Maybe this is the Ross-verse sequel to "Superman's Pal, JIMMY OLSEN #81." At the end of the Silver Age original, it was deduced to be some sort of hallucination.
But, what if (in your universe) that was merely a false memory? Magically implanted, as an opportunistic afterthought, by Dr. Strange's old foe; Lord Nightmare!

I'm with Dave, in how natural this cover looks. It could've been done by one artist in one sitting.
Jimmy does have a way of getting himself into situations, doesn't he? At least, the Silver/Bronze Age version of him did, and that's what I take this to be a part of (mainly the latter). I'd take the event on this cover to be a symbolic representation of the events in the comic, not a literal moment from within. Either way, Jimmy would almost certainly get back to the normal world in the end, but with something hanging over his head to be resolved at a later time -- maybe some mission he has to fulfill to resolve his debt to Hell.
Separately, I think it might be interesting to see Jimmy unexpectedly wake up in the middle of the Battle of Endor, apparently with some "destiny" to fulfill.
And yes, Ross, you're quite right about Superman dealing with supernatural situations. His vulnerability to magic means that he can be hurt, and his use of his powers is limited.
Still, that doesn't stop him from trying, anyway. ;-)
Maybe "magic energy" comes from a red sun energy filled world. That might be why he could be so vulnerable to magic in general. It overrides his yellow sun energy based powers.
Fortunately Jimmy took some of his elastic lad potion before he found his luck stretched to its limits. XD
Since Jimbo has a thing for blondes, including Supergirl, maybe he could meet and date Capt Marvel, Kara's sister?
@Horsefeathers: it (that vulnerability to magic) might even come from the Juru Valley of Krypton, itself.
PS: I still wish there was some way to get Stretch Armstrong to join the Expansion Team. There probably just aren't any good images of that character. :(

I don't remember exactly when, but it wasn't bronze age, more recent, like 90s or later, but I recall a Superman comic with a Vampire (possibly even Dracula himself) biting Supes on the neck, and his vulnerability to magic basically allowing the bite to work perfectly fine on him, as well as vampire hypnotism to get him in a vulnerable state.
Unfortunately for Dracula (or whoever) getting a mouthful of Supermans' blood was like taking in a mouthful of Yellow Sun Solar energy, and he went all burny-poof from his hefty taste of Kryptonian.
I'm not entirely sure how I feel about all of that, but that's how it went. Pretty sure the cover art had Supes in the process of being bitten too.
I remember that issue! It guest-starred the Phantom Stranger, who wound up teleporting the defeated Dracula (and the Frankenstein Monster, too!) back to their home dimension. Presumably, Marvel Earth-616,
