The New Warriors and Infinity, Inc. (and more!)

I like making these Anniversary Issues as homages to the 100-Page Giants that I devoured as a kid.  Sometimes, though, I really have to shrink some of the images to fit the confines of the cover.  So here, I will show you larger versions for all of the individual stories included above:

Impulse Vs. Gorgon

Bart Allen was a fun addition to the Flash Family.  It was amusing seeing the hyperactive speedster interact with his older mentors and the other teen heroes from Young Justice.  Since then he's been aged and de-aged, changed his hero ID to Flash to Kid Flash and back to Impulse (I think).  I'm not sure, I lost track of him around the time the second Wally West as Kid Flash showed up and took his place on the Teen Titans.  I think Brian Michael Bendis may have brought Bart back in a new Young Justice title.  Sheesh, the Flash Family history is as confusing as Hawkman's at this point!

Quicksilver and Impulse

This would be a fun combo to see, I think.  While both are heroes with super speed, their personalities could not be more different.  Quicksilver is all business and often frustrated with the pace of the world around him, while Impulse enjoys the life of a speedster and is always looking to have a good time.  I'm betting that they would clash in some amusing ways.

The Thing and Young Justice

I really hope that The Cartoon Network brings back Young Justice soon.  I was really impressed by the writing and animation on this series, and just when it was getting really interesting, it was yanked off of the schedule.  It really killed the momentum of the show.  They did the same thing with Batman: The Brave and the Bold, I am still waiting for them to air the final batch of episodes there.  I also think that DC is missing a bet by not having the animated series line up more with their upcoming Teen Titans ongoing comic book series.  The comic looks to have a different roster, and the characters that are the same have very different looks and in Robin and Kid Flash's case different secret identities.  Seems to me like a lost opportunity to create some synergy.  At any rate, I truly enjoy the show and hope that it returns to have a nice long run.

The Thing and Impulse

I must admit that I was a bit skeptical when Impulse first appeared in the pages of The Flash, as I have an aversion to the trend of insta-kids in comics (offspring that appear out of the blue, fully grown). I soon grew to like the character, as the fact of his rapid aging was not just a means to an end, but truly informed the character and how he perceived the world around him. His self titled series was the kind of humorous superhero comic that we don't see enough of anymore. I also liked the character growth that Bart Allen was given upon his graduation to the Kid Flash role. I did not, however, like when he was given yet another instant growth spurt and became the next incarnation of The Flash. Not too many other readers liked this either, and that decision has thankfully been reversed.
