The Legion of Super-Heroes and The Galaxy Trio

I picked up a Birdman DVD and was surprised at what a kick I got out of the back-up cartoons featuring the Galaxy Trio, a team I had all but forgotten from my youth.  Vapor Man, Meteor Man and Gravity Girl looked cool and had interesting abilities, and outer space action is always fun.  It would be interesting to see a modern take on the property one of these days.

Great one! I agree, Galaxy Trio is a neglected super-team. There were a handful of appearances in the Gold Key Super TV Heroes anthology, but nothing noteworthy.
Hey, a great teamup with a character from that era, one I don't think you've done yet: Nexus and Space Ghost.
Please post if you're going to do this one, because if you don't, I will!

That does sound like a cool match up! I do have a Nexus cover coming up with another space faring hero.

If Galaxy Trio was a Hanna-Barbera property (like Space Ghost is) there's a good chance that they were a back-up feature in any of the DC comics published in conjunction with Cartoon Network (from the mid 1990's to the present; before that, I think they were handled by Archie, and before that, Harvey). Unfortunately, I've spent hours searching the internet trying to find someone-- anyone-- who has indexed the contents of these multi-story books to find my favorite characters and artists without buying every issue. No dice. It's always intriguing to find an image I can't attribute to a DVD box or promotional material because it might come from a comic I haven't found yet.

THIS is exactly why this is my favorite page!

I've never heard of the Galaxy Trio. But then, Hanna-Barbera created a lot of disposable characters, like The Impossibles...

The space/hero/adventure cartoons of Hanna-Barbera are seriously overlooked in other media outside of the DVD-nostalgia market.
Any thoughts of using The Pirates of Dark Water in a team up?

Don't really know those guys.

@pblfsda: the DC Comics series "Cartoon Network Presents" issues #5,#9,#13, #17, and #21 are all Toonami issues. The Galaxy Trio appear on the cover of issue #9 along with Birdman, Shazzan, and The Herculoids, however I cannot confirm if they have a story inside as well.

...this is a GREAT cover, one of my favorite super-hero cartoon shows from the swingin' sixties!

For those of you who don't know whom "The Galaxy Trio" are, Meteor Man (voiced by Ted Cassidy), Vapor Man (voiced by Don Messick), and Gravity Girl (voiced by Virginia Eiler) were created and designed by Alex Toth for Hanna-Barbera in 1966 as part of the NBC-TV series "BIRDMAN & THE GALAXY TRIO" [September 9, 1967 – September 6, 1969]. The complete series is available on DVD, but if you would just like to check out a random episode or two, there are currently several episodes on You Tube.
