Krypto & Ace Vs. Kraven the Hunter

Even tough it's aimed at younger viewers, I am looking forward to DC League of Super-Pets.  I'm a sucker for comics, superheroes and animals, so there's a lot there to appeal to me.  I even have a cat named Ace!

I am always happy to use the artwork of Curt Swan on this blog.  I was lucky enough to get an original page by him (and Inker Bob Oskner) many years back - I liked this piece because it shows so many of Superman's powers in action:

"The Pound & the Furry"!! Hahahahahahahaha! OK, that was inspired, and punny at several levels! Nice one.

I love that sample of art work! Is it from the "The Day All Kryptonite Turned To Iron?"

It's from a back up story in Superman #399 "Never too Busy for a Fan"

I would've thought "Hound and Furry" was more natural as punny titles go. But, it's _your_ website. So... insert shrug icon here.

@Anonymous: the first half of the title was obviously a reference to "dog pound." As in, a place of canine captivity?

That Kryptonite chain is the only thing giving Kraven even a shadow of a chance against these two. At that, Ace looks like he's angry enough to give the guy a serious working-over.

Now if we can just get the (technically) feline pair of Streaky and Chewie, we can have a solid super-pet menagerie going. For that matter, I'd still like to see the Pet Avengers join forces with the Legion of super-Pets. (And of course, everyone's favorite Flerken teamed up with the Wookie after whom he's named!)

For once I agree with Bob Greenwade, maybe you could even use the idea for #3600, though it wouldn't surprise me if you had more grandiose plans for that issue!

PA/LOSP will appear eventually, I promise.

LOVE Krypto since his debut in the fifties. He's gone thru a lot over the years but rarely used to his full potential. Just wish there was some other way of pairing him up than using kryptonite. For that matter, it would be fun sending him back in time and teaming him with Red Sonja. Love to see her face first time she sees him in action.
Ace is only a dog. What could he do against this mighty hunter? How well could Batman train him to respond on his own? (smile insert here.)

@D. Tobor: All too well. Especially if Ace were one of those Kandorian esper hounds once used to track a framed Ak-Var, throughout the Bottle City, during the Silver Age!

Ak-Var (as Flame Bird): "Say 'hello' to Batman, Ro-Veer."

Esper Hound (via mandatory thought-balloon): "Hello to Batman, Ro-Veer."

Dear Ross: any chance of Dr. Doom going up against Jim Kirk, Jean-Luc Picard, Kate Janeway, or any other characters from the Star Trek milieu?*

* I've ALWAYS wanted to use that word! :-)

@Carycomic: well, as Sheldon of BBT would say: "Obviously, you now have."

I love using Doom so there's always a chance

I can see it now. Domm vs Krypto and Ace in... Who Let the Dogs in?
Doc just had to say those words to them - Prepare for your own Dooms Day.
Krypto just puts his head down and looks over his options of what to use first.
Ace is going to let his friend have some exercise...

Data vs. Doom would be an interesting match-up. I can see Victor trying to unlock Data's technological secrets, only for the android to turn Doom's own technological devices against him.

Afterthought: Doctor Doom versus Judge Doom.

My judgement would be in the not-so-good doctor's favor.
