Jimmy Olsen and Professor X

 

I'm looking forward to seeing Patrick Stewart as Professor X one more time in Avengers: Doomsday.  I just hope he doesn't die in the movie, though.  We've already seen Professor X killed off in X:Men 3, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Logan and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The poor guy can't get a break - only Thomas and Martha Wayne have had more on-screen deaths!

Sure, it's easy to accept a hero from another planet when they have movie star good looks.  What if your savior has a face that only a mother could love?

Jimmy Olsen and Doctor Strange

 

We saw Doctor Strange's frustration working with Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and I think there would be similar friction if he had to team up with Jimmy Olsen as well. Jimmy is no fool, but he does seem to be a magnet for chaos.  This could be an entertaining story to read.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Jimmy Olsen

 

I thought that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem was a fun movie. The gritty animation style worked well and reminded me of some of the earlier comics that featured the group of pizza-loving brothers.  I also liked how they were presented as younger, truly teenagers for once. The April O'Neill redesign really didn't work for me though, that seemed to be change for change sake.  Still, It's a fun, fast paced adventure that is well worth watching for fans of the characters.

Now that the Snyder-verse has more or less come to a close with The Flash (and its less than stellar box office receipts), James Gunn, Peter Safran and DC can start to get their new DCU underway, beginning with Superman Legacy.  Casting announcements seem imminent, and I've liked some of the names I've heard rumored for Clark, Lois and Lex.  It'll still be some time before we see any footage, but at least Superman and Lois has been renewed on TV for one more season (sadly minus the entire supporting cast) to tide us over.

The Falcon and Jimmy Olsen

 

I'll be interested to see if Jimmy Olsen will be a part of Janes Gunn's Superman: Legacy.  Gunn seems to want to go back to basics with the property, so I think there's a good chance we'll see Superman's Pal.  The real question is, will we see a ginger live action Jimmy for the first time ever?  

Supergirl and Medusa

 I name dropped Jimmy The Hutt back on the cover of STF #3134, and for some reason the concept stuck with me.  It was just so ridiculous of an idea and yet a transformation that I could imagine the Silver Age Jimmy Olsen getting himself into, that I just had to see if I could make it a reality. So, this is me finally getting around to that.

Rumors are swirling that a teaser trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be dropping very soon, and I am really looking forward to seeing what's in store. Marvel has a lot to accomplish with the movie, transitioning away from T'Challa after Chadwick Boseman's tragic passing and introducing a major MCU player in Namor, The Sub-Mariner.  I'm also looking forward to seeing what new fashions and devices are coming our way, the first film was a visual treat due to all the cool design work.

They're both redheads that have been known to turn into wolves, so I think that these two would definitely find some common ground.  I always like Rahne Sinclair, especially in her earlier appearances.  Later efforts to make her a little more edgy didn't really work for me.

Nightwing & Flamebird and Nomad

 

Nightwing & Flamebird was such a fun concept in the Silver Age.  The fact that Superman would still fight crime in a place that nullified his powers just showed how heroic he truly was, not to mention that ist showed that he picked up a lot of pointers from his adventures with Batman and Robin.  Then he let Jimmy Olsen join in on the action, solidifying his title of Superman's Pal.  The costumes were pretty cool, too!

It's always interesting to see Superman have to contend with supernatural situations, so this could be an interesting pairing to read about.  Who knows what mischief Jimmy got into to warrant the attention of the underworld?  

Man-Wolf and Jimmy Olsen

Man-Wolf was a great example of the crazy anything goes attitude that Marvel had in the 70's.  John Jameson went from being the son of a Spider-Man supporting character, to becoming a horror character, and then transformed into a cosmic hero, complete with a detailed George Perez outfit!  I guess sometimes you have to keep throwing a character at different walls and seeing when they stick!

Superman Vs. The Juggernaut

The Juggernaut is one X-Men foe that I would like to see return in the MCU.  He was pretty much treated as a joke in both his X-Men and Deadpool film appearances, and really has not been given the respect he deserves on the big screen yet.  Did they even touch on the fact that he is a half brother to Charles Xavier?  There's still plenty of story to mine with the character.

The Black Cat and Jimmy Olsen

Jimmy Olsen is set to be a character in the upcoming Supergirl series, but from descriptions, it sounds like he will not be the awkward redhead we know from the comics.  Come to think of it, in all of his various live action movie and television depictions, Jimmy has never been accurately portrayed as having red hair. Just another example of DC's anti-ginger bias, I tell you!

Spider-Man and Jimmy Olsen

I finally caught The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on Blu-Ray and while there are moments of great potential in there, the film seemed to be a wasted opportunity for the most part.  There were things I liked a lot - the new costume is the best live action Spidey suit to date, Gwen's fate was handled nicely, and the special effects looked great for the most part.  The story, however, was a mess and seemed to repeat past mistakes of other films.  Electro looked like Mr. Freeze and had the same back story as The Riddler, giving his whole arc a Joel Schumaker vibe.  The Green Goblin was a boring retread with an even worse costume than the first two times, and the Rhino was barely there with a way-over the top performance from the usually reliable Paul Giamatti.  On top of all of that, too much time is spent on the mystery of Peter's parents, which after two movies I still don't care about.  I hope that some real reevaluation is done before bringing The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to life.

Jimmy Olsen and Werewolf By Night

This pairing was the suggestion of Michael Eury, Editor-in-Chief of the always awesome Back Issue magazine (subscribe at http://twomorrows.com/), and I had to give it a shot.  Jimmy may have been written out of Superman's movie adventures, but I still have fond memories about that goofball always getting in over his head.  This is just the kind of predicament I would imagine him finding himself in if he ever ventured into the Marvel Universe.

Archie's Super-Teens Meet Nightwing and Flamebird

Superman's Silver Age tales could be very hokey, but there is an undeniable charm to them.  I loved all of the high-concept ideas that sprung from the world of Krypton.  The Bottle City of Kandor was one such cool concept, and the idea that Superman had a second super-heroic identity there just made it more fun.

Jimmy Olsen and Mr. Fantastic

I consider this a sequel to the Thing/Jimmy Olsen cover I did back during the MTIO run, in which Jimmy got up to a lot of trouble messing around in Reed Richard's lab.  It seems only fitting that Jimmy would atone by helping Reed out with a few science projects. I shouldn't be so hard on the poor kid though, he's had a rough couple of weeks.  The latest rumor is that he has been jettisoned in the upcoming Man of Steel film and replaced with "Jenny Olsen".  He just can't get a break.

I don't know if Jimmy Olsen will be part of the Man of Steel film, but I hope they give the character a nod.  It was cool to me that Jimmy was a sidekick that you could actually relate to a little more than most, which were simply younger versions of the starring hero.  Jimmy was just a regular awkward kid that Superman saw something special in, and it gave the reader the feeling that they could be worthy of being Superman's Pal too.  Hopefully Jimmy will not be deemed too "uncool" and be jettisoned from this new film iteration altogether.

The Thing and Jimmy Olsen

I can't imagine Ben would have much patience for Jimmy and his antics, which is why this would be a fun pairing. Just keep that kid away from the Negative Zone portal! Superman Returns had its share of issues, but one thing that I really liked was the casting of Sam Huntington in the role of Jimmy. Of all the actors that have portrayed him, I felt that Huntington was closest to the comic character. It will be interesting to see the take that director Zach Snyder has on Superman's pal with his upcoming reboot.
