Hellcat and Cheetah

Cheetah has had a bunch of different appearances over the years, from a woman in a cat suit to full on woman/cat hybrids.  I think this George Perez design from his 80's Wonder Woman reboot is my favorite version.

Wonder Woman and Giant-Man

This cover is a rare example in which I actually own the original art to one of the components.  I picked this sweet Ron Wilson splash page up almost 20 years ago, and I still look at it daily.

Cheetah Vs. Kraven the Hunter

Could their savagery in battle lead to passion for one another?  Stranger things have happened.

Kang and The Legion of Doom

Loki ended up its two-season Disney+ arc in such a way that Marvel can easily either continue with Kang as a main villain or move on from him to a different franchise wide antagonist.  I haven't heard of any concrete plans as to what direction the studio will go in, and I imagine we won't until Jonathan Majors' court case is settled one way or another.

Doctor Doom Vs. The Legion of Doom

This is a match up that I have been meaning to get to for a while now, it was just a matter of finding the right images. That's a pretty powerful Legion line up, but if there's anyone who can give them a challenge, it's Victor Von Doom.

Cheetah Vs. Black Cat

Here's another match up that's been long overdue on this blog.  It's also another opportunity to present another behind the scenes peek at the process.  In this case, there was a little background rebuilding to be done before Barbara Minerva could be added in:

Ant-Man & The Wasp Vs. The Legion of Doom

I had seen superhero cartoons before, but nothing prepared me for Challenge of the Super-Friends.  Here not only did the Super-Friends expand their roster, but they also battled The Legion of Doom, an army of DC supervillains, in every hour long episode!  It may seem quaint now, but for 9 year old me it was like a summer blockbuster every Saturday.

Cheetah Vs. The Cheetah

I was surprised to see some suggestions for these two Cheetahs to clash, because I didn't really remember the Marvel version.  It's no wonder why, he only made a couple of appearances before being killed off.  The biggest head scratcher about him is that garish costume.  He looks like a cool werewolf, why cover that up in a green and yellow disco outfit?

If you like today's villain battle, then you'll probably like what's in store for STF #3700 - coming tomorrow!

Cheetah Vs. Black Panther

One thing that has not been revealed from Wonder Woman 1984 is how Kristin Wiig will look in full Cheetah form.  There have been a few merchandising peeks that give some hints, however.  It seems like we will get something close to how she appears on this cover, which is a good thing, as it's one of my favorite versions of the character.

The Avengers Vs. The Secret Society of Super-Villains in: "The One That Got Away!"

I loved team comics when I was a kid, and Justice League of America was my favorite.  My favorite issues of those were the yearly JLA/JSA team-ups, and my favorites of those was the three part tale where both teams tackle a Secret Society made up of Super-Villains from Earth One and Earth Two.  I was the perfect age for it and George Perez made everyone look great (I'm sure most will recognize his part of this cover).  It made me a fan of villains that I had never paid much attention to before like Ragdoll, Signal Man and especially the Psycho-Pirate.

These two teams first clashed back in STF #312...

Power Man and Wonder Woman

I'm surprised that we haven't seen more from Wonder Woman 1984.  Other than a poster and some set shots, very little has been revealed.  The movie has been delayed from it's original release date and there have been reports of reshoots, so I hope that it will still come together and enjoy the same success that the first film had.  I'm most eager to see how Kristin Wiig looks as The Cheetah.  I  mean, it has to be better than the human-feline hybrids from the Cats trailer, right?

The Cat Vs. Cheetah

New rumors are stating that the Wonder Woman sequel will be a Cold War adventure, set in the 1980's.  This is an interesting way to go.  I do hope that it doesn't rule out the possibility of her most iconic foe, Cheetah, showing up in a major way.  I'd love to finally see Barbara Minerva as a live action antagonist.

The Cat and Cheetah first tangled in STF #633...

Cheetah Vs. Tigra

From what I have gathered, the villains in the upcoming Wonder Woman film are most likely going to be Ares and Circe, which makes sense given that it will be presenting her origins.  Still, I am hoping for an appearance by Cheetah.  I have been a fan of each incarnation of the character since watching her mix it up on Super Friends as part of the Legion of Doom, and it would be great to see her make the leap to live action.

Wonder Woman and Captain America in: "Cheating... with Cheetah!"

Longtime followers of this blog know that from time to time I will revisit team-ups that I have featured before, sometimes presenting them in a new adventure and sometimes continuing off from where I left them last.  There is only one real ongoing saga, however - that is the marriage of Captain America and Wonder Woman.  This is the 8th cover featuring the official couple of STF and there will definitely be more to come.  To make them easier to see all at once, I have listened to a follower request and created a new label that you can click on: WW/Cap.

Wonder Woman and The Cat

Gal Gadot has been announced as receiving the role of Wonder Woman in the upcoming Batman/Superman film.  I have only seen her in one small role on one of the Fast and Furious sequels, so I don't have much to judge her acting abilities on.  She looks right for the part - I have heard complaints that she was too lean, but I understand she is on a workout regimen to add muscle mass, so that isn't a concern to me.  I just hope the part is written well, it still strikes me a bit odd that she is even in the movie at all.  Will she be an intregal part of the plot, or a small cameo at the end, hinting at things to come?  Part of me suspects that this and a JLA movie may be filmed back-to-back, and that is why DC seems to be getting their Justice League cast members together.
