Electro and is rumored to maybe feature Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield returning to their Peter Parker/Spidey roles - and let's not forget that J.K. Simmons is already back as J. Jonah Jameson!  Can they pull it all off?

Hercules and Vixen in: "The Olympian Has Fallen!"

Presenting the second meeting between two heroes that really need to join their respective cinematic universes.  Vixen was realized well on TV, but they didn't do enough with her character.  Marvel's Hercules has yet to make a live action appearance, and that is something that must be rectified.

Hercules first became attracted to Vixen in STF #3014... Will he be able to win her over?  Only time (and future covers) will tell...

The Collector Vs. Larfleeze

Here are a couple of characters that would definitely be at odds if they ever crossed paths.  The Collector has plenty of exotic weapons in his possession already, while Larfleeze is an entire Lantern Corps unto himself.  There would be no shortage of fireworks!

Thank you to Thrawn7, a Patron of this Blog, for suggesting this match up!

Samurai Jack and Power Man

I am eagerly awaiting the return of Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal on a the Cartoon Network this coming Sunday night.  I absolutely loved the first five episodes and they ended on quite a cliffhanger.  Hopefully the series will continue on beyond ten episodes, in my opinion it is some of the best animation for TV ever produced.  I didn't realize Tartakovsky had worked on a Cage mini series, I'll have to check it out.

Spider-Man and Alfred

Long time STF visitors know that Alfred and May have had eyes for each other since way back in 2010... and it looks like they are ready to take the next step.  Something's clearly up though - and let's be honest, how often do comic book weddings go off without some sort of hitch?
