Dick Tracy Vs. The Sinister Six

As cool as Dick Tracy's rogues gallery was, most of his villains did not live past their first adventure with the classic cop hero.  It's only natural that he would need to seek out new challenges once he worked through his personal roster of adversaries.  But how would he fare against the enhanced abilities of a half-dozen of Spider-Man's biggest foes?

Dick Tracy Vs. Two-Face

Harvey Dent is of course referring here to the events of STF #2497, where Tracy got the jump on a group of Bat-Villains. Let's see how things work out in a one-on-one confrontation, something that I am guessing they would both prefer for their own reasons.

Dick Tracy and Ace, The Bat-Hound

With Krypto confirmed for the upcoming Superman movie, I think it's high time for a live action Ace the Bat-Hound.  Whether as part of the new DCU iteration of Batman or an adaptation of Batman Beyond, we need to see the Dark Knight Dog do his thing.

Dick Tracy and Captain Marvel in: "Fisticuffs and Forensics!"

Maybe it's the squinty eyes, but these two always seem to fit together, despite the different types of stories that they get involved in. I can definitely see them forming a World's Finest type partnership.  Dick Tracy and Captain Marvel first met on the blog in STF #1322...

Dick Tracy and Green Arrow & Speedy

Chester Gould wrote and drew the Dick Tracy strip from the 30's to the 70's, and I imagine that kept him busy.  Still, it's a shame we never really saw him cross over and do any work for other comic book companies. How cool would it have been to see his take on characters like Green Arrow, Batman or Spider-Man - not to mention their rogues galleries?

Dick Tracy and Judge Dredd

It might be interesting to see how an old school cop reacts to the exaggerated world that Dredd inhabits.  Something tells me that he would soon learn to adapt and fit right in.  But is the world ready for Judge Tracy?

Dick Tracy and The Rocketeer in: "100 Ways to Whack a Witness!"

Presenting yet another chapter in the Rats McTattler Saga!  Tracy and The Rocketeer were last seen dealing with him in STF #3551, and first encountered him and each other in STF #2805... Let's hope the third time is the charm and they finally get the necessary information out of him!

Dick Tracy and The Spectre

One of the best parts of John Ostrander's 90's Spectre series was the exploration of Jim Corrigan's early years.  I could see Dick Tracy fitting right in with those pre-Spectre tales, so a story like this might not be as far fetched as it might initially seem.  I'd read it, anyway.

Sub-Mariner meets Dick Tracy

Now that Namor has been introduced to the MCU, I wonder where he will show up next.  My choice would be for him to team up with Dr. Strange and The Hulk (and The Silver Surfer, if he shows up in Fantastic Four as has been rumored) for a Defenders movie.  That way, Marvel can get around the loophole that Hulk and Sub-Mariner cannot have their own solo films.  I'd also like to see him putting the moves on Sue Storm just as he has done in the comics.

Calvin & Hobbes and Dick Tracy

Every once in a while, Bill Watterson would present a less cartoony style when depicting Calvin's imaginary adventures as Tracer Bullet, or even playing house with Suzie Derkins.  I was always impressed by those sequences - if Watterson had wanted to go with a sci-fi, detective, or superhero strip, he would have also found success based on his gorgeous illustrations.

Dick Tracy and Bullseye

I enjoyed the Dick Tracy movie back in the day.  It's been decades since I've watched it, I wonder if it holds up.  One thing I remember that bothered me was they used so many different Tracy villains in one single film, killing most of them off - it seemed like a waste of potential there.  I still think a Dick Tracy streaming series would be a great idea, that way each villain could get an arc or at least an episode to themselves.

Space Cabbie and Dick Tracy

Uh oh, looks like Tracy may just be travelling outside of his jurisdiction! I was glad for the chance to use the artwork of Peter Snejbjerg here.  He impressed me during his run on the 90's Starman series.  I was lucky enough to pick up a couple of pages by him several years back featuring a bunch of different Starmen:

The Punisher and Dick Tracy

This is a confrontation I would like to see.  Tracy's extensive rogues gallery is filled with just the type of criminals that would attract the attention of Frank Castle - but a clash of tactics is sure to ensue.  There's definitely good story potential there.

Dick Tracy and Elektra

Elektra was brought to life perfectly with Elodie Yung on Netflix' Daredevil.  Now that Charlie Cox is bringing DD over to the MCU, I hope that she will join him eventually.

I still say that Dick Tracy is ripe for a streaming show, with his amazing rogues gallery.  The correct profile with prominent nose is a must for the title role - I used to think Adrien Brody would be a good choice, now I'm thinking that Adam Driver  would be a decent option as well.

Dick Tracy and The Hulk

Hopefully the next time we see The Hulk in the MCU, we will get a little bit of the tension back.  I have enjoyed his last few outings, but he has mostly been used for comic relief.  The Hulk works the best for me when he is presented as a little bit dangerous and unpredictable to be around, even to his allies.

Dick Tracy Vs. The Kingpin

Much has been said about the hope that Marvel will keep the Charlie Cox / Netflix version of Daredevil around for inclusion in the MCU.  I'm not sure what Marvel plans for the hero, but if they do go that route, I hope that Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin can also make the transition.  His performance as Wilson Fisk was probably my favorite element of all the Netflix / Marvel shows, and I'd love to see him continue on in the role.

Dick Tracy and Wonder Woman

I was a little disappointed not to see any reference to Wonder Woman in the recent CW Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover.  They managed to get all of the other major DC Icons in there one way or another.  There was even a Green Lantern reference on the last episode.  Lynda Carter has worked for the Arrowverse before, it's too bad she didn't get a cameo here.

The Rocketeer and Dick Tracy

Way before collected editions and trade paperbacks became commonplace, I remember one of my older brothers making a point to cut out the Dick Tracy strips from the newspaper each day and assembling them together in a notebook.  I thought that it was great that I was able to read  a  comic strip like a regular story rather than just a few panels a day.  That and the Super Friends cartoons helped to cement my love for comics and larger than life heroes and villains at a very early age.

Thanks to Brad Brandt for suggesting this pairing - one that I was surprised I hadn't gotten to before!

The Question and Dick Tracy

Is Vic Sage around in the comics any more?  The last time I was aware of him was when he was killed off and replaced with Renee Montoya as the new Question.  Still, we have had The New 52, Convergence, and Rebirth events since then (not to mention the ongoing Doomsday Clock), so there have been plenty of places for him to make a return.  Has he, though?  I haven't seen many headlines about either Question in a while.

Dick Tracy Vs. Batman's Villains

Well, the new Batman movie by Matt Reeves seems to finally be on the schedule and we should start hearing about casting for the new Dark Knight Detective soon.  No solid word on who the villains of the film will be yet.  I am still hoping for Professor Hugo Strange.  His Monster Men experiments could be a way to bring Killer Croc and Man-Bat into the mix.  Reeves has said that this movie will emphasize the detective aspects of Batman, so maybe some less fantastical adversaries like the Court of Owls are in store for us.

Tracy tangled with The Penguin once before, way back in my B&B: The Lost Issues days, and has also had run-ins with Catwoman and Harley Quinn...
