Rumor is that, like in the comics, The Mole Man will be the main antagonist of the MCU Fantastic Four film. I figured they would go with Annihilus, but this could be very cool as well. I have confidence that Marvel could present him and his underground kingdom in an impressive way.
This is only the first part of a Three-Part-Epic - so make sure you come back tomorrow for the next exciting chapter!

I like The Mole Man. Hopefully the success of an MCU film with him will lead to a better version of Doom, and the inclusion of Namor...
One can hope.
Intriguing! Will either of the two remaining parts involve the Inhumans meeting the Inhumanoids? ;-)
I'm afraid about how the Moloids will be portrayed. They are halfway between Minions and Kaiju, and I can see them being tilted too much toward either end if the PTB want a comedy or monster movie.
The Mole Man is a good character for this, and would be even if this was a stand-alone story. I'm not just speaking of the literal "underground" connection, but also of how he tends to straddle the line between villain and hero, being quite capable of working for the global good even if he's often rather short-sighted* in how he goes about things.
That rumor of the Mole Man being the main antagonist in the upcoming Fantastic Four film scores one for the "prescient" column of my fanfic script, which also uses him. A scene replicating the classic cover of Fantastic Four #1 (the comic) would be just the thing.
It does suggest that they're going with the original Earth-616 origin story for the FF, involving space travel, rather than the Earth-1610 ("Ultimate Fantastic Four") version involving interdimensional travel. The latter story involved Annihilus.
The next "broad stroke" that would really help me feel like I scored well in the area of predictions would be that the technology Reed is testing is based on the time-travel technology developed in Avengers: Endgame (remember, it also sent two of the three Time Heist teams to other planets). Supporting roles for Banner and Shuri are also in my version, so we can see how that goes as well.
Regarding Swamp Thing: I gather that the STF version of the character takes after the early comic, where he actually is a transformed Alec Holland and not just an ancient earth/plant spirit animating his remains. (I think, on the whole, that I'd prefer a hybridized version of his nature: Alec Holland transformed, reanimated, and empowered by the earth/plant spirit.)
That take on the character would, I think, make for an interesting team-up with Darkwing Duck's foe, Bushroot. Though initially a villain, Bushroot did team up with Darkwing once or twice, after learning to curb his methods a bit. Something with both of these plant-people on the warpath against some ecological offender would be an interesting cover (particularly if it's for Earth Day).
*Pun not intended, but appreciated.

Isn't that a "hybridized" version like that what DC has been using in the comics since 'Brightest Day'?
Sorry I can't join the general positive anticipation of the Mole Man as the FF's Big Bad. I remember Doc Doom, Sub-Mariner, Galactus. And Moley seemed distinctly B grade.
Still the cover's fine.
IIRC, Mole Man was the first villain the FF ever fought in the comics, so it makes sense that the MCU would follow that pattern.
Simreeve: It could well be. I haven't actually seen the interior of any DC comic since 52 or thereabouts, and certainly non with Swamp Thing.
@Davejonz: I'll reserve judgement until I actually see him on the silver screen in the final print of the film! As Hollywood has a recurring bad tendency to use stuff that winds up on the cutting room floor in their preview trailers.
Mole was their first comic enemy so why not.
I have to wonder: is Mole Man acting on his own? Or is he stooging for some bigger super-villain (a la the Plunderer and Thanos)?
