Maybe it's Catwoman out to get the long-lost body of the original MGM lion? Urban legend stating that it was mummified...then dipped in solid gold?
Well, seeing as how that's the comic book version of Batgirl'66 , up there, right next to the Rocketeer, then I'd have to guess Catwoman is getting some stiff competition from...King Tut!
But, that still wouldn't explain how Rocky and Bullw---I mean, Betty---got to the 1960's from Golden Age Hollywood.

Ross, if you had any fears about following up after yesterday's epic, you can forget them. This is superb! Another one that has me risking serious damage to my device as I try and prise open the cover.

My impression, based on the text blurb and Rocketeer's expression of surprise, is that it's Barbara who's gone back in time to Golden Age Hollywood. Given that sci-fi elements in B66 were kept low-key (Mr. Freeze's cryo-technology being the fanciest thing that I can think of), I'm not sure how that would've been accomplished, but who knows?
Nice seamless work on this one, Ross. The lighting and shadows really sell it as a unit piece, and the story is quite intriguing.

Yes, I have some more Alex Ross images in my library. He's tough to mesh with other artists though, but I'm sure I'll use his work again.

I mean, think about it! It wasn't till the Eighties that DC decided on a maiden name for Commissioner Gordon's wife. So, like, maybe Secord and Betty had a fallin' out and she moved back East to Gotham City and married her childhood sweetheart. Jimbo Gordon!

I liked this so much I hunted down the 2 originals. A really smooth piece of meshing! First you spotted the potential combination - and then you trimmed it to fit. Really impressed by the way you trimmed Rocketeer's shadow to match Batgirl's.
Here's a case where seeing how the magician does the trick leaves you even more impressed, not less.
