Daredevil and The Flash

 

It's too late to remove Ezra Miller from the already-shot Flash movie, but Warner Bros. will certainly have a new actor in the role of Barry Allen for any new projects.  For the first time I am hearing rumors of a replacement - George McKay.  I only know him from the movie 1917, but he was pretty good in that and certainly looks the role.  If he can pull off a convincing American accent, I'm all for it.  We'll see if this rumor pans out.

I was glad to use a Daredevil image here from the amazing David Mazzuchelli. I was very lucky to be able to pick up a DD sketch by him several years back: 

Batman and Dick Tracy in: "Knight and Day!"

 

Batman and Dick Tracy previously met in STF #1939 and first appeared together way back in a 2010 B&B Cover.... And this is a pairing that I'd love to see a real world crossover with.  Not just a one-shot, either - I think there's potential for an entire mini series here.  Just imagine  Batman and Tracy's rogues galleries going to war with each other, and our two heroes caught in the middle!  I know I would devour a tale like that. Heck, animate it!

Deathstroke Vs. Daredevil and Black Widow

It looks like a solo Black Widow film is finally going to happen.  Knowing Marvel, there will be other heroes that show up, and I am looking forward to hearing what other characters will fill out the cast.   Could this possibly be a chance to unite Marvel's cinematic world with its Netflix shows, and bring in Daredevil for a scene or two?  I'm sure that's a long shot but one can always hope.  I loved their comics together and would love to see their partnership represented on the big screen.

The Green Hornet and The Kingpin

I was sorry to hear of the passing of TV's Green Hornet, Van Williams this week.  It's been a tough few years with the loss of a lot of our childhood heroes, saying goodby to Yvonne Craig and Leonard Nimoy among others. At least through their iconic performances, their memories will live on for a long long time to come.

Commissioner Gordon and Daredevil

The one rumor about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that I really hope is not true is that in the DC cinematic universe, Jim Gordon will already be dead.  This would be a waste of Batman's second best supporting character, especially since it would mean we wouldn't see him in future films either, save for flashbacks.  I'd love to see someone like Bryan Cranston (who has voiced the role before) acting opposite Ben Affleck in a future flick.   I'm warming up to TV's Gordon on Gotham, but that guy really needs a pair of glasses and a mustache!

Hawkman Vs. The Vulture

Even though I had some major problems with Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3, I still was interested to see what he had in store for the fourth installment of his take on the franchise.  The rumor was that John Malkovich was set to portray The Vulture, and that could have been very cool.  We do see a set of what look to be Vulture wings in Osborne's labe in the Trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, so it looks like Malkovich may just get another chance in a sequel or the Sinister Six film.

Batman and Powers

Brian Michael Bendis is well known for his Marvel work, but my favorite stories of his are from before he joined the mainstream superhero world.  I enjoyed Jinx and Torso, and especially Powers.  He and artist Michael Avon Oeming told cool stories of cops in a world of superheroes, filled with mystery, plot twists, and great dialogue.  A TV series was recently attempted, but never made it to air.  It's too bad, it would make a cool live action show.

Batman and The X-Men (Retro)

Well, I've had Batman in retro adventures with each of the individual members, I guess it's time for him to meet the merry mutants as a whole.  Now, here's the First Class I was really hoping to see on the big screen.  Alas, with the X-films wonky continuity, it seems as though only a full franchise reboot will allow for that to happen.  It was great at least to finally see the traditional yellow and navy blue outfits on screen at last, proving they could look cool regardless of any comments made in earlier films.

Batman and Beta Ray Bill

Beta Ray Bill has one of the coolest character designs ever. It doesn't seem like it would work, but it does. Walt Simonson did a great job with him and gave him a great introduction - literally smashing on to the scene in that Iconic cover from his first appearance in Thor. I was happy as a reader that despite initial appearances he turned out to be a god guy, and that he stayed on as a supporting character for a while.

One of the nice surprises in the Planet Hulk Direct to DVD Animated flick was that due to rights issues, the Silver Surfer was replaced with Beta Ray Bill. It was very cool to finally see him animated, and his scenes are my favorite part of the movie.
