G.I. Robot and Machine Man

Out of all of the cast of the upcoming Creature Commandos series, G.I. Robot is the one that I am the most curious about.  I really hope that James Gunn does the classic war comics character justice. I'm equally curious as to how Sean Gunn will perform the robotic voice.

Sgt. Fury & His Howling Commandos and G.I. Robot

I am very curious to see how G.I. Robot will be handled on the Creature Commandos animated show. As a basically non-verbal character, it might be a challenge to give him any kind of personality.  Still, James Gunn is writing the whole series, and he did a great job with Groot, so I am optimistic.

Captain America and G.I. Robot

My favorite aspect of Captain America is his "never say die" attitude.  It didn't matter if he was up against overwhelming numbers, overpowered opponents, even the Cosmic Cube, he always found a way to win.  That's one aspect that the movies really got right.

G.I. Robot and War Machine

Robert Downey Jr. recently reiterated that his time as Tony Stark is indeed done, and he is not even planning to return for voice overs.  Does Don Cheadle still have movies on his contract?  This could be a good opportunity for War Machine  and James Rhodes to be more fleshed out in the movies as he will be the premiere Armored hero in the MCU going forward.

G.I. Robot and The Human Torch

I am a fan of robotic characters, and I especially like it when they look unmistakably like robots.  I prefer when Red Tornado has a more mechanical look than when he just looks like a human colored red.  G.I. Robot has a great design, there's no mistaking that he is a machine.  Jim Hammond can pass for human, but when he flames on, he loses all of his facial features, which gives him more of an air of danger and unpredictability than Johnny Storm.

G.I. Robot and Dynomutt

I remember seeing Dynomutt and The Blue Falcon appearing as guest stars on Scooby-Doo or as two of the contestants on Laff-A-Lympics, and getting a real kick out of them.  these appearances were just teases, though - I always wished that they would have gotten a series of their own.  A robotic superhero dog, with his human sidekick?  I would have tuned in every Saturday!

The Vision and G.I. Robot

So, Paul Bettany will be joining Elizabeth Olsen for the Vision and Scarlet Witch series on Disney's streaming service.  Whether this means that The Vision somehow survives after the events of Avengers: Endgame or that the show will take place in the past remains to be seen.  I'm just glad we will get the chance to see these characters together again, I always wanted more of them in their film appearances.

Nick Fury Vs. The Creature Commandos

The Creature Commandos from Weird War Tales was one of those concepts that pulled from multiple genres - superhero, war and horror - and somehow worked for me.  I liked them even better when the G.I. Robot joined their ranks.  They may not have had the name recognition of some other groups, but they were definitely one of the cooler looking teams out there.

G.I. Robot and Magnus: Robot Fighter

When I was a kid, I inherited a stack of comics from my older brothers.  They were ninety percent Marvel and DC.  The remaining comics were Archie, Disney and Harvey titles, so the Big Two were my main outlet for super-heroic adventure.  The few Gold Key comics featuring Magnus were an exception, and I was intrigued by this guy who had no connection to the larger comic book universes that I was discovering.  I must not have been the only one because he is a character that never seems to stay down for long.

The Thing and G.I. Robot

I think I have only actually read a couple of stories featuring G.I. Robot. I still had to include him in this project because he always has such a cool look to him. He has one of my favorite cameo appearances on the Batman: The Brave and the Bold animated series. For some reason I always love robotic characters, even emotionless ones. Writers tend to tell stories that touch on the nature of humanity when using these mechanical characters, and those appeal to me.
