Bulletman and Captain America

 

I remember being surprised when I first encountered Bulletman in the comics.  Here he was appearing in a Justice League/Justice Society crossover - and I didn't realize DC had the rights to the character.  Up until then, I had seen him only as an action figure, I thought he was part of the G.I. Joe line. I'm still not sure how he got mixed in with the rest of those Real American Heroes.

When I was a kid I thought that Bulletman had a much higher profile than he actually did.  I mean, he had his own action figure after all!  Alas, I only got to see him in action in a few Shazam-related guest appearances over the years.  I still thought he was pretty cool, though, and always got a kick out it when he would indeed show up in a story.

It sounds like Marvel may finally be preparing a Nova movie.  The studio has reserved a few release dates for untitled movies a few years down the road and there is a lot of speculation that Nova will be joining the likes of Blade and The Fantastic Four in taking up one of those slots. Let's hope we get some concrete confirmation soon, along with hints as to what direction the movie will go in.

War Machine and Bulletman

 

Looks like War Machine is finally going to find his way back to his own era after battling the villain that sent him to WWII... regular STF: The Lost Issues visitors know that James Rhodes has been spending time in the past with Sgt. Rock, as depicted in STF #1613 and again in STF #1827, and that he also had a detour with G.I. Robot in STF #3070... I'd say that he has more than earned his ticket home.

When I was a kid I was under the impression that Bulletman was a much bigger comics star than he was.  This was mainly due the the fact that he had his own action figure well before many heroes from DC or Marvel could make the same claim - I can still remember the "Bulletman the Human Bullet!" theme song in my head.  Sure, he was a G.I. Joe version of the character, but he seemed like the same guy to me.  Alas, the real deal could only be found in rare guest star appearances with the Justice League or Shazam Family.

Details are emerging about the New Mutants film, with some casting choices already made.  It's described more as a horror movie than a traditional superhero flick, and there will be no costumes.  That's too bad, the black and yellow uniforms used in X-Men: First Class and Deadpool worked pretty well, and I was looking forward to seeing, Sam, Dani and the rest in their classic outfits.
