Doctor Who and Dr. Manhattan

If there's one person that's not intimidated by beings in possession of nearly unlimited power, it's Doctor Who.  Dr. Manhattan would probably appreciate meeting someone that could understand his unique perspective on time and space.  Yes, I think that these to would get along famously.

This cover comes from a suggestion by Alex Johnson, a Patron of this Blog - Thanks, Alex!

"Alex and Ross." You know something? That'd be a great name for an artist!

Seriously, though; this is a truly inspired pairing. The only thing that might have a slight chance of surpassing it is the 4th Doctor teaming up...with the first 007.

"SPECTRE OF THE RANI."

Would James Bond ask her to be his little baby?

I'm not sure about this. The Doctor has tended to have a general distrust for those with Dr. Manhattan's level of power, and Dr. M's recent habit of rewriting reality would go against the Doctor's sensibilities.

I certainly could see the Doctor, in any of his incarnations, opposing Thanos or anyone else with the Infinity Gauntlet. "Nobody should have that much power! Nobody!" And he certainly would have a thing or three to say about the shenanigans of a certain fellow by the name of Sheev Palpatine.

But say, with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness coming up, maybe Dr. Manhattan could soon find himself opposed by fellow reality-bender Wanda Maximoff.

That'd be great as a photo-capture movie ad simulation. But, as a comic book cover, I'd rather see Dr. M contend against Synesthesia of FemForce!

Hmm... The Time Lords must have foreseen the emergence of beings like Dr. Manhattan, and still allowed their development for a reason.

But then, those transcendent entities would also have had foreknowledge of races like the Time Lords coming along, and yet they had some motive to permit them to have influence over time and space. It's starting to get a little too timey-wimey in here for me!

So after facing villains who nearly took the cosmos to the edge of destruction, I'm going to say the 4th Doctor is trying to help Dr. M put a shattered universe back together.

@Ken: Decent theory. I'll buy it.

Well, that was fast!

I enjoy these every day whether or not I've contributed.

Thanks Bob! But your view of the Doctor being distrustful of virtual gods like Dr. M has to be respected, I get it. Especially after stories like Doomsday Clock, I think it was. These cosmic types will toy with the universe the same way we doodle on old envelopes.

I've _never_ doodled on old envelopes. Blank scrap paper, yes. But, never old envelopes.

Unless, of course, the blank scraps were made from tearing up an old envelope?

They probably were.

And all they had to start with was a single jelly-baby!

Anonymous said...

Yeah, but jelly-babies don't stay little and sweet, forever. Eventually, they become scary jelly-adults!
